Boston: One dead, one captured, city re-opened

So what? Just a random drunk naked dude who looked suspicious because he was drunk and naked or something?

Apparently he ran into the cops or something last night so they made him strip down to make sure he wasn't packing heat/bombs. Not sure what eventually happened to him though.

i'm confused about the naked guy, how does he fit in all of this?
Last I knew: Naked Guy was a dude who was just out at night, ran into a shit load of cops and smartly put himself on the ground. Then the cops stripped him (so no bombs) and checked him out and he got released.

Not perfect, but considering the circumstances.

this phonecall on CNN is useless in every aspect of the word

fuck, the second suspect might be strapped with explosives... i hope a sniper gets him before he causes any damage. probably no chance getting him alive :/

He doesn't. Chances are he was in the way of the cops and arrested for his own safety. He is already released.

Would suck if we were on shutdown on a Friday night. Kinda sounds selfish, but its been a stressful week and I want to unwind.
I just want to go do my laundry. This entire city needs a fucking vacation.

The phone caller on CNN is an absolute moron.

He recognized the guy in the photo but didn't report it to the FBI? Are you fucking kidding me?

Sooo..just wondering..wouldn't you guys actually consider this a domestic attack? It seems like they have been here for years, and I'm guessing the younger one has a good chance at being a full U.S. citizen.

It would depend on if they came up with the plot by themselves or if there was funding/training/support etc. from outside, then it would be considered international rather than domestic.

It's such a fluid and ongoing situation though that it's not possible to know any of that now.

Out of curiosity, where is the evidence that they share Islamic extremist views? All I see is a Youtube account with Russian(?) videos?

They arrested him because they thought he was the 2nd suspect. There was quite a delay while they ID'd him as a witness and not the suspect (since they had him on the ground/stripping/etc for ages), which may have something to do with why Suspect 2 is outstanding.

"Hey man, you know those Boston suspects that attacked that place near us? Yeah I just saw him! Cool, huh!?"

I know there are a shit-ton of posts, but just read back a few pages, follow some links, and all your curiosities will be sated.

Will do. I know they're Russian, that's about it.

I don't think you can clearly link their religion to their crimes... at the present time.

Adam (I think) on Channel 7 - confirmed, one is a wrestler, the other a boxer - collegiate opportunity to pursue the thing (scholarship link?). Friend was stunned to learn they could be accused - 'normal guys', partying, etc - at least 6-7 years in the country.

Are they American? Where are they from? And do we know for sure that they're Musilm radicals or is it just an educated guess?

Guesses from their social networking. We know for certain that one was born in Russia, one in Kyrgyzstan, and apparently of Chechyen descent. But that's unimportant detail to FieryBalrog.

Nah.

What did you want them to say, "we know their hobbies"? Guess what, their religion is the most salient fact about them right now, whether or not you really wish it wasn't.

But logically, it shouldn't be for various reasons, least not the self-evident insinuation that all those who identify themselves as Muslims are a threat to people. All it's doing is playing on stereotypes that have fuelled violent xenophobia that has flirted with racial prejudice; it shouldn't be given any legitimacy by an International news outlet much less any one with common sense.

This is why many here, including the Mods thankfully, are intolerant of the evocation of their faith --- not in itself as a statement of fact, or one of relevance in the greater scope of their identity -- but the separate, louder, narrative it feeds amongst our national conscious.

Been up all night, but somehow missed that now deceased suspect was run over by the still at large suspect when he was escaping. Crazy.

After the initial two bombs at the marathon these guys sure have been messy as fuck.

Read the OP, but they are from Chechnya, they're main religion is Islam over there as far as I know. One of their youtube channels had some Muslim extremists type stuff favorited and what not.

Ha, thanks. Dude needs to work on the internal rotation of his right arm. Probably from too much bench pressing, you should be able to put your arms behind your back in a hand cuff position without the glenoid pointing that forward.
