FOX News is speculating about how the law enforcement will advance. Speaking about the use of chemicals or stun grenades and dismantling the walls.

Is it common that you can listen along with police? Never heard of something like that before and it seems a bit odd.

In the States? Anything that isn't cell phone waves are basically fair game. There are channels that they can switch to for more privacy. They want all law engorgement officials to be asks to listen in in this case.

One of the great things about the United States. Police convo have always been on open airwaves. You used to need a scanner to listen to it or a radio that could pick up that signal. now with the internet it's very easy

Hoodies everywhere, Hot Fuzz up in this. Starting to doubt their guy is anywhere near here.

btw, the guy was never on the radio. It was just an officer reading out his supposed tweets (which were almost certainly fake).

i just woke up. the last page of this thread is REALLY goddamn confusing

Summary:

For those waking up here is the summary of what happened in Boston overnight. Attempted to rob 7-11, they killed an MIT police officer, hijacked a car, stole a police vehicle, threw explosives out of window during chase, got into firefights in neighborhood, one of them died from being shot to death by the cops and a bomb vest going off(suspect 1), and the other is hiding and there's supposedly bombs planted all over the place(suspect 2) .

This was the DA statement and press conference earlier, may be off since I just jotted it down, but is generally what I heard across those sources:

Quote:
-something at MIT (Building 32? led to shooting of MIT cop (died))
-carjacking in cambridge, kept hostage for 30 minutes
-robbery attempt at 7-11
-another carjacking at some point (?)
-car chase (?), grenades thrown out, explosives maybe of some sort
-shootout: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cqo1Ad6spkY
-suspect #1 (black cap) dead
-suspect #2 (white cap) still on the loose

Also note that the first suspect was run over as #2 tried to escape. According to news sources now.

Stray bullets from earlier firefight:
The bullet actually went through his chair.

ugh, ok, I got 4 hours of sleep, when I needed 3, and now late to work.

So what did I miss? First I see is the guy's name (not the missing kid) and something about dead brother.

I could have sworn it sounded like that. It sounded like someone angry and with an accent more than a police officer, but no one else seems to say that, so I guess not. The following "Wait, what was that?" and silence made me think it was.

Thanks, I'm at work so I can't listen to the scanner.

MAKHACHKALA, Russia (AP) — The father of the suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing claims that his son who is still on the loose is a smart and accomplished young man.

Anzor Tsarnaev spoke with The Associated Press by telephone from the Russian city of Makhachkala on Friday after police said one of his sons, 26-year-old Tamerlan, had been killed in a shootout and the other, Dzhokhar, was being intensely pursued.

"My son is a true angel," the elder Tsarnaev said. "Dzhokhar is a second-year medical student in the U.S. He is such an intelligent boy. We expected him to come on holidays here."
