WBZ radio Boston just reported seeing a tank with a soldier manning the machine gun on top.

Da fuck?
As a former tank driver in the army, there is no way in hell they deploy a tank to the greater Boston area. Just getting it there would be a pain in the ass, you don't just drive a tank to the area. You have to put it on a giant truck called a M1070 HET like this pic.

Good luck moving that around Boston's tiny ass streets. Another reason would be the tracks would chew up the street, causing shit tons of damage. The streets are not made for a 70 ton track vehicle. The last and most important reason, they don't need a tank.

This whole thing is so bizzarre

Like what the fuck was up with the 7-11 robbery for instance?

My guess they were always planning to skip down, but after their photos got released they realized they were now in over their heads, and decided that they needed more cash if they were going to skip town. Solution: rob a 7-11.

Is there a summary of everything that has happened since the bombing up to this point? I have been at work during much of the newscasts and the GAF threads are so massive.

i remember either last night or this morning reports that the FBI had a "loose idea" of one of the suspects ID's prior to releasing the pictures but were looking for confirmation. They never would have gotten out of the country.

I wonder, at what point, did their plan go off course? They must have known the attention they were going to attract by robbing a convenience store. I guess seeing your face on every new station can lead to some illogical decisions.

How much time did they have before they were identified? Seems like they could easily be on the other side of the planet right now.

It took three days for the information to become public. I'm guessing the FBI had a good idea 24-48 hours after it happened, but that's purely conjecture on my part and they still didn't know their names, just had pictures.

Did they give the order to shoot? All i heard was "stop them"

I didn't hear a clear "kill" order and from the sounds of it they want him alive.

I do think shutting down the city was a bad call. I think it sends a bad message to other bad guys. If a couple of kids can hold an American city hostage, what could an organized group of equipped adults do?

No one has enough information to say if it was a bad call or not.

if so...why would they rob a store? in a few days, they may have been scott-free.

Because they'd had their photos released and their identities were now known. Why's that difficult to understand. It's one thing to bamboozle the family into getting them to fly you back to Russia to see relatives, it's another thing when everyone knows you just killed and maimed hundreds and are looking to flee. Plans had to change.

Im still surprised they didn't kill the guy they carjacked. Seems it was harder to kill someone in cold blood in at their home. Too bad they already did it with the bombs.

Yep, and it had the exact intended effect. It flushed them out.

I thought it sounded nicer than "you're an idiot". He has no idea what the hell he's talking about.
Expressing concern about why we have paramilitary in the streets isn't something you need to have specialized knowledge to comment on. It relates to fundamental interests common to all citizens.

something along the lines of "if the suspect emerges you have the full permission of FBI to stop them". i understand "stop them" to mean, do whatever it takes.

Why are people saying he's Russian? Isn't he from Kyrgystan, which is a separate country? Or is my info out of date?

maybe my info is old, but I thought he was from Chechnya? Chechnya, despite having fought civil wars with Russia for some 30+ years, is still part of Russia. He's been identified as Chechen throughout the day, but he would still technically be Russian as well.
