Boston: One dead, one captured, city re-opened

It's just impossible to keep up. I'm not saying at a certain point they just throw up their hands and say, "Well, you guys are on your own," but they can't keep up a city-wide lock down for days/weeks at a time.

Yeah for sure, it's impossible I agree. I guess I'm just wondering how they'll scale back their efforts at that point. I mean, if they're able to pursue him without shutting the entire city down and deploying a paramilitary force then couldn't they have done that in the first place?

These suspects make perfect sense to me, though I been studying these type of people for a few years now. They are beyond skilled at lying and pretending to be normal. They also have grandiose complexes and believe they can outsmart anyone.

Regardless of what happens, there will be enough material for conspiracy theorists to keep going for a year at least.

You have the father (and even some friends) claiming that his sons were set up, all the inaccuracies in the media and backpedaling, Twitter accounts with 911 comments, a whole city on lock down because of one 19 year old and on and on.

And the whole way that police is conducting itself, armored vehicles and everything.

Horrible for the victims but awfully entertaining for the rest of the world.

I think any "plan" these idiots had went to shit the instant they robbed that 7/11 and then killed that MIT security guard. As a result, one of them was killed and now the other is running for his pathetic little life.

if they went to get gas at a 7/11, the next logical step if i was them was an escape route.
i wouldn't be surprised if the kid is long far gone from the tri-state area.

Doubt this is true but even if it were the eggheads of the FBI are just going to set a grid. Simple math can determine how far even the fastest car on a highway without cars could go between last night and now, and they'll use that information to slowly search that area.

Yep, the longer this goes on the more you feel he might have got out the area they are searching.

Weren't they at 70% clear (house to house searching)? So they must be getting close to finishing their search in that area. If he isn't found by then, he must have got out in the night during all the confusion.

amazing

APBs. Chasing down leads. Asking citizens for tips. You know, same things we normally do with a lunatic on the loose. Things we did with Muhammed and Malvo.

Things we normally do when bombers start by killing 3 and injuring over a hundred people and then follow it up by gunning down multiple police officers while throwing bombs around a neighborhood?

These types of posts, at this point, are just as awful/annoying as those speculative posts were....

We get it.

No, they're necessary. Internet detectives acted rashly and irresponsibly and screwed up the investigation in their zeal to pass themselves off as helpful. They need to be called out and that behavior needs to be curbed.

Yes. Exactly.

Unibomber. Atlanta Olympics bomber. Hell, I don't remember a manhunt like this after Oklahoma City.

He probably hiding in the sewers of by some safehouse veerryyy welll hidden. And he prob sleeping/resting too. Ppl that says hes to scared for that didnt seen his smirk as he lay the bomb behind an inocent kid :(

Because its an isolated incident?

That photo came out without context or association to any robbery.

No, it's from last night. The police confirmed it -- he's still (or was last night) wearing that jacket. It's possible they were at a 7-11 but simply didn't rob it.

Because, you know... you can just buy stuff from those stores. :)

And what? Do not react when they rob a 7-11?

Let them run away when they kill a cop or put more explosives?

Lol I didn't say that. You chase him when you get a lead, but when they have no idea where he is you don't go searching every fucking house like the British Army circa 1775.

Actually I think this deserves to get addressed again.

If we don't go with the full force of our conviction and arrest/kill this guy, then we don't send a message with the next 20-something who gets a bright idea to try this.

You do this to send a message to others like him.

And also do this because this psycho himself has proven capable of not just one act of violence, but several, and has the capacity for more.

I think the issue with me is, this whole event highlights how impossible it is to be 100% safe. If people don't care about their lives, and just want to go out in a blaze of glory while fucking up as many things as possible, I feel like this is event will be idealized. If people are terrorists who's intent is to directly disrupt the status quo, this event shows just a couple of guys can cost a country millions upon millions.

I hope nothing comes of it, and we don't get copy cats, but I'd understand if we did.

lol... sorry, couldn't help but laugh at this wording

I honestly think their plan was just to lay low and hope things blow over. Maybe quietly leave the country after a while. The FBI releasing those pictures probably sent them into a panic.

Of course his tweets were normal. What do you expect he would have put out on there? "I did it?" You don't advertise your madness when you want to get away with something.

No one said they are.

So, because they shouldn't project this kind of force for a prolonged period of time, they shouldn't project this kind of force now, especially when he's possibly within their perimeter?

Hence why I said, "at this point". It's been beaten into the ground already. Time to move on.

Obviously not, because this isn't the first time this shit has happened. Internet hero is no better than Wolf Blitzer at shitting their pants trying to be first to act.

Eh that's kind of a silly definition of terrorist victory; it's one or two days of the city being frozen due to a police search, not years and years; if this extended for, say, months, I'd say the terrorists won.
i havent kept up with all the news. but saying terrorist won by creating terror within everybody is not flying with me either. im sure everyone still went to work this morning to the jobs they hate. schools maybe cancelled since its a friday anyway. i am not there though. so i dont know.
