I meant people made those and then they were posted here. It certainly didn't help. Then some of those same people called those of us who didn't buy it "idiots."

There were maybe like two on GAF saying it was clearly him, the rest of us were taking a much more objective approach, and now people in here are jumping on all of us for pushing this 'conspiracy', it's ridiculous. Yes, the speculation lead to nothing, but 99% of GAF were not trying to vilify him.

Guys, this isn't Martial Law. Your rights are still in tact. You should have e dry right to refuse police searches on your private home if that is how you feel and you have no reason to be suspected or have a warrant. I'd certainly encourage people to help the police by complying as much as you are comfortable with, but rights still give you that option. The acts of the few shouldn't destroy the rights of the many.

Some people prefer to exercise their right to be helpful citizens and not be assholes just for the sake of saying "haha see I have RIGHTS asshole".

Hot pursuit no longer exists when the suspect is out of sight. It then becomes fresh pursuit, which doesn't allow for a warrantless home search. I think this falls under the Patriot Act or exigent circumstances.

Fresh pursuit is the same as hot pursuit.

This discussion is only relevant if they are not asking permission. Are they not asking permission?

I'll be the first to admit it's a very likely not the case here... He apparently is a huge stoner, so who knows? Maybe he was high as a kite and wasn't much into questioning it. Maybe he didn't know what was in there and trusted his brother implicitly. Perhaps he was told they'll come back for the bag in a minute and walked off.

and maybe boston doesn't really exist it's just an elaborate ruse on tv.

I dont understand why they aren't flying a little squadron of quad copters over the area. I know the public loves to get up in arms over that but this seems like the perfect time for this.

I agree 100%.

At this point I think it's reasonable to assume he's somewhere with a gun in his mouth and a hole in the back of his head.

i'd bet on this.

why haven't the dogs found him yet btw? it's weird to me, if they knew where he disappeared and if the cops have anything that belonged to him (for the dogs to sniff), the dogs should have done their job by now.

Fixed that for you.

Dude, you would be the worst terrorist fighter ever
Maybe? But thank god I'm not a terrorist fighter - I'd prefer not to fight a fight that's impossibly to win. Because the terrorists always, always win. There's fuck all anyone can do about it, they win by design. Especially if you deal with fundamentalist idiots who never expected to leave the scene alive in the first place.

If I were a resident of Boston, I would allow LE to walk through my home in this situation. But it does seem as if, really, they don't have a fucking clue where the guy is now. He could be anywhere in Boston, anywhere in Mass. or even has fled the state by now. After this much time passed and nothing turned up, the likelihood that he's still in the original perimeter from 6am this morning is pretty slim. Considering that, here's how I saw this issue addressed by someone on another board:

About 600K residents in Boston (not including suburbs).

Assume 4 people per household = about 150K homes.

1/150k = .0000067

This means each house (assuming he is even in a house) has a 0.00067% chance of having said person of interest.

How do you justify that with a 0.00067% of finding something/someone you are looking for is reasonable?

Would you say that the FDA should approve a drug that has a 0.00067% chance of working as indicated?

Would you accept ammunition for your officers that had a 0.00067% function rate?

Lets look at the opposite. You have a 99.99933% chance of the suspect NOT being in a house.

I am trying to see here how you define doing something with a 0.00067% chance of success as "reasonable."

It's a valid point.

Some people prefer to exercise their right to be helpful citizens and not be assholes just for the sake of saying "haha see I have RIGHTS asshole".

And some people prefer their right to be left alone by the government. That is one of the key notions for many Americans. Don't try to villianize them for utilizing their rights. That is despicable.

Just based on what we know, it seems like we're missing a huge piece of the picture here. He almost certainly isn't mentally ill. Just going off what we're learning about who he is as a person (at least publicly), I can't exactly blame his parents for thinking this is a setup, you know?

Truly spoken as someone who's never smoked marijuana before and is clueless about it.

So you criticize the response and say it shows the terrorists win, and then tell us the terrorists always win? If defeat is inevitable, defeat can't be the basis of your criticism.
