Japan is so ignorant in its racism, its almost charming. I lived in Okinawa for about a year. I remember walking by a hip hop club with a back bouncer up in front. A Japanese couple walk by and ask him, "Do you play black music?". I was dying...

The funnier(sadder) part is that he said yes and they walked in. Can you imagine how that shit would go down in the US?

Is that considered racist? I've always heard jazz & blues as being called "black music" and occasionally hear hiphop called that too.

Ok, just to try to play devil's advocate here.. what exactly is racist about this?

I don't really see any negative statements about black people being made. Are transvestites sexist? Wouldn't it be considered standard comedy fare if the group had been dressed up and acting like women?

Maybe this is associated with racism in western culture because it was done prominently during a period in which genuine racism against black people was rampant.

It would still be awkward as hell to be the only black guy in the room though lol..

Well yeah. Japan never had blackface. Why would they know what it was? Ignorant and offensive? Definitely. Racist or hateful intent? I doubt it.

uuuh, maybe its just me but those look like they are supposed to be parodying New Guinean or Australian Aboriginal people, not African Americans.

lolwhut?

japanese not racist?

you kidding me?!

"golden niggas" hahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

freemufasa is one of the best posters on this forum and here's some proof right here. what a bizarre situation dude got thrown into

minstrel shows, look em up dood.

Damn, OP. Think I would have died and left my body for a second, came back to life and then left the room. Just no way I can even process that.

I wouldn't know how to react to this. Typical weird ass Japan being weird ass Japan.

I don't really know how to reconcile what I've seen in this thread. I think I need to go for a walk around the park.

It would be ironic if they did it as a special surprise for the op's benefit, because he' the only black guy at the wedding.
