Does anyone know if Zavvi ships 3DS XL outside of Great Britain? According to a forum discussion I enganged in there were people outside the UK that had bought 3DS XLs from Zavvi, but according to Zavvi's website they will not ship hardware outside the UK.

Will my Animal Crossing 3DS XL pre-order get canceled? :-( I live in Sweden.

First you say Great Britain and then you say UK. Great Britain is not the same thing as UK. Basically, UK is Great Britain and then some, mainly Northern Ireland. Also, UK is a country whereas Britain is not.

But enough about that. Last I checked, Zavvi didn't ship hardware outside of the UK. I went to Zavvi just now to look it up but their delivery page won't load.

no info on hardware there. I know Play.com didn't deliver hardware, but never heard Zavvi wouldn't.

This is where you go when you click on the international delivery buttons, btw. Also no mentioning of any exclusions.

So Flubit rejected my demand for e-shop money form GAME, again, I think this time they said they don't do offers on gift cards. Then the rejected text implied it might have been due to not being able to better the offer. I give up (if anyone tried in the future and does get it to work, I'd like the demand number so I can heckle Flubit). Now GAME, come out with another with another £x off £y coupon and one that actually works when I place the order...

is there any way to find out what region a game is from, before actually buying it and opening?
I guess you could try contacting them beforehand but you would probably get a lame response of "it works, thats all that matters". Do they do free returns? If so just return it every time the region isn't UK. You may be able to tell from the box if it is UK or a different European country.

Okay, here's how it is. If a product is not deliverable outside of the UK, it will say so on the product's page:

Important Note! We can only ship this product to United Kingdom addresses. We apologise for any inconvenience. All prices include UK VAT and delivery.

I looked around a bit and it says so on the Xbox 360, but it doesn't on the PS3, Wii U or 3DS. Not sure why, really. I'd assume it's because the console is heavy and cost a lot of shipping to mainland Europe, but if so then the PS3 and Wii U should also say that.

you are still lucky, for whatever reason GAME doesn't accept my paypal at all. :(

I never tried to return, and weirdly enough, you can't find region on many PS3 covers.
Probably I should try contacting their support, don't think it'll do much, because if they sent me a game of different region, that most likely means they don't have a game for UK.

Just bought VT4 for Vita on The Hut for 7,49 € with free delivery.

Excellent price for a beautiful game on the handeld.

What's so lol worthy here? Shipping to Portugal was free until very recently, now they're suddenly charging 10 euro. Even before they had free shipping it was 1.2 euro or something like that. I really don't see what's supposed to be so funny.

Scroll up to George Costanza's post. He posted the price of shipping. What's also hilarious is that you just randomly came in and stated that they charge so and so for shipping without even naming where you live or anything. You act as if they charge that much everywhere. You post lacks any kind of context, and what's even more funny is that, again, shipping fees were posted on the very same page.

That's what's so funny.

Yeah, hilarious. I'm dying here.

OK, let me rephrase that:

Current shipping fees to Portugal are too damn expensive.

Actually I do agree to the angry dragon here, partly. The shipping inside Europe is way too expensive, but then you have some nice websites with free shipping, like theHut. So, it's still matter of choice.

Iirc they pulled the international standard shipping and only offer international tracked delivery to Portugal from now on. Apparently a lot of packages to Portugal were reported as being "lost in the mail", which made them switch to "tracked only".

Disclaimer: this is only what I've heard from other people on here. Plus I like Portugal and its inhabitants. I have good friends there. Also note how I created this thread. The "lost in the mail" remark is not meant to offend anyone, it's what apparently happened. Might as well be Spanish middle men who stole all the Portuguese packages?

Thanks man, didn't know about that. I've ordered A LOT of stuff from them over the years and even though it always took a very long time to arrive it always arrived eventually.
This sucks, they usually have the best prices which combined with the free shipping was a win, even if I had to wait 2 or 3 weeks.

Edit: didn't know that thread existed. Very cool.

I did not knew that thread existed! Nice.

I had two packages lost from Zavvi. The first they just refunded me after a lot of time waiting (it was the Limited Edition Medal of Honor), the second (GT5) I had to wait for them to send me a letter so I could write and then send the letter back again to them. After 2 months they fully refunded me.

One of those packages we suspect that the Mail man got it for himself because people in here were getting suspicious about him and a few weeks later we was fired for "suspicious activity" so there's a big chance he got my game since there's no need to sign myself when I get the package from him. He probably knew what Zavvi meant and must have been like: Oh cool, games! *Yoink*

I also noticed the absurd shipping price on Zavvi for Portugal...

I was one of those guys complaining about missing packages, I pretty much don't use Zavvi nowadays because I'd say that in 2012 I only got half the stuff I bought.
They were always cool with refunding the money after 3 weeks, but it was always a gamble buying stuff from there.
And then they sent me 2 copies of Theatrhythm... So crazy.

Damn that sucks.

I guess I'll have to rely more on dvd.co.uk now.

There's also a portuguese site that has new releases for 49.99 and you get the game the next day. The only problem is that prices don't drop like crazy like in the UK but for day 1 buys it might be our best bet now.

Damn, I've bought so much stuff from them, I must've been really lucky.

Edit: I complained to them on twitter and here's their reply:

"This recent change in the postage cost is due to a recent change to our courier service. Many thanks, Kieran"

Some of my packages went missing, but they replaced them (Tekken Wii U went missing twice...)

Has anyone else got Amazon UK orders (Free Super Saver delivery) shipped to mainland Europe via... Royal Mail?! :-\

Everything inside was being sold by (or fullfilled by) Amazon by the way.

I have been waiting 3 weeks now for a game from Zavvi.

Why are they so damn cheap, it's unfair. I can't control myself.

Someone in the past pages mentioned their warehouse is located in the States to avoid VAT, that would explain why the long time.
My last order from TheHut took 22 days so I know the feeling.

EDIT
Here's the quote

Also Zavvi don't ship their stuff from the UK. They have at least one warehouse in Chicago from where they ship stuff worldwide.

My last order from Zavvi got sent from Guernsey and it arrived in five days (in France).

Mine went through Netherlands and god knows what else.

That would explain a lot. They should mention it could take up to a month though.

Because of the recurring debate on here about delivery from The Hut Group being slow(er than before/than anyone else), I've been tracking the amount of business days it takes for all of my orders to arrive, since November last year.

I'll post some of the intermediate results of this "in-depth study". :-)

Zavvi/TheHut: 14 orders so far and 7,93 business day for them to arrive on average. I don't know if it is significant, but The Hut orders were slightly faster than Zavvi orders (7,25 vs 8,83 days with 8 The Hut orders vs 6 Zavvi orders)

Video Games Plus (Canada): 3 orders and 4,3 business days on average

Play-Asia (Hong Kong): 4 orders and 21,25 business days on average. (Note: I had one order held up at customs for an awfully long time.)

Amazon UK (incl marketplace): 25 orders and 1,64 business days on average.

I always pick the cheapest delivery option.
These are delivery times to Belgium.
Only a few of all my orders were preorders, btw.

Edit: I originally planned on doing this for about a year, then post all the results per shop I ordered from, so people have something to go by when ordering.

Isnt Amazon's dispatch time usually 2 daysish with free shipping though? In the Uk it usually takes 3-4 days to get stuff on super saver delivery from them factoring in that. Nice findings though.

it depends when you are ordering from amazon. the have their warehouses in germany and if youre in germany it will be at your home the next day if you order befor 3pm.(avarage time, cheapest delivering option)

uk stuff get be 2-3days but sometimes even that is going to be send out by a german warehouse of amazon so i dont know why it takes so much more.

i didnt have any luck with zavvi/thehut because some of the orders took more than 40 days to arrive or even got lost so thats why i quit long time ago ordering at their messy shop or i just order if its nothing important or not pricey stuff iam waiting for...

I only start counting after I receive an "order dispatched" email, so I never take into account when I initially made the order. There could be several reasons why they don't dispatch right away, so I tried to leave that factor out. Under those conditions most of my Amazon UK orders arrive a day after that email.

Day 1: dispatch email (they usually send them after hours)
Day 2: order is on its way
Day 3: mailman delivers the order.

I only count day 2 as a business day. That is open for interpretation ofcourse. One could argue 2 days should be counted. But that goes for all orders (including other shops).

The last thing I ordered from Zavvi was sent via Hermes, despite being just a regular game. It also failed to arrive, despite it saying on the Hermes website it had been "delivered to letterbox" (even though Zavvi said I'd have to sign for it).

For about a month this has been doing the thing where the price drops to 97.5% of what it was every couple of days. In other words in a month it should be about £20 (which is what I want to pay, I'll try a flubit offer at about £21.60 to ensure no getting greedy and losing it completely like what happened with Pandora's Tower special edition) unless it spikes back up (my guess is it is an automated warehouse clearance thing by Amazon and once enough space is cleared the price will shoot back up...or maybe a human intervcenes, noticing the price is too cheap).

Wow. And how did this turn out?

"delivered to (a) letterbox" - doesn't have to be yours. Hermes + DPD - worst deliveries ever (to be fair the drivers are paid like shit and if I recall correctly they are paid per "successful" delivery only).

DPD have always been fantastic for me. Best courier by a mile - they've always arrived on time, and will even give a one-hour delivery slot (which they've always delivered within, so far) rather than the generic "9am-6pm" most couriers do.
