Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

What's it made of? Plastic?
Pictures make it look pretty slick hah

Yes, plastic and I have to say it's rather cheap. The matte finish is only for the top half, the bottom is glossy. It doesn't look as nice as on the pictures and isn't a premium product like the name might suggest but it's design is still simple like a case for glasses. Better than anything I could find in Germany except custom made ones, everything else looks way cheaper.

There are no slots for cards for which I don't care. Did some simple falling tests which worked well, the closing mechanism is fine and I prefer it to a zipper (potential scratch risk in my opinion).

Edit: top of the page recommendation:
Buy When Vikings Attack! if you enjoy multiplayer games like Bomberman, Virtua Tennis 4 for some of the best graphics on the Vita. Also give PSM some love and get Surge.

I was getting interested in that Case because it was simple, I do not care for carrying it outside and it was just for the Vita itself but then you said "cheap plastic" and went to see some reviews and most of them are pretty, pretty negative. :/

Yeah I saw those too... disappointing since it looks so nice in the pictures, but I guess that's why they have them.
But I don't need a case right now either way, my Vita spends most of its time when I'm not playing on the charging dock.

Simple you say? I own this case: http://mobile.thrustmaster.com/node/4570

Its build quality actually is cheaper than it looks on the pictures but I still like it. Simple was my preference too.

I have that one as well and it is great, like a case you keep a pair of glasses in.
EDIT: I don't think the plastic feels cheap. The top lid is rubberised and the inside has a velvet-like coating. It opens and closes with a spring and has a ribbon to easily pull the Vita out. It also feels quite sturdy. I've carried it around in my bag for about a year and it is still in perfect shape.

Does anyone have the urefer email address for me to send in a claim?

I saw someone posted it earlier but I can't find it now! Sony, where's my $20 space bux?!

edit: NVM! Found it.
Sent them an e-mail, hope they get back to me.

I need that $20 to put toward SS/

I have my $20 ready towards SS, i havent been this excited for a vita release since the system launch, that demo does an AWESOME job at selling the game!

That's because the demo IS the game! :lol
I'm still trying to figure out if I like L targeting as hold or toggle.

I just checked my Vita and the At&T Live are had refreshed. Apparently theres a 50% dataconnect with them.

My livescreen says;

250MB/Month for $7.50
3GB/Month for $15
5gb/Month for $25

I'll never pay a sub more than $3-4 per month.
They really just need to sell a bucket of data for one price like Japan.

3GB for $15 is tempting since I might not have access to Wifi over the summer. Is there a list somewhere of Vita games that support 3G?

True, it is a meaty demo with a lot of replay value! I hope we can get a VitaGAF group to play with party chat.

So many games could benefit from demos as meaty as this or full game trials 'a la PS3'

Just got my Vita back from Sony's repair shop (the screen went out last August and I was deployed so I couldn't get it fixed). Sony was nice enough to still fix it for free, even though ti was out of warranty (major props to them for that).

Anyways, I've been out of the Vita market for 7 1/2 months and I'm just catching back up. What are some of the top games that have been released for it?

Persona 4 Golden is essential, and you should definitely download the Soul Sacrifice demo.

Persona 4: Golden, Guacamelee, LittleBigPlanet Vita, Need for Speed: Most Wanted. Soul Sacrifies seems great and will release at the end of this month.

So toto's criticisms against the ground textures ruining the game are unfounded?

When I played the game I was expecting something attrocious. But if you don't play the game with the camera facing down like an idiot, you don't even notice. :P

The drop for the week has been announced. The PSP game of the week is Soul Calibur Broken Destiny. I wonder what the hell Sony's going to release for the PSP games on PS+ when they run out of fighters.

i am a bit of a graphics-whore, and soul sacrifice looks/plays great. if the ground textures look bad, you're not spending your time staring at them. you're a tad more focussed on the giant slug spewing shit at you. i sort of equate it with the bad textures you can find in any game, like uncharted. they're more noticeable when you're staring at a screenshot because you aren't actually playing the game. when you are playing, you are looking at different things.

new little kings story and sonic racing are pretty big as well.

Soul Sacrifice is confusing for me.
Scared to play. :(

I stopped right before the Harpy fight.

What I did was grind a little bit at the Jack O Lantern before moving on to the other ones. I practiced until I was able to take down the Jack O lantern without much work. The Harpy fight is pretty damn hard. Possible Spoiler:
I would make sure to keep the human form of the Jack O Lantern as a helper before moving on to the Harpy and Cerberus
if you're not playing with other people

I'll do that, thanks.

For a second or less, when the texture is loading. And only really noticeable on the Harpy stage. So, no the textures are fine and the game is awesome.

Game is great agree ground textures are not a big deal. You have been playing that demo hard shinriji.

Does anybody have any problems with the Vita's browser randomly losing connection? I use the browser quite a bit and it's become more obvious to me lately. The problem always happens like this:

1.) I start the browser and enter a web address.
2.) The page loads rather quickly. I can stream videos, read forums, etc.
3.) If the video is too long or I stay on the page for too long (maybe a few minutes), the video stream will suddenly stop and links will no longer work. If I click on a link, an error message will come up, but the specific error message is often different. It usually reads "Could not connect to the internet." or something like that.

The curious thing is that this doesn't happen in any other application, so I don't think it is related to my router. Also, the system pretends that it is still connected even once the browser can't connect to any page any more. However, sometimes the other apps can no longer connect to the internet either and the internet connection test no longer works. In all cases, though, it always appears to be the browser that's causing this.

In order for things to work again, it is sometimes enough to restart the browser. Other times, I have to manually disconnect and reconnect to my router.

It seems to me that the browser drops the wifi connection once no data has been transferred for a few minutes. Obviously, this is stupid since sometimes I actually want to read what's written on a site. The next curious thing is that this does not seem to be a widespread problem - probably because no one uses the browser. :\

I've played around with the Vita's power saving settings but nothing really seems to help.
Any suggestions anyone?

I for one dont have this issue, the browser is mostly on the stable (not very speedy) side

Hey GAF, I've got a Dragon Fantasy code courtesy of Muteki Corporation, how do I do the "quote to see" thing so that lurkers can't grab it?

Snatch! You'll need to post without warning to give anybody a chance at beating me. Thanks :)

Soul sacrifice does not punish losing. In most hunter type games losing can be a huge money or item sink, not in this. You lose your time but that's it.

It encourages losing! You can tell your AI partners what to do when you die, including sacrificing you. Even if you're dead they can take care of the final sacrifice/save to end it.

-And-, even if your sacrifice doesn't kill it, the AI can fight on their own. I actually had my two AI partners finish off a Harpy with a third of it's life left when I severely underestimated it. Granted it took like 15 minutes, but they did it.
