Skullgirls DLC Character vote | The Campaign united us, The Voting will destroy us

Black Dahlia, why you look so cool. ;___;

She's basically Megaman (Mega Miss?) with a tommy gun on her arm instead of the arm cannon.
That's a grenade launcher, not a tommy gun on her arm. There's also the bevy of hidden blades and dirty tricks she's got concealed under her cyborg parts.

But yeah, I adore Black Dahlia's visual design. Stylish, classy, distinctive, yet menacing. And with Juju out of the running, the best character design out of the entire potential roster.

Aye. Black Dahlia will have my vote again next time, for sure.

It's the principle.

I'm going in hard for Black Dahlia in round 2 if Eliza ends up winning the 1st vote. Currently trying to get a friend who is a very talented artist to whip up some campaign art of her.

Black Dhalia was the only character I really wanted.

I'll go out on the streets and tell people to vote for her if I have to.

Alright, we've got something going now. Team Black Dahlia will rise from the ashes, believe!

Isnt black supposed to be more melee than range? I remember hearing the gun thing was there to be deciveing

Sounds like she would be a good mix of both. All I know is that UMvC3 Chris is an inspiration and if she plays anything close to him then she will definitely have a spot on my team. Would be sweet though if her melee stuff was similar to Noel from Blazblue.

Hell yeah! Honestly she was my number one choice but since she didnt make the top 8 I had to run wild with Eliza.

I still really want Annie or Minette, if any of them won... I'll check everyone again and really think about my next vote.. if not, Annie/Minette again

I'm so hype about them that I'll buy a new fightstick to play all of you if Annie or Minette won lol

Haha, just saw the UltraChen moment. Good to hear the glowing endorsement for #TeamEliza, if only they'd done this before 70+% of the vote was already in.

Eh, I can't help feeling that this final vote is more about spite than actually liking the characters. It has really dampened the mood of the whole thing.

Yeah, though I didn't vote for the alternative voting method during the poll I hope that an alternative voting method will sort of do more to avoid the amount of salt that we're seeing in the final round at this point.

I haven't watched, but on a scale of 1 to Umbrella how much salt was there?

It was PRETTY salty. I think Ultradavid was disappointed more about the lack of characters with compelling gameplay mechanics and Chen just wanted to see Shark + Chair + TimeFist in Final 4. They both really loved the ideas that Eliza was bringing to the table though, specifically with how her blood mechanic is going to affect her positioning and the amount of options she'll have available to herself at any given time on top of being a stance character.

~~~
On Dahlia - Pending her gameplay demo by MikeZ I think she may pick up a lot of former Eliza voters going into the next round and a lot of people who would otherwise have ignored her without seeing something tangible from her gameplay. She may end up in an Eliza niche where she's simultaneously one of the least polarizing designs + has gameplay that is genuinely compelling.
She has story significance with the current arc on top of everything else as well.
On one hand, it really really sucks the enthusiasm out of the room if this is the case. That top four is immensely diverse from characterizations to designs, to gameplay/inspirations for gameplay but just because it's "pussy on parade", everyone wants to bitch.
On the other hand, Eliza's best shot is this (since the unlikely Eliza vs. The Guys matchup didn't happen) and everyone's chuckin' votes her way sooooo...
Also, show of hands, how many people here have two or more from Eliza, Annie, Feng and Black Dahlia in their top 4? It feels like there's an extreme overlap between these four specifically sometimes and Disco's post really made me think about it some more. Those gals are my tops from the whole poll with Beowulf, Scythana and Issac/Panzer right under them.
So these characters were eliminated in the 1st round of voting:
Adam
Andy
Beatrix
D. Violet
Hive
Hubrecht
Ileum
Leduc
Mrs. Victoria
Ottomo
Regina
Roxie
Samson
Talesin
Yu-wan
I would be interested in hearing who would still support these characters next round and why. After all, the odds are a VERY long shot given that they're asking the same population of voters twice.
I find the possibilty that Beatrix could play something like Spiral from MvC2 exciting, personally. I like the idea of using her spaital magic/cape for some interesting zoning.
I think Ileum looks cool and sounds like she could play like Dhalsim with a poison/corrosion gimmick. Awesome. I also like her characterization in the story as this monstrous mother figure.
Andy is a fucking humanoid boxing anvil. I wouldn't vote him in over other characters like Brain Drain or Black Dhalia, but I'd love to see him in.
I'd like to hear more about how Taliesin would play other than, "think the puppet users in the Naruto games."
Mike Z succeeded in making Adam sound interesting and now I'd like to see him in action.
I like Regina's design. She seems more refined and classy than the rest of the cast and yet I don't even know anything about how she really acts. It would be cool if she's a character comfortable in the mid-range using her animals to control space.
I'd love it if Roxie were changed to a zoner instead of a rushdown character. Something like a cross of the engineer from TF2 and Arthur from MvC3.
My original 4 were Annie/Beowulf/Panzerfaust/Mrs Victoria, so yeah, close but not enough :|
Wouldn't that basically just make her just like Peacock?
The moves discussed for her, mixed with the "priority rushdown" ideal seem to be more interesting then a simple zoner. It seems like she'd be able to power through to get close to you, but also make it a nightmare for you to get close to her.
I do wonder how robust her gun turret would be; would you be able to set it at different angles in the screen, to cover specific spaces? Could you set a special to build/buff/maintain it as an assist? Could it provide cover from off-screen, even when another character is tagged in?
I really like the idea of Adam being able to make Ratio 1 and 2 teams into 4 and 5 character fights. Imagine how well he'd work with Scythana, if he and the other 2 all counted as Corpses for her to weaponize...
Late, but my voting through the rounds:
Round 1: Brain Drain, Isaac, Panzerfaust, Black Dahlia (my girlfriend's favorite, and I didn't have a strong preference after my initial three)
Round 2: Brain Drain, Isaac, Panzerfaust (the three I really like, easy decision)
Round 3: Isaac, Panzerfaust (sad that Brain Drain was eliminated, but it saved me from having to make an actual decision this round. Probably would've gone Brain Drain/Isaac though.)
Round 4: (´・_・`)
Wouldn't that basically just make her just like Peacock?
No. Peacock plays nothing like Arthur at all. For one, her movement isn't complete shit. Yet, funnily enough, Arthur has more air options than she does despite having no air dash. Peacock's zoning is a lot more rythmic than Arthur who's trying to decide on which projectile would be best at any one moment. Well, he could just fling shit indiscriminately, but that only works against players with little to no experience with him. She has more in common with Morrigan's brand of zoning. Tracking item drop being a shittier version of Doom missles (though, that's not say it's bad, just that Doom missles are that good). Again, Morrigan has far more superior air options than Peacock and also has superior tools for rushing down when neccesary. Well, I guess that last bit is probably arguable. Peacock does have teleport mixups after all.
Both of them also have actual useful level 3's. /salty
And then Peacock is really not all that reminscient of the TF2 engineer. Closest thing thing is maybe her weak bomb that walks around slowly after using it. Nothing that really acts independent of her. And no mine or grenade type move to set. I guess you argue her item drops, but the only one you really want to ever be using is the one that tracks.
You say, "simple zoning," and yet all I see with your version of roxie is, "simple rushdown." I personally think that a character who is working with differrent types of turrets who act independent of her once set up, but then need to be maintained (refill ammo, fix it, maybe upgrade it using meter, etc) while also using various explosives like a basic proxminity mine, a remote mine that has to be manually activated, maybe creative grenades like one produces sticky goop to temporarily immobalize the other character, etc sounds way waaaay more interesting and fun to me than, "my attack beats out your attack. Get fucked."
Different preferences, etc.
I doubt Mike would change her now that he has an idea of her in his head though, so I'm only causing myself grief at this point.
I had 3 out of the 4 (swap Annie for Panzer), and voted Annie/Eliza in the last round. Great designs, playstyle variety and good fit with the rest of the roster.
I really want to ask the team what a best case scenario situation is concerning selling shit-loads of copies of SG on Steam.
More possible money from Marvelous-AQL?
Hard to say.
I think the best case scenario is that Autumn is done with its legal drama by the time we're done with all the DLC characters, and we move onto Skullgirls 2.
Niiiiiice.
Also, Ravid, if you can answer, how many of the expected votes have been received so far?
