We get tons of platformers, just mostly of the two-dimensional variety. Even so, I'd like to see more 3D ones, though I remember that most of them in the heyday of 3D run 'n jump weren't anywhere as good as the same list of the ten best ones that everyone will point out. Personally, I'd like to see more freeform game concepts and wider range of action-adventures, but ones that aren't tied down to commonly-used video game themes and limitations. All of these can include 3D platforming, just as an FPS can include it. In the end, what sells is generally what gets made. We need games that aren't super risky so they don't have be what's popular to chase down dollars from the very beginning. Modern DD stores for consoles will give us more choice.
