no, that's one of the few flaws with Plus IMO, they need to make it so you can buy games on sale that you got free
The way I see it, it'll go one of two ways. One, we see Plus day one, with just one launch title free (Driveclub or something) as a long-term title, then a monthly rotation of a smaller title (probably downloadable), with more slots opening up with a proper IGC come E3 2014. There would probably be a PS4+year of Plus bundle at the same price as PS4+game too, to really promote it. Two, we wait six months or so for Plus to arrive, like on Vita, but when it does, we get a proper IGC of a couple launch titles and some smaller games. Think I'd prefer the former, but I'm happy either way.
They'll never do that imho. Why would they give you an incentive to stop you subscribing from the service? By tying you down to the free game, you HAVE to keep being a Plus subscriber.

They did let me buy the Borderlands Bundle sale, I already had Borderlands from Plus and bought all the DLC for it when they had dirt it cheap for Plus. It is still showing up as a game that will expire when I check info though but the transaction defintely went through.

So the OP mentions that you don't have to actually download a free game to add it to your download list. You only have to add it to your cart. Is this still possible? I can't seem to figure out how to do this. I can only see a download option.

It's not possible anymore via the PS3 store. With that said you can still do it via the webstore and you don't actually have to complete the download, just start and cancel to get it on your download list.

I did exactly that in the ps3 store. It seems to work. I start the download, let it run a bit, then I cancel. I quit the store and go to account management and can see the game in my download list. I'm in Canada if that matters.
Yeah that's what I meant, the PS3 store doesn't have the cart option anymore but you don't actually have to complete the download. It used to have an add to cart button instead of the download button, but they updated the store a few weeks ago and changed it.
The webstore still has the cart button though and it also lets you add multiple items from the PS+ freebie section instead of forcing you to enter each game page like the PS3 store.

Worth mentioning that adding them to the cart isn't enough (I'm sure you guys know this, just for clarity's sake). You have to add them to the cart, then go into the cart and "purchase" them to have them show up in your DL list.

Just get the game you don't have.
Weren't PSOne games actually free forever back when they were offered? Check to see if they have an expiration date.
Edit: So, Darkside and Umbrella Chronicles, worth it or not? I have Move and enjoy light gun games on occasion, but I've heard mixed opinions on these.

It did. I bought both back then when it came with free avatars. It's been $9.79 before too. I guess Capcom doesn't want to give it any more of a discount even after 18 months.
Probably not before Bayonetta.

Haven't played Umbrella, but Darkside's pretty good, it also shows a little Leon/Krauser backstory. It's also a good chance to see the RPD headquarters in 3D, which is probably the best thing about the game.

I don't know about that. We won't get free new games but that is because every game at launch will be the first release, the free games are always games that have been out awhile. I think we will still get free games but they will be classic titles.
