How would that work with no BC?
It's DLC man. Do you actually think that no ps3 digital titles will be available on the PS4? Titles like Journey or Walking Dead? The no Back compat announcement is more to indicate that people will have to buy this stuff AGAIN on the PS4 but you better believe it will be available. There is too much money in it for them to not eventually have all the digital titles currently on the ps3 on the ps4 as well.
Ps+ will just give you some of these free here and there early on. The game streaming service on the ps4 i think will be for streaming ps3 games and possibly some ps2 titles but there will still be a huge digital shop with loads of older titles.

Hmm really? Then how is it possible for them to make your ps3 purchases recognized on a Ps4. I mean why bother if they won't be on it...
It will be on it but you will have to repurchase it as the architecture is different.

I expected many PS3 games to be ported to PS4, especially if there was a PC version for the game.
Of course they will be ported.
The cloud services basically mean that you wouldn't be running the games natively on the PS4, you'd be streaming them in a similar way to the current remote play functionality (but with the server stored in the cloud rather than running off of your local PS3).
That could apply to any PS3 game, not just digital. And they would stop being PS3 games at that point.
Some will be streamed not everything. There will be games you can download onto the hard drive that you can play when offline. With all the hoopla over always online you can count on it.
No one will pay 14.99 for Journey to be streamed on to thier console. There seems to be a lack of understanding as to what types of games will be streamed. Streaming will be for like the entire ps2 and ps1 catalogue and most likely big ps3 disc games games. There will still be digital games that indy devs make that they will want sold for a price not just streamed.
Some here seen to get the impression everything will be streamed and that is not the case.

They are still PS3 games. I bought Firepro as a ps2 classic on my non back compat ps3 and I still consider that a ps2 game. Are you saying that it is now a ps3 game?
That's not a port. Is the original dump running through emulation. There will be no PS3 emulation in PS4.
Nobody has said that everything will be streamed, however you seem to be implying that the games will be ported to run directly on the PS4 hardware and as of right now we don't expect that to be the case.

You are talking semantics. I can't believe you guys think that the entire PlayStation library won't be available on the ps4 and that the only way it will be is through Gaikai.
They want that 14.99, 9.99 purchase of older games and people won't pay that to have a game streamed. There is too much anger over always online and you guys think that they will make the only way to play their massive library of old games is through an always online service?
Some games will be Gaikai but not all. Use your heads people Yoshida has hinted as much.-.-

I posted sources saying that emulation is possible with simpler ps3 titles that would be digitial titles like Journey amongst others. Bring on your sources because talk is cheap. I am posting facts not here for petty forum arguing tactics. Manu said there will be no emulation he is WRONG and that's that.
Ok now that I put that baby to bed I reiterate you can count on games like Journey and other digital titles from the psn library being available on the ps4(likely emulated as they do not use too much of the ps3 power.) and these types of titles will be good playstation plus rewards in the early days of the ps4.

You realise that he wasn't saying that those would actually happen, right? He was just saying that those are the two possibilities to get backwards compatibility, not that they'll actually happen. For all we know, the PS4 simply isn't powerful enough to emulate the PS3 and it'll never happen. But even in the best case scenario, it'll be years before they develop their emulator to the point where they can release it and even then, only a select few PS3 games will actually come out (just like the PS1 and PS2 Classics).
Hey man Yoshida said it was an option. If you choose to interpret that as "impossible, "never gonna happen," or take years then that's your choice. I just posted the quote from a man who would know and if it was unlikely he wouldn't have said it was an option.
And please I know I burst some bubbles with actual quotes but there is no need for white knights to defend another poster who was wrong. Journey is very much written to take advantage of the PS3's architecture.
The option you're quoting from Yoshida is running PS3 games using Gaikai. That may happen someday. The PS4 will not emulate PS3 titles, they couldn't have been more clear on that.

I thought Gaikai was supposed to be used for PS3 support on PS4?
If that's the case people will probably have to rebuy their PS3 games I suspect, but we won't really know until Sony says something on the matter.
Maybe they'll offer games on Gaikai for Plus users if it isn't subscription based.

You might want to re-read the sentence you quoted. He is saying there won't be a PS3 emulator on PC for a long time.
Also smh at Nibiru. You need to relax for 2 day and then read the Yoshida interviews again as you're seeing things that aren't there.

The president of Gaikai has already confirmed there won't be any support for native PS3 games at the PS4 launch though. He does say that Gaikai might be used for playing those games in the future though.
That's not nearly enough though.
Yeah, I know. Just saying that the lack of a PS3 emulator for PC doesn't mean anything either way.

I think it may be a possibility they'll explore, given that they spent 4 years trying to get their PS2 emulator working on the PS3 before finally succeeding, but who knows.
Either way, they'll still need to develop an emulator, as that's the only way they'll ever get PS3 games running on Gaikai's servers.

It's interesting that he's yet to respond to me spelling out a contradiction.
Guys, Yoshida did say PS3 emulation is possible. He even compared it to PS2 emulation on the PS3, saying that a limited number of PS2 titles have been made available on PSN through emulation. Obviously PS3 emulation won't be available at launch, but some limited form of it is certainly possible down the road.
Yoshida said "emulation or cloud" that is all we actually know but thank you for your useless conjecture and insults.

Yeah, I wouldn't rule it out like others have but still, developing their emulator for Gaikai will be their first goal and that alone will take a lot of time and effort to get working.
That doesn't change the fact that Nibiru is still wrong though.
It's so enlightening to see so many the last few pages say emulation is impossible I have been the only one saying it was. You then say you wouldn't rule it out and instead of calling out those that said it was impossible you single me out LOL.
Can you grow a pair and say that those that said it was impossible are wrong or are you scared of getting flak lol?
