I got a feeling it would be exactly like the Sony event, no console revealed and only a few games announced as well. It will be all revealed in E3 I guess. And why reveal it on 21 May? Why not just reveal it in E3?
I think we will see the New Xbox. There was a Micorosft employee on twitter that said right after the PS4 event something about having a console reveal and not showing the box is "interesting".

From reddit lol

This cuhrazy party's starting soon! I'm happy we'll get to see what Microsoft is bringing to the table (and the end to these endless rumors).

I'll admit that when it seemed extremely likely that the always online requirement was going to happen, I was in that boat as well but with all the conflicting rumors on that front coming in lately so I'm just going to wait and see what happens. I always go where the games I want are so I'm interested to see what MS brings to the table with new IPs/exclusives.

That's a good space to be in, yeah.

This...

Also, who gives a shit about if the thread exploding or if the hype doesn't exist here? Millions of millions of xbox live users just received an email about the reveal date. That all that matters, and everyone that claims they're aren't interested here on gaf and who will be able to catch the reveal WILL catch it. So using this thread as a barometer for the hype is fucking retarded. LOL

Yeah, I predict a lot of hate-watching. Twitter will be a fucking nightmare that day.

If it's like the Playstation Meeting they will be watching the stream themselves. With Gertsmann in New York or wherever this is being held (Redmond?). PS Meeting was basically an 1.5 hour stream and GB surrounded it by a half n hour on each side talking about the impact. It was well done.

Oh wow. I missed that. Was it for subscribers only? They'll definitely do it for this, too. Also looking forward to Rev3's coverage.

I suspect we will get as much info out of it as we did the ps4 event. We will probably have bigger game reveals though. I suspect MS wont be holding back as much as sony was.

But I dont think MS will have a long 20 minute sections talking about tech like Cerny and Perry at the Sony show.
MS will be going for a different tone.

even if they don't talk about specs or tech 1 hour is really short. I doubt we get bigger game reveals though unless we have some 3rd party stuff.

To be honest, im more expecting MS to show some first party stuff and do a press release with perhaps a montage in the conference of third party stuff.

yeah I'm expecting more 1st party as well its just one hour, but thats kinda weird.

Maybe we get Call of Duty thrown in there.

Heh, forgot about it.

May is going to be awesome.

So is June -- E3 and Man of Steel.

E3 is June 11-13, then Man of Steel AND Last of Us June 14.

They already have it up under events. Not a premium event:

And yes I'm in the UK right now that's why it says 6 PM.

Only an hour? Damn, at least it's not going to be long enough to get boring. Even if it's just Kinect and broad features, it's all new so an hour is really cutting it close.

Curious how much Microsoft holds back for E3. I figured they were going to go a lot more "in" than Sony did with their event. Sony seems to have a two pronged attack; dividing announcements and games for the debut and E3, but I thought since Microsoft is going to be so close to E3, they'd show us way more. Not sure about that at this point.

Nitpicking here, but why wouldn't Microsoft use next generation term instead of new generation? The industry's defacto term seems to be next gen.

I'll be at work, so I'm not sure if I'll watch it afterwards or not. I doubt I'll be able to ignore the Internet until I get home.

The timing really doesn't make sense. The American market is MS' strongest. Why not have it at 8 or 9 PM? You cover both coasts. Yeah the Europeans are fucked I guess...

I remember someone saying the event was delayed so they could show us the actual console.
I don't remember where I read that though.

Being so close to E3, I would expect them to hold back more than Sony did. I expect them to show the controller and box, talk about the general philosophy of the thing, show a sizzle reel, the standard developers-talking-about-how-they-love-us vid, and then leave with a big teaser reveal.

Yea, people was speculating that it will be close to E3 like the 360 reveal. Not sure why everyone is freaking out. lol

Last time around Microsoft had the luxury of a years head start. Now they are going to have to fight for oxygen between PS4 and a second year slate of Wii U games. If Microsoft thinks that they can just dust off their 360 battleplan and get the same results this time, they are going to have a bad time.

The logic is that they there will be headline coverage on websites in the evening when people are getting home. This is the time that Apple does most of it's announcements for instance.

It makes no difference. What matters are the news generated by the event.

What's the difference between that and what Sony did which had articles on websites when they woke up the next morning? It's stupid. And for selfish reasons, I won't be able to watch it live because I'll be at work.

It makes a difference as far as how many people will be streaming simultaneously.

The timing is fine, it's the same time Apple has all of their conferences and no one seems to complain about those.

I hate how Microsoft added motion gaming to all their core games. Ruined everything. Oh wait that never happened.
