Its strange but my hype for the next Xbox is nil to low. All of the positive talk about how great Sony's next machine will be, has definitely had an impact. Also 1 hour is too short for this kind of of thing. So by the time the machine itself is finished being spoken about, there will be little time for game reveals.

Yeah this is how it is for me. I am assuming they will focus on their 'innovative' technology though, and save games for E3, since it's only going to be like three weeks after this event anyways, they don't really need to show much. It's most likely just about everything Sony showed save for its internal studios is multiplat, so maybe they will just show some different footage from some games or something.

crazy buttocks basically confirmed in this thread that:

a) They have a big EA exclusive
b) The "always online" and "system to block used games" rumors are true and the EA exclusive is a direct result of that

I guess that's that.

Hm, don't know if I'll be able to watch live, I'll be at Disney during this time. We'll see I guess, not super interested in the Durango but I do want to know more about it.

Don't like "Xbox Infinity" as it makes it difficult to name a successor.

Has he always been fairly accurate in the past? Even so, I'm not believing anything until the 21st.

If an EA game were to be exclusive....KOTOR III....oh, a man can dream. But no, that's not going to happen, so maybe Respawn's game or something.

I saw what he said about EA but where did he say anything about always online?

A big one that isn't Battlefield... it's gotta be a sports game, then.

I'm basing my prediction strictly on the language used in Major Nelson's blog post.

I see what you're saying, but I didn't glean that from his post. It just sounds like we're going to get a taste of the console as a whole, and a glimpse of the games. Then E3 is when everything is let loose.

I think a guess of 2 games there is...conservative. I would say between 3 and 4.

I mainly game on 360 and love it to death, but if any of those are true I'm out and sticking with the PS4.

Other than that bring it on!!!

Right, but Microsoft said this event will mostly be to showcase the "philosophy" behind the new Xbox. Meaning they'll probably delve into the operating system, UI, apps, Windows functionality, new Xbox Live experience, etc and probably only leave a small amount of room for any games.

Since he said they're utilizing E3 to showcase their "blockbuster titles", I'm going on a limb here and assuming they most likely mean 1st party games. I think we'll see a next gen COD gameplay demo at the event and 1 or 2 Kinect games.

Fair enough, I think we're going to see more than that so we'll just have to agree to disagree. Guess we'll find out soon enough though.

Not sure what this all means to people here on Gaf since there is so much anti-ms going on, but just checked my yahoo for email and what is the top story on their news feed, the next xbox unveiling date.

Checked my email and had 3-4 emails from people that I know asking about the new xbox and what I know about it.

I think this is getting some exposure big time.

I'm nonplussed about this announcement. If people were let down by Sony's announcement, they're probably going to hate the Xbox announcement if the little blurb is accurate - (entertainment, TV focused, an hour long only, with brief mention of games).

I would have been more excited had this occurred a few months ago, but by now we pretty much know what to expect and there's very little that seems to be positive about the new system.

A big one that isn't Battlefield... it's gotta be a sports game, then.

I doubt it's one of EA's biggest staple franchises if true (Madden, FIFA, BF)

I could see Mass Effect or Respawn being an exclusive, since the former always did much better on the Xbox, and the latter is an unproven IP.

Now we can finally put an end to all the bs rumors on May 21st the real fun begins after the reveal.

I expect a lot of "wtf" and "meltdown" moments.

Don't disappoint MS.

Was the post deleted? Because the only posts of his in that thread (or recently at all) are that EA has an exclusive which is not Mass Effect or Battlefield

In that thread he said it wasn't ME.

Only big game I can think of would be a sports game.

While you guys think it's going to majorly focus on Kinect... Think outside of the box for the moment.

Kinect is expected

How about something new?

I know, mindblowing revelation for some on here.

PS4 meeting felt packed, I don't remember jibberish? I remember awesome montage and then Cerny came on stage ~10min afterwards.

A lot of aspirational speak which gamers don't really have the patience for and will only make fun of. I don't think they really considered their audience in that regard to be perfectly honest. Gamers wanna see shit now they don't wanna hear about things that will be great in the future which is why there was so much crying over them not showing the console.

So much crying...

wait so people are saying EA gave MS an exclusive to have durango required online?

It may have nothing to do with "required online". They may have just entered into a business agreement, publishing or marketing dollars.

I have a hard time believing that two companies would collude together in order to force anti-consumer business practices, but maybe that's because I'm an optimist and feel that it would be suicide for both companies to engage in that sort of behavior with such a large competitor on the market.

Interesting move by Microsoft. Having their reveal so close to to E3 is essentially going to insure a majority of the mindshare and discussion going into the event is going to be about the NextBox.

Let's hope for their sake it's good mindshare.
