Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

I still haven't started Atelier Rorona+..
(although a lot of it has to due with it not fitting on the same memory card as Soul Sacrifice)
Atelier Rorona isn't on the Vita, nor is it ever coming to the Vita. You mean Totori, right?

Texture Eater 2: Japan-only Screenshots:
GE2 looks like it has better textures than Soul Sacrifice and seems to run at native res. Will buy even without online MP.

I decided not to bust my balls and grind for 20 hours just so I can get Divine Sorcerer against Cerberus on solo. I don't have much free time before the game comes out anyway, and I figured that stronger and more varied offerings will come more easily in the coming chapters so I'll just come back to them when I have the full game and I'm stronger.

Man...Sony really needs to fix the Content Manager not refreshing problem, and the store downloading problem. This shit is getting annoying.

Texture Eater 2: Japan-only Screenshots:

I love how the first screenshot features Zettai Ryoiki right away. Know your target audience, right?

I don't consider the presence of a little skin to be a negative thing as long as the actual game is good (DOA 5 is a perfect example) so I hope God Eater 2 is a worthy sequel.

Someone forgot to upres the clock icon.

I'd love a better built-in camera. The current one is junk. I've never understood why it and the 3DS put such a large focus on Augmented Reality, the point being to be immersed, when they both use awful cameras.

The most baffling thing about the Vita camera is that it appears to be lower res than the screen, which completely ruins any possible suspension of disbelief while doing AR.

For plausible AR it is totally *essential* to have a capture that is the exact same resolution as the overlay graphics.

Speaking of this, did North America ever get a Vita compatible Phantasy Star Portable 2? That's one PSP game I would be playing pretty frequently on my Vita if I could. I've never understood what the problem with that one was.

Not sure if you've been answered by now, but it's been mentioned on the Japanese side that there are technical reasons Phantasy Star Portable 2 Infinity aren't compatible on Vita that are unlikely to ever be solved. I assume the same applies to the other two Phantasy Star Portable games since they're all from the same developer and presumably on the same engine.

Good morning VitaGAF! Has anyone had downloads stop when the Vita goes into sleep mode? Ever since the last update, my Vita has been acting up with the freezing on the downloading screen, not recognizing wireless CMA, and stoping all downloads in sleep mode.

I guess the word "texture" inserted into Vita games is now a thing? I'm good with that - makes me laugh everytime I read it.

That happens to me too. I've always had a problem with it. EDIT: I *think* I've had a problem with it before the latest firmware update? I'm not sure on that point but I definitely had a problem with this downloading the Soul Sacrifice demo.

So, seeing how SMTIV is getting released on 3DS is there maybe a tiny little bitty chance of Persona 5 coming exclusively to Vita?

I know the Vita is doing better than it was previously but its still missing that one exclusive that really gets people to buy Vitas. I mean - if Atlus can release SMTIV on 3DS, and seeing how they released P4G (a port, yeah, I know) on Vita, then....

Is there a chance? Just wondering if there has been any inkling that this might be happening, but I know Sony isn't smart enough to try negotiating with Atlus/Index for something like this and I'm sure that Atlus/Index are not dumb enough to go along with it (and they need any money that Atlus can generate from what I understand of their financial situation).

By the way, although I own a 3DS I honestly would rather see Persona 5 *NOT* come out on 3DS - that would kill my soul. I'd rather it come to P3 or P4 with the remote possibility of getting a version on the Vita sometime down the road (or I just breakdown and get a home console maybe). I do like my 3DS, but not nearly as much as I love my Vita.

Mine has started acting the same. Perhaps a bug from the latest firmware update?

Thought GE Burst was released at West, wasn't it?

Well it sorta has online multiplayer.
If you dare to use PS3 as a router :D
Namco Bandai hasn't localized any Vita games since Ridge Racer, even when the translation is already being done for another system (One Piece Pirate Warriors 2 on PS3).

Doesn't Adhoc Party require the PS3 to be on a wired connection? I don't have ethernet on my college campus.

Unlikely, but I also highly doubt P5 would be released on the 3DS. It would be a huge step back from P4G.

if im not mistaken (and i probably am) Persona series have always been exclusive to playstation platforms so at the very least its ps3/ps4

I kinda like the setting of GE2 better... less macabre...

Persona isn't a very big seller (although I guess on Vita it would be the top selling game in Japan ...) and the next entry is obviously on PS3.

Would it be possible for the OS overhaul I hope happens for Sony to detach saves from digital games? This is still such a huge step back I don't understand.

I'll see your FF7 with FFXII. I could get slaughtered for this but, as good as FF7 remake would be, I personally would love FFXII. If SE was going to do a FF7 remake they should have done it back when those tech demos were done.

This, so much this, I would play through the game a thrid time for an IZJ edition on Vita. FFXII = Best FF since 16 bit days.

I have never actually played FFXII... so a remake or a HD port on the Vita would be fine by me too :D

(and to add insult to injury, have it include Revenant Wings)

Just finished Gravity Rush with the Platinum!

What an amazing game * . *
I enjoyed it thoroughly, but for me it got REALLY interesting from the point where you
fall down into the little village with all the kids and shit. That was a really awesome change. That zone was awesome and full of mystery. The story also really started moving from there.

Feel like the story was left a bit too open, although on one side this is good since the sequel will pick up right where this one left off I think :)

For GR2 what I really want is:
* Better resolution - I loved the graphics overall, but the resolution is really, really low. This art direction deserves better.
* Better loading times
* More suits ( I don't have the DLC, so only 2 suits on the main game )
* Better Sliding - Maybe I'm just terrible at it, but I found sliding with the gyroscope really really bad. While I like the mechanic itself with the drift and what not, I really hate to be turning the vita and all that. At least give the option for a traditional control scheme.

I personally didn't have a problem with the combat like so many people, although the gravity kick is a bit overpowered, so you use it a lot which can make the combat a bit repetitive, but I really enjoyed it overall.

Sorry for the big post, but this was my first vita platinum and so far, and by far, my favorite Vita game, so I really wanted to express my love for it :D

SMT will always be in a Nintendo console, Persona will always be on a Sony console.

read somewhere that it is due to security issues... but we know how that goes around here :/

It has security issues that retail games being detached doesn't? :(
Bet they just want to force you to buy PSN+! Not that I can argue with more retail benefits for retail people such as myself.

What ever happened to that idea of selling download code cards inside of game cases? I think they did it for Patapon. Sort of appease the case collectors for digital-exclusives.
If they came with a Vita Memory Card slot inside you could dedicate a MC for the game and it would pretty much be a physical copy! Not that that's cost effective, but it would be really cool.

Found it

Thanks. I figured that Persona 5 would come on PS3 but I just wasn't sure - especially with PS3 on its way out and PS4 on its way in. I guess the Vita will always be relegated to second (or third) place for Sony's attention whereas Nintendo seems to be strengthening its 3DS lineup.

Its a shame because the Vita it such an amazing handheld and I feel that the 3DS is not the superior tech in handhelds. Kind of reminds me of VHS versus Beta - the "superior tech" doesn't always win out.. :(

I would love those actually.. the cases are really nice.. but dang :/
I bought that for my Vita (the Patapon one you linked)

tweet @yosp lol

Did the last update change signing in to PSN or something? It now automatically seems to log in when I get the Vita out of sleep mode. But then sometimes it doesn't do it...

I've also noticed that other Vita owners on my friends list show up as 'away' (with the yellow circle in front of their name instead of the blue one) way more often. Seems to me that you stay signed in for certain amount of time when you put the device in sleep mode.

Does anyone know more specifics about this?

Atlus released Persona 4 on PS2 in 2008. Sony doesn't control where third parties release their games or else Atlus wouldn't effectively be a Nintendo first party studio right now.

what's the answer?
I didn't get mine.. so I emailed Sony.. they haven't got back

This is what it says on the website:

PS Vita Refer-A-Friend reward emails were sent to qualifying participants on April 15, 2013. If you qualify and have not received your reward email, please contact Playstation Support at Pscustomer_Service@PlayStation.Sony.com with the subject line: Refer-A-Friend. Answering another old post because this thread moves way too quickly:

Also got my Asia copy of Project Diva f (in only 2 days, from one end of the US to the other, props to USPS), mint condition! I printed out the missing AR card on a piece of photo paper and it works perfectly, although Miku might be smaller for it.

Interestingly it seems that the Asia version has no age rating at all. Peculiar! If not bittersweet, because if not for that awful memory required box I hate, it would be a completely clean and unobstructed box art. So close, yet so far.

Also as expected, the game is a -lot- snappier than the PS3 version due to the non-wireless controls. I almost got 'Fine's exclusively by pressing every note too early to compensate for the PS3's lag. Not anymore! :)

I think it's been proven the Bluetooth lag is so small as to be completely insignificant for gaming purposes, or wireless controllers simply wouldn't be a standard. The input lag introduced by most HDTVs is far more significant (and is why Project DIVA F has a timing adjustment in the options to compensate).

I also think the Vita version as a whole is timed late, to the point I don't really take it seriously as a music game. It's certainly had a negative affect on my ability to play IIDX.

Started playing Persona 4 like 4 days ago and Im at the 15 hours mark. What a great RPG... its probably end up there with my all time favorites like Baldur's Gate 2 and KOTOR.

Just looked it up, I stand corrected. To my understanding before this, SMT were always on Nintendo and persona always on Sony consoles.

Is SMTIV a non exclusive then?

I can see a Wii U version happening at one point. Gotta cash in on that Fire Emblem x SMT fame.

SMT1&2 were originally released on the SNES; however, remakes were released on Sega CD, PCE CD, Playstation and GBA. SMT IF which was a side story was on SNES and Playstation.

The Persona series has only been on Playstation consoles.

SMT Strange Journey which could have been IV was a DS exclusive and as of right now IV is a 3DS exclusive.

I really don't see why there should be a general rule, there's no contract of exclusivity, only Atlus putting their games where they see fit each time. Unless Nintendo financed the game or had a part in its development (and that could be the case with SMT4, I'm not sure) there's a very slim chance the game could be ported somewhere else, like the Vita
yeah right
.

Speaking of which, playing Catherine on PS3 I kinda figured why no Persona5 on HD consoles. The Persona team must really be having a hard time programming for PS3, if even a game with "simple" graphics like Catherine has huge troubles running on PS3 (slowdowns for no apparent reason, endless loading times). Don't get me wrong, I like how the game looks but that is only thanks to the awesome art direction. Sony really screwed up with that PS3 hardware.
