Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

Yeah we stopped for now but we could always set something up for GAFers who need the trophy (next week for example) Just use the Sonic Google Doc to set a time and date and see who wants to join. Game is fun enough as it is.

The stream was way ghetto but I'm gonna try to make it better for other streams. Soul Sacrifice coop stream for example ;)

Awesome, sounds good, thanks. I should be up for it next week at least, just for fun really but don't mind going for the trophy, doubt I have it either.

The Diva Point balancing in Project Diva f is silly. I get around 12,000-16,000 for passing an Extreme (max) difficulty song. Decided to check out Items (having previously avoided them as I assumed they were all cheats).

4x DP for the penalty of everything under 'Cool' (well timed note-presses) hurting your life meter, Cool refilling it. Got a perfect on normal- 47,000 Diva Points. After the 3,000 I paid for the item, it's still three times as profitable as playing on much harder songs..

The presence of unlockable items and the grinding involved(issue with trophies too) is basically my one real complaint about DJ MAX Technika Tune. Seems like such a needless addition that does nothing but hurt the game. These are high score based arcade games reliant on skill, this kind of thing simply has no place.

Even with the problems in getting on the lobby and be able to play with vita gaf i was able to get on 3 races and got the trophy.

Thanks for the game steve and all the people on the party. xP
And i really need to get some cool headphones with mic capabilities so i can play and chat at he same time.

You don't need mic, Vita has that covered ;)

After I found out about those challenge items, the game became a lot less of a grind. I'm just missing two trophies for the platinum, one that requires you to view all of the songs' PVs and another one that requires you to see all of the loading screen artwork. I have awful luck with these luck-based trophies. :/

There's not really much grinding in Project Diva f. Apparently you only need 1.2mil to get all the trophies and I've earned just under 1mil running through all the songs once on Normal and Hard. Just started Extreme.

My only real gripes with the game:
1) Imprecise touch controls in a rhythm game :/
2) DLC Cost. It's crazy expensive, even if I bought the game at full price.

According to the website, the game was 7300 yen ($75) retail. The PS3 ver DLC is 278HK, or roughly $36. Almost half the cost of the full cost of the game.
The DLC only has 6 songs (and modules/items). The game has -32- songs. Less than a fifth! Even at $20 it would be steep :x
(Also that's using the original cost. On the HK store a download of Project Diva f would be 419HK, or roughly $54. So it's more than half the cost of the full game for less than a fifth expansion).

I kind of wish I could disable it showing a counter because I get so nervous halfway in that I'm going to ruin my Perfect that I choke..All Cool/Fines 1 Safe every time

I guess so but won't the mic also capture the game audio if i don't use some regular headphones while playing? xP
because i tried my apple ones but the mic won't work. ;_;
that's why i'm thinking on getting some headphones to play my games.

Yeah just get some nice headphones and you're good.

DJMAX has always had that, though. Modifiers/effectors like having the option to change how notes appear or alter the speed at which you play (except not with Technika) are just ways for people to get more out of the game. Mastered a song? Turn everything invisible to test yourself! Auto-Fever, Anti-Break, other "equipment"--all of these are there to suit individual player preferences and skill level/song difficulty, but scoring is usually set up to reward perfect plays that don't particularly rely on anything you're using (beyond maybe Fever enhancing stuff nowadays, IDK).

The only serious complaint I would leverage against Technika Tune is indeed related to your complaint, that scoring also factors in your level for some bizarre reason (so, a perfect play will only score the most at Lv.99), but it's a transient problem. It goes away once you're max level, which won't take that long since, believe it or not, the experience required to get there is a lot less compared to other DJMAX releases.

Technika in general is kind of weird since it's not really like the more Beatmania-esque Portable games where this kind of progression system is more fleshed out and makes more sense. In those games, customization items and game-altering equipment are generally kept separated, and there's a lot more you can tweak that Technika's structure isn't able to support. So, yeah, that traditional DJMAX stuff in Technika Tune does feel kind of wonky, but it's not bad at all. I'm more bothered by it elsewhere, especially in other games with vastly inferior note charts, chimes instead of proper sound processing, etc.

Calling other Vita Wipeout 2048 players - how hard is the platinum? I love racing games and I'm finally playing through the single player campaign, I just want to know what I'm up for.

I haven't finished it, but apart from online stuff it's pretty straight forward if you've played Wipeout games before.

2048 is about as hard as Pulse.

The hardest part is getting through the online campaign, it takes a long time. Also some trophies are extremely hard, perfect pirhana took me a ton a tries to get. Also mach 1.5 will be hard but iirc i was able to do it pretty easily unlike wipeout hd. The wipeout hd and pure dlc is easy, i have the ps3 game and only have like 40 percent while i have the 2048 platinum.

I feel like this is just easier overall compared to HD? The levels feel wider, it feels a lot more forgiving compared to HD. I get my ass handed to me on a silver platter in the harder events in HD, I'm starting to get really confident in 2048. Is it just me? :P

YES, I'm so good at guessing.

I nearly got Mach 1.5 on my first try, definitely easier than HD, which I won't bother trying again.

What we did was go into the game options and turn the game audio all the way down and leave mic up. Worked fine in all like 10 games we played. There's also an option when you hold down the PS button to prioritize party chat audio for your games.

That was some of the best online gaming I've had in a while... Thanks SonicVGaf!!

Mad love for my VitaBros.

Gonna set up a better stream so maybe we can get some more coop goodness going in the future!

There should be a rule going forward that mics need to be on in order to play. It took longer than it should have because a guy would get his trophy, not tell anyone he got it, and then proceed to win another race instead of letting someone else have a turn.

Good game, sir.

Definetly easier. Even the infamous "Beat Zico" trophy is pretty easy in 2048. The online campaign will take a while, though.

So I finally bought a Vita a few weeks ago. I've been super busy with my studies though, so it's just been sitting unused in its box in a corner :(

So as usual when buying a new handheld, I'm going to need some accessories for it. I hate it when a touch screen gets scratched, so I'll have to buy a screen protector before I'll start actually using this. Usually Hori screen protectors are good, but there were some really negative comments on the Vita one in Amazon, so not really sure if they are good or not. Any recommendations on which screen protector(s) to use?

Also, I'd appreciate if guys had any recommendations on Vita grips or pouches.

Thanks. I'll try to get some headphones. and that was actually what i did when i saw my headphones weren't working, i went to the options and turned the game audio down.

And yes, it was fun and vitagaf are a very cool community. Hope to play some more games.

Hope that souls sacrifice party ideia happens but since i don't have much time to play games i guess i'll get behind very fast on SS with alll the people grinding and leveling up fast. T__T

After being burned with some PS+ freebies like Puddle or Chronovolt my expectations for Thomas was Alone weren't exactly high, but goddamn how I'm enjoying this little game.

I'm going to buy the hell out of that dlc to show my support to the (single?) developer :D

It depends on what Vita you got - if you got the black one, I'd suggest a screen protector that covers the entire front so you can hide fingerprints because the glossy black Vita gets COVERED with fingerprints and it drove me absolutely nuts until I got the Persona 4 Golden screen protector - it's not only high quality but it's pretty :D You can buy them off ebay for like $10 usually. I don't usually use grips though, but the official Sony dock is pretty awesome.

Yes, the game is easier than HD. Btw, be careful with the online mode, because there is a random server glitch that can erase all your progress.

Wait that's still going on?? I read about it before. If I back my save up will I be ok?
Yes, the glitch is still in the game, but there is a way to avoid it though: The first time you start the multiplayer you see a welcome blue screen. When the glitch happens you will see the same screen. If you see it, close the game asap and turn off the vita (if you leave to the main menu / enter the multiplayer, the game will autosave and then you are fucked).

PS: And no, backing up your savedata doesn't work.

So everyone in here has played Thomas Was Alone by now, yeah? :)

Still haven't. Decided to finish sly cooper and wipeout before buying some new games.
But i'm feeling some urges to get thomas was alone and the black rock shooter game for my vita xP

Finally gave in and pre-ordered Soul Sacrifice. Looking forward to getting it in my hands. After that though, it's going to be a long, barren wait until Tearaway.

I still have NLKS left to pick up. Hopefully it drops or has some sort of sale in the coming momnths.

Is there any kind of software that lets you easily manage vita games like itunes (content manager?). Even buying my vita games retail my 32 gb card seems to fill up fast because of my ps1/psp games. Do most people use multiple memory sticks or just download and delete the games as they want to play them?

Yea definitely easier, hd was my first wipeout so naturally 2048 would be easier but even considering that 2048 is still easier, wider tracks, not as many sharp trurns plus since its wider sharp turns are easier. Plus being able to pick offensive or defensive weapons helps alot and makes strategy better and makes the game more enjoyable.

The hori screen protector. =) If you dont get the hori i just recommend getting one that covers more than the screen just like the hori, it makes a huge difference so much nicer looking, better to use plus you can be off a bit and still have the screen covered. Also applying the hori protector helps keep dust away.

I really don't want to do this again, but... I wasn't saying SS should be more like MH, I was just saying how they're not similar as everyone keeps stating. I also used MH as an example of how to make combat more interesting, I could have used many other games such as PSO2.

What I don't like about it is pretty much its combat. I don't really mind its setting and whatnot. After playing it much more than last time I found the variety of Magic were cool, but ultimately the combat didn't feel very satisfying. Collecting, levelling up etc. I look over those things.

No, it shouldn't. These aspects are what make MH so fucking boring.

Just ignore SS and get MH on 3DS if you're looking for MH experience (lol, that should be obvious).

Never thought Id say that but I'm having fun with Dynasty Warriors Next. Its a good game for a portable system and there are many gameplay options, campaign seems long enough too. Minigames using the Vita screen are a little bit tiresome but other than that a nice game.

Hit-stun makes MH boring? I don't care how fast a game is, I want to feel feedback oh my attacks and have then affect the enemy to give the illusion that they're not just passing through their flesh subtracting x HP. Either way, saying SS's combat could take from PSO2 would mean the exact same thing.

Nothing justifies a 3DS purchase for me. I won a bid on one for £50 like new and still pulled out. Besides Theatrythm (which is on my GFs iDevices), there aren't many 3DS exclusives I'd play over my growing backlog.

I agree! As a long time fan of the series, the game is really really fun. The only mini game I really hate is the calligraphy one because it seems like a ton of trial and error if you don't know what to look for. But it looks and plays great.

I remember the demo being quite fun at launch for Dynasty Warriors...but worried the Vita would take a beating with me mashing buttons!

I finally set up my 16GB card with my 32 to spread things out and not have so much in digital limbo. Still need another 16 to put everything on...and then no space for more. 128 is looking nice at the moment. Anyway, pretty nice seeing these old games again! Transfer was so long, still downloading stuff now since yesterday too. Really wish these memory cards weren't so shite and small though, so fiddly and fragile. No real place to carry the cards yet, need to get a case that has slots for them with retail carts too. Seen quite a few go for cheap online though.

These downloads are going so slow as - (just like someone mentioned before) the vita doesn't stay on and download any more for me, even when plugged in and leaving it to auto-standby by itself :S Use wifi in power-saving mode was enabled too. Switched it to 10minutes before time-off for now anyway.

This looks awesome, gratz.

Speaking of that, is there anywhere where I can buy a nice Vita cover? Id love to have the one that came with the limited edition of Persona 4.

Wait so it's now your gf's vita right? Otherwise, bro...

Nah it's nice, post pics later!

It's not her Vita, and I'll be carrying it around like this... But the thing is I had this exact same decal for my PSP 2000 a long time ago.

Nah it's 'cause just about everything in our flat is "kawaii" and we share the room (as opposed of using both rooms per person) so I figured I should make my stuff fit too.

It will take a bit to come from the USA (UPS Next Day it seems) -- but you bet I'll post pics!
