Drunk post.

I pee sitting down every morning. Mainly, so I can poop if I need to. It is nice to take a relaxing sitting-pee though when you first wake-up

Washing hands in the toilet? Eating with a toothbrush?

Nope, nope.

I mean, peeing in the toilet standing up will also cover your pants and legs with a fine mist of urine spray.
I'd say it's probably more hygienic to pee in the shower seeing as you can rinse it right off with soap and a washcloth.

you need to set your penis from "mist" to "stream".

Nothing wrong with my stream. It's the hitting of the porcelain/water surface and flushing that does it.
Maybe my stream is too powerful though.

I'm not saying a normal piss is going to soak your pants, but it will spread microscopic droplets of urine all over you in most cases.

First is the confirmation of the existence of the aerosol effect, even though it is largely unrecognized. "Droplets are going all over the place—it's like the Fourth of July," said Gerba. "One way to see this is to put a dye in the toilet, flush it, and then hold a piece of paper over it" (8). Indeed, Gerba's studies have shown that the water droplets in an invisible cloud travel six to eight feet out and up, so the areas of the bathroom not directly adjacent the toilet are still contaminated. Walls are obviously affected, and in public or communal bathrooms, the partitions between stalls are definitely coated in the spray mist from the toilet (1).

I piss in the shower even when i'm not taking a shower, just to annoy GAF,

One time I pissed in a soya milk carton I left by my desk and then I drank it by accident and it was all warm and curdled.

I don't piss in vessels any more.
didn't throw up

So if you were pissing onto a flat shower floor instead of a bowl of water wouldn't the microscopic-piss-droplet-effect be ten times worse? The piss might as well be coming straight out of the shower head.

Well common sense would dictate you piss directly into the drain and besides, you're in a shower it wouldn't take long to wash off any splash back.

In theory you would never piss straight down onto the floor, always at an angle and aimed at the drain.
Also, most showers I know don't have a perfect flat floor surface, but it's more like a square curved very low tub you're standing in with the drain in the corner.
Combine that with the constant running of hot water along the surface and I would imagine minimal spray.

i've been begging for over 5 years.
I am like a dog I piss everywhere I go, often multiple times. Gotta claim my territory yo.
Or just have the bladder of a 3 year old.

Pissing in the shower is automatic. Just aim down the drain and release.

You got some issues, mang. Maybe mysophobia?

It's more of a moral problem to me than the fear of germs. I'm quite the opposite of that actually, I grew near a forest and was covered in small animals and fungus throughout my childhood.

I usually piss into the shower from outside of the shower as the water is warming up. But I need to unclog my drain so I'm not standing in urine while I bathe. I also pee in the sink at work. Saves water.

Almost always go to the bathroom before a shower. As soon as I hear the water it starts tingling.

Pretty much. I couldn't make it to the shower if I wanted to.

Oh man. Now I'm paranoid about using sinks at work.

I understand peoples arguments but isn't this a case of common sense, a toilet is perfectly designed to accept bodily excretions in a safe and clean manner, and also there is basic etiquette to take into consideration.

I feel for some it isn't really about convenience, it's more that they enjoy 'letting themselves go' in an unconventional sense, perhaps peeing in the shower a form of very mild fetishism, perhaps one of the mildest there is.

Interesting theories here and I'm not sure if all are legit but this is something I hardly ever do.

I always use the toilet to relieve myself but sometimes when showering you seem to have a little more to discharge so I tend to try and aim for the drain. It never really bothers me to have a little runoff on my leg as water is running to wash me off. I end up washing my legs with a bar of soap so by the time I'm done, I'm as clean as can be.

As was said earlier, there are dirtier things you step on than your own piss while showering.

I don't think or believe it's a good idea to just hold it in and piss it away even though I see nothing particularly wrong with it.

Wonder what women to as I would think it would just run down their legs. This isn't exactly round table discussion we're having here :p

To touch up on another note, if you pee in the shower, have common courtesy and make sure it's clean. I have kids and one of them gets regular baths. I constantly use Scrub n Bubbles or something like Ajax and scrub the toilet. I imagine most do this as regular maintenance on their bathtubs (I hope).

Urine is almost sterile (it's completely sterile until it reaches the urethra, which has some bacteria) so it's perfectly clean and safe.

Edit: On topic, yes I pee in the shower every morning and every night. I always try to aim at the drain.

I have the rare luxury have having a toilet right next to my shower, so no, I don't.

What the fuck do you people do while you're waiting for your shower to warm up?

Also I take a shit every morning, like some monster. So pissing usually goes along nicely with that.

I turn the shower on, then I look for the clothing I'm going to wear that specific day, or maybe shave my face. When I come back, the water is pretty warm.

Or you know, just turn the shower and pee. I'm a guy, so I can aim for the drain even if I'm not in the center of the shower.

This crime against humanity could be prevented by just wearing the first item of clothing you can find on your floor.

How long do you run the water before entering? This is a pet peeve because water isn't free. I have a budget to keep and always tell my oldest son to not run the water for 5 minutes while he sits there and does whatever he needs to do to get in.

The most I wait is about 20 seconds for me to find the balance of hot/cold water.

I also don't like the toilet being flushed for something like getting rid of a stray piece of toilet paper or wiping the toilet of a blemish. I wait until it actually needs to be used to waste water. Call me frugal I guess :p

I see no issue with really peeing in the shower so long as you aim and do it with consideration to others. That stuff may spatter and get on the sides of things and cling there if not cleaned.

Several years ago i used to think it was gross too until I read the 1000th thread on this topic on gaf and decided to give it a try.

Now i do it every morning. Thanks GAF!

I believe that study is highlighting the effects of flushing a toilet without putting the lid down; not the contamination of urine all over the bathroom.

B!TCH

how are you, B!TCH? How is your day going, B!ITCH?
Do you clean your own shower?

I do, so I don't piss in the shower because it means that I'll have to clean the bathroom more frequently (something I don't enjoy doing). There's a direct cost to peeing in the shower and I'd rather not pay it. It's not worth it.

You guys must have foul, dank urine that doesn't move with water...lol what's the big deal.?
People in here talking about they don't want urine around their feet...aim for the drain... I don't know about you guys but my shower drains fast so there's hardly residual water that hasn't drained while I'm showering.

Urine is almost sterile (it's completely sterile until it reaches the urethra, which has some bacteria) so it's perfectly clean and safe.

It's not as simple as just saying "Urine is sterile" so it's 'safe', urine is not tap water, it has different properties and reactions to outside continents and bacteria.

To quote,

"Urine contains waste products from the body, for example, creatinine, urea (a source of Nitrogen), uric acid, and other minerals (like Sodium, Potassium, Magnesium, Phosphorus) which are soluble in water as salts. Normally there is minimal Protein and/or Glucose. Bacteria from the environment love these nutrients"

It's not like your bottling it up and keeping it air tight to turn it into ammonia.

Which is why I say it should be disposed of in a safe and clean manner.

GAF truly has one of every topic.

Personally, I find it hard to believe someone literally never pees in the shower - mostly due to hot water sometimes causing a urination urge you didn't feel coming.

Of course, if you're washing yourself down with soap, you're going to be rinsing any stray urine down with the soap as well, so I don't see the problem. Just don't be a careless oaf and spray the damn shower walls.
