Norcal Regionals 2013 | Road to EVO 2013 Fighting Game Tournament | April 26-28

I am most disappointed in FChamp, mostly because I really felt that he had the best chance against ChrisG with his Dorm play. He threw away his match against KBR essentially sealing his fate. Him avoiding the Wolverine onslaught in losers would've allowed him easy access to GF. Champ with a bracket advantage over ChrisG should've been enough to put him over the top. That's essentially how Norcal played out in my head going into the tourney.

ChrisG didn't have it easy at this tournament at least. Very close calls against Apologyman and Ramnasama.

lol Marvel is going to be hilariously depressing this year at Evo unless Champ or JWong can come up with something to beat Chris. Watching Morrigan's zoning reminds me exactly why this isn't how marvel should look.

Justin needs to drop Storm. What a waste.

I'd personally like to see him pick up Magneto. I think he could do some real damage with a team centered around him. Put Doom in the back and answer missiles for missiles. Seems to be a good way of fighting against them -- have your own. Shit lets you play reckless as hell and get away with it.

Anyway, the meta has evolved waaaaaaaayyy past the point of picking characters you like. It's time to step shit up and play seriously and that starts on the character select screen.

Why can't I do anything this great in my life?

Yup, Champ has nobody to blame but himself. His arrogance cost him against KBR, and now he has to hold that L forever.

Which domination has been more impressive to you guys:

Chris G

or

Infiltration

This is actually pretty hard for me to call. I really like both players.

In the end I just like seeing dominance. I like seeing the game being played at it's best. It's like watching an athlete in their prime. You get a glimpse into the true potential the game has. For me, Infil and Chris both do this in their respective games.

So who's more impressive. Chris G or Infiltration.

Marvel is a far more random game, as evidence by his matches with Taxi; but Chris G still manages to win consistently. Chris G also got 3rd(?) in AE and won Divekick.

Infiltration consistently wins AE through winners' brackets. Street Fighter is a less random game but the time that people have put into it eclipses that of Marvel. He also won SFxT.

edit: Beaten, apparently.

It's obviously Infiltration. There are no matches for Infiltration where it's super free for him despite player skill... with ChrisG half of the matches he faces are decided at the character select screen and he goes into full auto pilot mode.

I wonder sometimes if people spent the last 8 years of MvC2 whining about Justin's dominance or begging for an update.
There wasn't really much begging for updates because it was common knowledge that the game that was given was the one that would be played until people just decided to stop for whatever reason.

As far as Justin's dominance goes, there was a fair bit of whining about it, but I think the situation was different. When Justin came up, he was pretty much just using what other people had been using for a while, only much better. Chris G found a way to dominate with something he essentially discovered* and exploited almost to its full potential. I think a lot of the complaints about Chris G dominating stem from just how stupidly powerful Morridoom is.

*I think. Someone will correct me if I'm mistaken, I'm sure.

The only way to fix this game was to break it....MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Seriously though, if Chris G makes it through Evo without losing a major, I wonder if people will have the drive to play this game much longer. 10 more years?

Did people quit MVC2 because Justin won for years straight? I think it's the way the game degenerated (not all games evolve with time, most degenerate) that may kill it off.

I'm kinda glad I never got on the Marvel train.

That said, if you're tired of Marvel, the best way to kill it is to stop playing/watching it.

Norcal should just bury their heads in the sand right now for all the shit they talk without the results to back it up.
Lol @ the suggestion that Norcal will stop being extremely biased towards themselves.

Aftershock just gave them a stimulus boost of confidence to keep them going for another half decade or so.

Chris G constantly plays (and beats) the best of the best in Marvel since the US best = the world's best, Infiltration however doesn't or not as much since aside from EVO and CC you don't get these stacked SF4 tournaments filled with international players.

The next EVO will be very interesting to say the least (unless CEO is something huge when it comes to SF4 international talent)

So basically, the comparison comes down to who could win in Divekick between SF4's best players and Marvel 3's best players.

One thing you've gotta give NorCal, though.

That said, I'm gonna watch a sub-HD stream of Game of Thrones then drown myself in the bathtub.

See you on the other side.

I think being the top SFIV player is more impressive than being the top MvC3 player in no small part because SFIV has a larger playerbase. Infiltration has proven himself against the top talent on plenty of occasions. It's the same reason why I'd say that winning EVO in 2013 is a helluva lot more impressive than winning it in 2007.

and I would agree, and Infiltration is still the best, but the last 2 US majors he has won are not as stacked (talent wise) as the Marvel one's with Chris G.

Who knows, maybe he'll body everyone at EVO free, that what makes it interesting, the huge talent level between EVO and every other major in SF4 is so much bigger than Marvel.
