Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | April 2013 | Sacrifice your Independent Soul

really excited about what he said about non-indie devs/publishers!
that guy has been doing an awesome job

Folklore 2 please.. lol

Game Republic was Japanese, and they are dead now anyways. I also would not set expectations too high until we get confirmation of stuff happening.

I do find alittle funny that Shahid always seems to be talking about signing a new game atleast once day, it kind of makes the SCEA guys look like they arent even trying, though they just might not be as public with that kind of information.

Top of the Page recommendations:

Killzone Liberation is pretty fantastic

Highly recommend Sine mora.

Buy LBPV, and MGSHD tomarrow if you dont have already great sale prices.

I vote Shahid for employee of the year. Somebody give him a raise! He is totally killing it.

Peoples' champion!

-Please, Shahid, please if it's somehow possible bring, 1- alien hominid, 2- reckless disregard for gravity, 3- dyad, and a recent one 4- Cube World
First 2 are some of the best games in the world, alien hominid is so perfectly suited to the Vita as well.

Feeling guilty, loaded up modnation...enjoying downloading new levels that don't totally lag. The drifting and weapon mechanics in this game are so damn good. Beats Sonic Racing Transformed for me. Such a shame.

I mean it even lets you make your own everything (character, kart, track)! In a karting game... too good to be true I guess.

The touchscreen seems to be healing...getting a bit better after I plugged in the charger (which is weird as I've heard that can make the touch sensing worse).

hmm I've already got MGSHD (have yet to play it)
getting SS for sure..

that would mean I have about $20 in credit left (unless I get Thomas Was Alone today)...
not sure what else to buy

I have P4G to play as well

He is definitely killing it! He's interacting alot with gamers too! so an awesome chap really!

It convinced me after I explored the combat customization and such a bit more deeply. Scratches that PSO2 itch well enough until the real thing comes here.
Lol.

Unless you just mean ANY version of PSO2 being released outside Japan. But the Vita version? Trolololololololololol, we'll never ever get it.

I dunno, I would not say its absolute we will get it, but Sega has been pretty supportive of the Vita so far. I still think it could be a possibility if Sega are happy with whatever games like Sonic Racing, and Jet Set have done for them. As far as I know the attach rate on Vita seems pretty good.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade for Vita has shipped 100k copies (including digital).

I accidentally posted it to Soul Sacrifice OT (title look so similar lol).

no idea if thats good, indifferent, or bad? I know in the US most major pubs would consider that bad, but I remember reading that when one of the tales games shifted only a few hundered thousand copies it was a big deal, so maybe Japan is different.

I know im buying it when it hits, I never got a chance to play the wii version.

Finally finished Ninja Gaiden in time to start Soul Sacrifice. Still haven't started Totori.

Not enough time in the world for my Vita.

Muramasa has been in the top 10/20 in Japan the best few weeks so I'd say it's pretty good for a port of an old Wii game.

Also, Shahid is pretty much the most loved guy in the game industry right now, next to Cerny.

Last Famitsu report says that Muramasa sold 57k at retail. Are Vita's digital sales that good?

I think it was posted in another thread that a Sony exec claimed something like 90% of their sales were coming from digital purchases, which is kind of crazy when you consider how expensive memory is, but as someone who was never much for digital purchases all of my content for Vita with the exception of LBPV has been digital. Its just great to have the convience factor of not carrying allot around, just my phone, my PV, and my Vita.

I really need Sony to release larger cards with all the stuff coming that im looking forward to playing.

Well, it never had a huge budget AND it's a port, so 100k copies in Japan alone is very encouraging. Hopefully US & Europe will at least match that. Would possibly mean more Vanillaware love for Vita.

100k figure is - shipments to date+ digital
Famitsu retail only sales till 21.04

Plus Media Create has it at 67k sold which might be closer to reality in this case.

The digital version selling 50% of the retail sales is still impressive. I hope bigger memory cards at announced at E3 (and won't cost too much).

I intend to use that list to counter 3DS-GAF and their crusade to make Atlus a Nintendo second party. They keep on referring to a similar list for 3DS as a confirmation that Persona is coming to the platform. It very well could, but those lists are usually nonsense that have no bearing on actual support.
That's silly. While Atlus has been releasing a lot DS/3DS titles, their best selling titles the last 5 years have all been on Sony platforms (including non-mainline Persona titles like P4 Arena, Catherine, and a late PS2 Devil Summoner).

And if you look at their 3DS titles, to me they all seem a step back from what Atlus was doing on the PS2 (let alone PS3/Vita) in terms of budget and graphical presentation. Moving anything more fancy than P3P onto the 3DS would likely require a significant investment in terms of engine development and asset recreation, and they've yet to show any interest in that.

When I think about it I get the feeling that the biggest share of the high profit margin on the memory cards is destined to retailers and not to Sony. Some sort of deal to compensate them for day one digital releases. This is just me speculating though...

Well hes part of Sonys third party relations team, so realistically it could be anyone. Though I think Shahid, Adam, and Nick deal with the US, where EU, and JP have their own teams.

Are we sure they have a team, and not actually a single hamster?

Is that good or bad?

It sounds pretty bad

[WII] Muaramasa - 28.807 / 48.488
[WII] Muramasa (Everybody's Recommendation) - 7774 / 50.583

I dunno, a port where all the new content is paid DLC outselling the original release in a few weeks seems pretty good to me. ;)

Muramasa doesn't have an EU release yet, does it?

I would import it but region-locked DLC. :/

I worry the same for Dragon's Crown. :(

There's going to be DLC for Muramasa (and Dragon's Crown)?

he said he just did :D

this guy needs to win the Best Employee of the Month/Year award!

He's EU, right? Fits the bill.
Now if he were an NA employee? Then he should receive an award for bucking the Grace Chen All-Stars team guidelines. :lol

I dont know really, I figured this would be the year that we might start seeing any changes that the guy from Naughty Dog was making after he went to Japan to help SCEJ.

I guess we will see soon enough, makes me wonder though as im not sure. Is there any kind of major "indie" dev scene in Japan, I dont really think I have heard of any japanese games referred to as an Indie game before.

Good for that game then :)

And now we know sahid reads this thread...

Why you no post bro?

Outside of Morgan Haro I don't believe anyone from SCE officially posts on GAF (though I'm sure there's people who don't reveal themselves). It's probably for the best.

I'm sure we have someone from SCEE, though I can't place his GAF ID at the moment.

I just finished Catherine on PS3. Catherine 2 on Vita would be godly. Such a great puzzle game, much more suitable to handheld gaming than home consoles if you ask me.

I'm still patiently waiting for FF type-O for Vita, dunno when that (ever) going to happen. I hope Sony 3rd party relation teams do something about it, if Nintendo can bring BDFF to the western, then hopefully Sony can too for Type-O.

Couple of interesting tweets from Shahid

Its been pretty clear hes been killing it with Indies at this point, but its interesting to see hes going after some larger fish, I wonder who hes talking too.

Man Shahid is awesome!! I would really like to buy that guy a beer and tell him thank you. I wish all Sony personnel were this diligent.

Japan has a huge indie PC gaming scene, but they really keep it to themselves because most indie devs tend to release games exclusively on physical media at doujin events. That's why you never heard about them, they don't submit them to Steam or whatever for the whole world to see and obtain.

The Touhou series alone is a pretty big deal in Japan. Also, indie fighting games such as Melty Blood have a very loyal fanbase.
