Probably already mentioned but Neat! You can splice two video segments into one gif. The thumbs up/down part is from a different part of the video. Took me a while to get that down to a reasonable file size and get rid of the annoying choppy effect.

I don't mind the 12mb gifs until people quote them. If you do quote it you should probably remove the img tags, but no one seems to care.

The power to auto convert img tags to url tags is awesome.

Guess I'm old fashioned cos I try to stick to a 3MB limit when I make gifs.

This is something I plan on adhering to. I've got no problem resizing my gifs if it's for the greater good.

what free program can i use to slim it down?

It's cool and all, and I'll probably use it a lot, but the saving/edit features have room for improvement. Would be great if I could change the size of the saved gif.

Also, recorded a gif of some in-engine Unity stuff and it saved it with a lot of weird artifacts -- black stuff turning green, fast moving objects not being rendered correctly, etc..

jasc animation studio, open up the gif, and reduce the amount of frames while adjusting the playback speed. You can search for the thread, by alrighstart I believe.

You can reduce frames in GifCam by opening Edit, right click, click Delete Even Frames.
