Shin Megami Tensei IV (3DS) coming to NA retail/eShop Summer 2013 (July 16)

Four page developer interview in Famitsu.
SMT4 was always planned to be a portable title (is so much that they started working on it after SJ was finished)
Kaneko came up with the Samurai idea. His intention was to create a vision of modern day society that's never been seen before, and to do that he wanted to use characters who would not have the same values as modern day Japanese folks.

Wait. Wait.

So Kazuma Kaneko is actually involved in this game for real?

Like, I was kind of hoping he was working on another passion project. Or freelancing something amazing during that period we all thought he left Atlus. Is mild scenario contributions all he's been doing for the last three years?

Obviously he's working on Raidou 3. Believe.

Interesting that SMT IV was "always" planned to be a portable title. And nice to hear something from Kaneko.

That's interesting. The modern day segments are what I'm most looking forward to. I wonder how much of the game they'll make up.

Nintendo better announce the fuck out of an account system this E3 if they want me to spend $50 on a game through eShop

only way I can get it :(

Where do you live? In any case you can buy it from CD Universe or Play Asia (I recently got Soul Hackers via CD Universe because it's probably never making it to Mexican stores).

Uruguay

kinda bad policies on that stuff. If they figure out it's a videogame at the border they'll probably stop it and charge me a fee to get it, not worth it

might go eShop either way but man, at that price is where I start getting worried with it being linked to the system. $35 animal crossing is kind of a sweet spot

they already said $50 on eShop as well right?

"From the team who brought you Persona, Trauma Center, and Nocturne"

This cracked me up. I mean, Trauma Center clearly doesn't belong. Why didn't they put something like Etrian Odyssey or Devil Summoner?

Because I believe this actually IS primarily from the Trauma Team staff, character designer certainly is. As crazy as it sounds it makes complete sense.

It belongs just fine, because it's true. Including EO wouldn't make any sense, because it would be a lie.

Because the people that are developing it also made Trauma Center. Notable example: The lead artist.

EDIT: Beaten twice, even.

Ehh, not a fan of the voice-over in the trailer at all. I'll probably end up turning the voices off, to be honest. I prefer my Megaten games silent.

Probably just a guy they got for the trailer. I really doubt they are going to have an announcer or character doing an "announcer" voice in this game

All the Atlus games have made it recently. They usually take a bit longer than most, though.

:(

Can't watch the vid. My hosts protection is blocking it for some reason.

Hopefully, it'll be on the Youtubes soon.

EDIT: IGN has it up now. Short...

This would be a pretty great time to find some way to localize SMT I & II.

Just saying.

Or simply remake them. I'm not sure it would be worth their while to localize the originals. SH is one thing, but it holds up fairly well. Those two, though?

Of course, as eShop VC...now that I could see doing all right for them.

Awww yiss.

let's hope noe can make it in 6 months for smt 4 in europe...it can't be that hard to do considering us release date....heck a summer pal release would be really welcomed

The PS1 versions hold up very well and the UI is better than Soul Hacker's.
A simple port with some additions and I will be happy.
