Isn't that exactly like the Green Goblin from Spiderman? Spidey killed the Goblin's dad too and then Goblin get's mad. I'm not entirely sure as I'm not familiar with the Spiderman comics and I haven't seen the movies in a long time.

Yeah. That's pretty much what will happen in this show anyway, just with a bunch of shitty relationship drama thrown in on top.

If Ollie ever goes through some comics code "killing bad guys is bad" bullshit, I'm stopping watching this show.

I think it's inevitable, unfortunately.

It would be better here because he would have (hopefully)actually done the killing unlike Green Goblin killing himself.

But then toward the end of the season, as Felicity and others keep telling Ollie's he's got to stop murdering people, Ollie has a change of heart. He wants to become a hero instead of just an insane murdermachine vigilante. He stops killing.

Lost me there bro, terrible, simply terrible idea.

I doubt he's going to stop killing altogether. He's sort of the Wolverine of the JLA- the guy who's willing to pull the trigger when necessary. That said, he probably will cut WAY back, especially in regards to henchmen. He'll probably still kill many of his main targets, but the hired muscle will get stun arrows.

lol..stun arrows :) If he doesn't need to kill them he can just target their legs or shoulders. No need to do something as ridiculous as stun arrows.

May I suggest an alternative, Tommy ends up coming back around and helping Ollie and that ends up getting him killed by his dad on accident or some shit. Causing Malcolm to go even more batshit insane.

Is anyone else growing tired with lazy writing/development of scenes? It's difficult to explain what I mean, but basically, they all make incredibly unrealistic choices. The stupid wall flip is a great example. Also, the scene on the island when they're making eyes at one another...if I'm on an island being hunted, sex is the last thing on my mind.

I really think the show has potential but is suffering from really bad writing. I also hate the entirety of the you get actors. Ollie's Mom, Diggle and Barrowman are saving graces for this show.

Sorry for the rant, I just feel like I've invested so much time in the show and the day 1 problems are still there.

.
You do realize that almost a year has passed on the island since Ep1? You're acting like it's all been done in few days.

i gotta say... i got sucked into starting this series because "crixus" is gonna make an appearance at some point

finished ep 1, wow didnt know moira was the one who arranged the kidnapping of her son *mindblown

How would that work anyway? Blunt arrows that only hit you and release an electric shock or something. No thanks.

Short prongs that embed in flesh, but not deep enough to do major damage, stopped by a blunted chamber that activates on impact, releasing a taser charge. Not completely non-lethal, depending on where it hits.

There are also blunt arrows, usually used to hunt small game without damaging the pelt. With the force of the bow, these should still hit like a crowbar.

Another option is a flashbang arrow that allows Oliver to close the distance and take down his targets with melee attacks.

Or, he could purposefully graze his targets or hit in less lethal areas with arrows laced in some form of tranquilizer.

He's already used snare arrows in the Royal Flush Gang episode.

The way TV and Movie explosives work, he could "miss" with an exploding Arrow and take them down with a shockwave.

Gas Arrows are another option.

Lots of options for non-lethal arrow attacks.

The human body very easily confuses fear-based arousal and sexual arousal. Its why horror movies are popular dates.

I don't doubt that Ollie will eventually pay lip service to the idea of avoiding needless killing.

But he'll still kill no less than an average of 5 goons per episode. And, with the prospect of the season finale to season 2 premiere changeover, I expect the rate of goon killing to surge in the near-term.

Please stop with the non lethal talk. That way madness lies. And by madness I mean trick arrows.

Seriously. This show is refreshing, because it's the first time in a long time we see a hero who isn't afraid to kill "bad" guys in the name of justice. I can't see Ollie going that route without avoiding some cliche or contrived storyline. He was trapped on a goddamn island for 5 years and had to kill to survive. That was his "crucible." That defines the Green Arrow of this show.

How do you reverse what's been so embedded in your nature? A stern conversation with Laurel, Diggle, or Felicity? Awful idea.

Tommy is quite the man in this case as well. He understands the chemistry between Ollie and Laurel, ESPECIALLY when you consider the near-affection Arrow got from her simply by protecting her. It does only take a little empathy to put 2+2 together and realize that their relationship is not on solid ground.

If not wanting to live in constant fear of losing her for the next few years while praying that Laurel never finds Olivers secret out is being a "vagina", then so be it.

Agreed. I don't see anything wrong with Tommy's actions. He knows Laurel loves the Green Arrow (Ollie) and he knows he can't compete (for now at least). Why start a serious relationship for the first time only to get burned down the road? So he instinctively pulls back.

booooooooooooo the henchmen deserve to get that work too just like their bosses.

Ted Kord exists in the Arrow Universe. Since they mentioned a non-superpowered JL member was going to show up in the series, perhaps we'll see Ted Kord/Blue Beetle make an appearance?

With how awesome the last episode was I can't stop but think of the impending wait between seasons :( I'm gonna go crazy without my weekly Felicity....CRAZY!!!

WOW,
looks like a ton of shit is going down and it's not even the finale?? Looks like EVERYONE might find out Ollie's secret next episode rofl.

Simmilar thing happened with CW's ending of Nikita S1, second to last episode was incredible. I still think that Nikita had the stronger first season than Arrow.

Such a great episode (21). I'm probably in the minority here, but I really enjoy how well Amell pulls off the douche version of himself in flashbacks. He's done an incredible job of making you hate that character (in a good way). I don't think I'm going to watch the preview for the next show though.. want to go in fresh.

Amell is actually pretty great as Ollie, IMO. He plays all the facets really well.

Is it just me, or was Laurel like a completely different person in the flashback?

I like how we got to see why Malcolm wants to destroy the Glades. Can't wait for the next episode.

They high five in between arrowing random henchmen.

Fixed it for you.

Tommy is not cool with this. He's been buying more and more into the idea of killin' scum, just like his dad, especially after thinking more about what happened to his mom (she was murdered, right?). He gets sadistic and weird and he starts pushing all his friends away, including Laurel. Then the finale hits, Ollie ends up killing Merlyn Sr. Tommy finds out who his dad was, what he was really all about, what he wanted to do to the glades. He snaps mentally and leaves to train to take his dad's place, hating the shit out Ollie.

Bam. No shitty relationship drama and Tommy's not an uninteresting limp penis of a character.

.... holy ffffffffudgeballs.

I have the largest Writer Boner right now.

I think this is going to happen. The preview has Tommy
working with the cops
and I have a feeling that will have something to do with good daddy Barrowman.

At the same time I also think Detective chesthair is going to bite the big one too. But this is mainly because they've had trouble finding a place for him. And that sucks because I've loved the dude since the Dresden Files.

I think they'll save that for season 2. Or whenever they finally decide to do something with Laurel.

Detective Chesthair should just straight up become an douchier snarling version of Jim Gordon.

They did that for like one episode and it was fun. And then Laurel took the phone and ruined it.

God damn it, Laurel.

Laurel ruins everything.

Stop ruining things, Laurel.

I have yet to try and figure out one thing you didn't ruin.

Are you even a competent lawyer? I don't think I've seen you win a court case. Or even go to court.
