Skullgirls DLC Character vote | The Campaign united us, The Voting will destroy us

  1. Molly
  2. Roxie
  3. Minette
  4. Adam
  5. Stanley
  6. Issac
  7. Feng
  8. Yu Wan
  9. Regina
  10. Ileum

Sticking with Molly and Roxie as long as I can! I really would have liked the gameplay demos for more characters to have appeared, before doing these votes again. So many just feel like they STILL have no chance, and their inclusion is just a formality.

Adam and Stanley sound kinda alike when you break them down... both multi-wep users. Adam won the edge for me, just because his 3-man-battle-plan strat sounds a bit more unique in the gameplay aspect.

Feng supporters, you got her onto my list!

Watching One Piece lately, makes it obvious how great properly-utilized Fishmen and women could be in a fighter. We have 3 of them in these votes, and I really would like to see 1 of them win!

Here's a reminder who to vote for:

It's obviously not a "rank down", but it is a show of "least amount of support", which is just as bad from a popularity standpoint.

But it's ultimately irrelevant when only first rank votes count; and I'm sure LabZero will choose future characters by themselves rather than pander to fanbase popularity.

Who doesn't?

Yeah it's weird. I was totally sold on Isaac and Aeon, but now, Feng is really taking the spotlight. Aeon isn't even top ten anymore (sorry Nyoro T.T MikeZ just didn't seem too into her as a playable character) and Feng took her place.

Besides the gameplay mechanics, she's also a "token Chinese girl" in a qipao (my mains are Chun Li and Pai in SF/MVC3 and VF respectively), what's not to love?

It's all good. I ranked Feng in my top 4.

Looking at these lists I'm surprised not many gaffers don't care enough to meta vote characters into the bottom most rankings. What kind of gamers are you? :p

Eh, I really don't think so. People have all been voting for the same "top choices" so all those second and third rank votes aren't getting any support; ultimately the result will be same.

The results will be a lot more different than you are expecting. Let's ignore who will be in the top 20 because whoever made top 16 last round will be there as well. That's highly likely.

I bet once we do the next round of voting the top 10 won't include all of the same characters who made top 8. I'll be surprised if atleast 2 characters aren't knocked off because of the ranking system.

Haha god damn at that Jam vs Dizzy fight.

Interestingly watching the K.O. Makoto vid I found this gem. I remember watching this vid years ago. I either forgotten that it was Mike Z who made it or just never realized it.

Who doesn't?

As much as I like most of those things, I don't get the idea I'd like them as much with Feng. Any desire I have for her is more because her chinese-ish heritage and martial-arts-inspired combat should be a stark contrast to the other personalities and abilities in the game.

Speedy, quick mixup is something I feel this game already has a solid amount of already. It continues to make me feel like she's one of the characters who'd only offer a different wrinkle to gameplay styles we already have, rather than standing out on her own as something truly fresh and different.

I do have to wonder how she'd be as an assist, though; her main gimmick seems to really effect only her. I guess you could use her gimmick to make her assist attacks seek certain parts of the screen, or something...

Oooh damn

I wonder if this works in SFIV. Shorts like these for each character in tutorial mode would be godlike.

The game needs more wall sticks, rushing punches, stagewide dragon kicks and Psylocke shenanigans in general. You can never have too much rushdown/mixups if it's done right, I think. It's all good so long as one character doesn't become the best at what they do.

RYUUJIN!

WOOOOOO!

HYAKKU SHINSHOOO

Hoping any one of my top three win, but I think Annie has the strongest shot so she'll be sitting at #1 the entire way through, provided she doesn't get canned early. #teamannie

Feng a broke ass Eliza confirmed

Hey man, don't try and pin me as the guy who'll pick the sleeper winner again! I don't believe she has the pull to make top 1 honestly...

*remembers comments on Eliza last vote*

...oh fuck, does this mean that in actuality I do believe it somewhere in my head and now it's going to happen?

A few already did. I ranked them all but it was more because I felt I had to rank everyone.

Ofcourse a few did I acknowledged that. It's just most of the comments are "Here are my top X. I didn't care how I ranked everyone else."

I thought it would be the other way around with most people meta-voting.

News flash there are FOUR fish people.

Ottomo is a fishman.

He's a very small dagonian wearing power armor.

Sort of like this guy.

Yeah, it's a nasty side effect of the voting, ha. I'd love to hear of a character like Feng, by herself. I'd probably be really hype to see how everything she has works out... but you put 29 others aganist her, with so much diversity, and you're forced to start making some hard choices.

And man, I love watching Makoto work the ground in those vids you linked, haha. Crushing jumps to the ground, landing that blazing fast command grab + satisfying normal throws, and even finding use out of command normal moves that, for many characters, would just be nearly forgotten moves in a moveset.

Jam also gives me that "overwhelming force, when used right" style feeling, which is great. That first-round DESTROY proved that beautifully, ha. I think I've always liked Jam as a character, more than I like GG itself. Not that I even play her much... but she's such an interesting design.

Ultimately, though I think Roxie or Scythana would give me more of that "overwhelming force" feeling than Feng, though it'd be cool to be proven wrong, if she were to win.

But Ottomo himself is pretty much the robot! The little guy on the inside (Tom) barely even counts! XD

But it's a point well taken. Ottomo might be one of the most unique designs in that reguard; 2 totally unlike-anything-else creatures, combined into 1 character choice.

Fishmen are dicks!

KfKhdBj.png

Haha, I did! She was just number 7!

Fishmen are a wide, diverse range of people, some good, some bad! They'd also allow some crazy color palette ideas and mixes, with so many modifiable parts, and the natural effect of not being the normal peach / brown set or skincolors. Though I'd not be opposed to a Hsien-Ko colored Feng...

How so? I'm honestly curious because I don't remember the fishmen characters doing anything particularly special that would apply to a fighter. Unless your talking about having an underwater stage. That would be interesting...

A robot isn't Artificial Intelligence. Was there ever any indication the suit is self aware?

I think this relationship is more along the lines of a Gundam than a Megadues, but I could be wrong.

These eps in the 500s are all about fighting on the Fisherman's island. They also bring the memory of Arlong back into the limelight. And of course, they keep going on and on about their superiority in the water, their ability to weaponize water, their different outlooks on unique individuals (due to them all looking vastly different, even within the same direct families), how their fins and teeth give them natural weapons, and so on.

Some of it is probably deeper than this game itself would probably like to mess with, but it's just helped show how different a structure a character with non-human backgrounds can be, in their thoughts, mannerisms, sizes, and builds.

That's... fine, but noone is voting for Ottomo because they want to play Tom!

His description does mention that Ottomo comes off as a gentleman, and has his own percieved mannerisms, but getting to know Tom shows him in a different light. Otto's the one who'se on display, and the place where all his actions, attacks, and traits will generally be drawn from. Tom is just kinda a nice bonus, to toss in some color commentary and make him a bit more unique.

Kinda like the Krang; I never viewed Shredder the same, after we found out he and Krang were basically merged into the same character. It kinda made me care about both of them less, in their case, though for Ottomo, it actually makes him more interesting...

*sniffs*

I was.

:'{

Well it wasn't the only reason :p

The fact he would have have a bunch of ranged attacks in a game that is in your face heavy has greatly influenced my ranking of this character.

To be perfectly honest the only thing I hate about Minette is that she is a fish. If it wasn't for that she would've easily replaced Umbrella as my 4th choice (and probably the first one to make it to second round).

I'm ok with Stanley and Yu Wan though, probably because they're less anthropomorphized.

Make Beowulf #2 and leave Marie, Umbrella and Annie dead last

Fixed ;)

That Issac is pretty cool; I wish we got to learn more of his moves, and not just his 1 mechanic. Siegerrrr....

Females of the races always get more human features; I think she has a lot of Fish, though (Scales, "hair" that isn't even hair, etc), and I like how it works back even into her fashion choices. She's not as human as she could be, and I'd hope this shows through even more in her attacks, actually.

It seems more Megadues, as they keep talking about the two separately, and the main sell seems to be the robot rather than the fishman behind it. Molly seems to be the opposite, she's front and center.

Deciding go vote, Giving some of my votes away.

Who do ya want me to vote for

Isaac gets top spot

You need some Brain Drain!

So my picks definitely changed this time, especially because of how the voting's being done.

Feng
Isaac
B. Dahlia
Beatrix
Marie
Stanley
Beowulf
Minette
Aeon
Panzerfaust

These were my top 10, although my I should've lowered Minette a bit. I was interested in her before, but now I dunno.
