Sony E3 press conference; June 10th 6PM PT/9PM ET

Microsoft is competing for air time with Apple.
Compared to that, Sony is lucky as shit.
 
I'm off the entire week of E3. I'll be in my new place and the missus will be away. Nothing but vidya, GAF, bros and E3 hype. Holy shit.

I was talking about the gaming journalists and the press in general. By the time Sony's conference starts they would have seen so many next gen games...

I don't see it that way. Sony got in first and have enjoyed several months with the focus on them, and at E3 they'll also have the final word. "You thought those previous shows were good? Watch this."

I know someone who works at Sony Supply Chain Solutions. This person doesn't have any sort of high rank within this company, so this is information that has been shared with every employee over there. Apparently, the PlayStation 4 is going to use purple as its main colour. Probably much like how the PlayStation 3 used blue. In addition to this, they are already planning the distribution of the PlayStation 4 in some form. However, it has been said that the console will most likely be released in 2014.

I'm not so sure about the purple colour, because there was a pretty strong emphasis on the colour blue during the PlayStation 4 reveal. I can see the PlayStation 4 having a later release in Europe than in America and will release early 2014. Even Sony sounded uncertain about the European launch. This seems to confirm that uncertainty in some form.

Next, I got a tour of Bayer a couple of weeks ago. For those that don't know, Bayer is a German chemical and pharmaceutical company. One of the people that handle the distribution and sales of polycarbonate mentioned that they have a partnership with Sony. Apparently, they use polycarbonate to create the data layer of Blu-Ray discs. When I asked whether the PlayStation 4 will support dual layered Blu-Ray discs, he said that the technology won't be ready before the console's launch. The technology probably isn't sophisticated or profitable enough for mass production. That means that the PlayStation 4 will not support dual layered Blu-ray discs.

The man I spoke to was one of the higher-ups, so I guess he knows what he is talking about. I personally don't know if a different kind of Blu-Ray laser is required to read dual layer discs. He might have meant that the PlayStation 4 won't support them initially, if that is the case.

I cant either. Every event, I get myself hyped for The Last Guardian but, after the recent string of rumors, I really think my wish is going to come true this time and itll be shown as a PS4 title.

Why do I set myself up like this...

It kind of assured me that FF versus was going to be shown at E3 but left me angry that they had nothing else to say or show. The fact Sony let SE come on stage and waste 15 mins showing the demo and the announcement of an announcement tells me they hold the FF title with great importance. Its going to be great.
 
If we need to use excuses like ''people got tired of next gen in one day'' I don't think Sonys presser was good to begin with.

Good presser is always noted regardless if it is the first, mid or last. Besides Sony already had the first shot at next gen, doesn't make people any less excited for MS reveal 3 months later for those who were gonna be excited about it in the first place.

In fact I believe having the last conference is both a blessing and a curse. It sticks with you the most. MS was terrible last year but Nintendo having the last presser only magnified the dissapointment of their failed next gen launch. In 2010 they ended the pressers with a bang.

People being ''tired'' sounds ridicilous for an outside observer. Maybe for the press perhaps?

All fair points. All I know is that for me, I'm glad they're going last, as it's handily the one I care about most.

Hopefully Sony's apparent confidence is honest and warranted. If they can deliver the best show, it'll be all that more impressive compared to the rest. That'd be the perfect ending to the day.

Yeah, SCEA specifically wanted them to be there, so... of course they consider it important. And it definitely is for the Japanese market.

It would have been a perfect time to show the initial Luminous/Agni's reveal. That would have gotten people excited and hyped for both companies future announcements.

As it was, it seemed very tame and a waste of time.

Honestly, SE shouldn't have revealed it so soon last year.
 
Its different waiting for this, because all those other E3's and TGS's for the last couple of years there was a faint hope (a fool's hope maybe) that they would show Versus/FF15, but now we know they will show it, and for new next gen hardware. The first next gen Final Fantasy is always more special than all the others, FF7, FF10 etc.
 
I'll laugh so hard if the game looks like ass.

I honestly think the old 2011 gameplay trailer didn't look too hot either when it came to gameplay. Graphics and CGI were good tho.

I have totally lost the track if it is supposed to be turn based or ARPG or what at this point but hopefully whatever it is the gameplay looks great this time too.

rofl when was the last time Square released a game that looked like ass? Yaaa....graphics should be the least of your worries.

I meant more about the gameplay. It looked pretty clumsy in the 2011 trailer like, I dunno, they had no idea what they wanted to do with the battle system and stuff.

Even if it turns out bad (which I HIGHLY doubt) I will still buy it simply because it's at legendary status now and I'm not waiting 7 years for nothing haha.

P.S. Persona 5 news soon? After SMTIV is released I think. :)

i can only think of the one on vXIII --> XV --> PS4



i gotta say i'll be disappointed if versus really do become xv
rather get 2 new FFs instead of 1
