Skullgirls DLC Character vote | The Campaign united us, The Voting will destroy us

Wow, my brother top 4 has survive! He is really happy ^^ Go Taliesin and Betarix!!!
EqBHkJ4.png

He has swapped Taliesin and Beatrix positions because while he likes Taliesin more, he seems to have more support that Beatrix. And if she fails, her vote will go to Taliesin, so all will be fine.

He dropped Panzerfaust and B. Dahlia too, and thanks to the Alex's concept art, Umbrella and Marie go up.

I wish they put "high end figure" in the vote. Statues don't do it for me, and trading figures are the worst.

I assumed they meant basic 1/8~ish ones with statues. At least, I've heard basic ones referred to as statues before.

I voted for Statue, Trading and Art Book, so hopefully one of them will come to fruition.

Well, this is how I voted this round. Other than Leduc my top 10 are the same, only switched some characters around.

Sometimes figures are called statues if they have really limited movement, but I'm pretty sure that's not what's meant. I think this is what they have in mind.

Rather than this, which is what I would have preferred.

I picked comic and animation added "high end figure" to the bottom.

Oh, I get what you mean, now. You want Figma/Revoltech/etc. like ones, rather than the kind of stuff Max Factory and Alter put out.
I'd be fine with either, but I can see the appeal in articulation, especially with fighting characters.

Votes are largely unchanged since last round.

1. B. Dahlia
2. Annie
3. Beatrix
4. Brain Drain
5. Aeon
6. Marie
7. Ileum
8. Umbrella

Everyone past this point I'm not that interested in. Hive, Samson and maybe Leduc are the only causalities I'll miss from the previous round.

Here's my vote.

mzkvote2.jpg

Taliesin and Venus concepts made me put them higher than before but still behind Stanley. Mauricio will probably like my bottom vote too. :RadvidrathStyle:

1 Scythana
2 Roxie
3 Beowulf
4 Panzerfaust
5 Black Dahlia
6 Marie
7 Umbrella
8 Annie
9 Isaac
10 Aeon
11 Venus
12 Feng
15 Ileum
14 Brain Drain
13 D. Violet
18 Stanley
19 Taliesin
20 Minette
16 Molly
17 Beatrix

It's pretty much the same logic as last time, only this time I bothered to try and rank everyone, with some second-guessing the further I got down the list: faves on top, then story folk, then some that could be interesting to play or add to the story, then the deity sisters because I'd rather have Mike plan them as regular characters, and then boss them up (I don't like Aeon's design, but I prefer her cameo summoning potential over Venus' shennanigans), from then on it was mostly aesthetics considerations and pushing down playstyles I consider unwieldy for me.

The numbers are what I got in the character sorter, the order is how I voted - I decided Ileum was less embarrassing than D. Violet, that Molly was too inclined toward assists when i usually play a solo team, that despite considering Beatrix a cut-off point between characters I was almost indifferent too and possible contenders I might want to push down, that I really don't like her, so it wasn't worth gaming her position like that.

As for the merchandise stuff, I went for the visual stuff like comics - narratives and artwork can get interesting, and are less of a bother to store than figures.
for the stuff to add to the game, Canon Story was a lock, and also expanded tutorials. The rest I was sort of "meh" on - I would have prefered if the "world tour/RPG mode" had been better explained, even if it was what I ultimately voted on - it's a cconcept from a home version of SFA3 not that many people are familiar with, and the "world" factor makes more sense in SF, where you go from continent to continent, than SG where you barely leave a city or 2.
Survival mode isn't that appealing, and with all the FGC's criticism of the problems with playing the computer instead of human opponents, I'm kind of surprised it's even there - it's easy to implement, but doesn't even have the charm of something plot-driven.
From memory, other proposed modes either involved messing around too much with the established gameplay or were likely to cover such fringe cases they might not be as enjoyable or help train skills for the core game.

I hope we get more Roxie artwork and gameplay demonstrations soon...

Picked collectible figures, 'cause I'm imagining something like the adorable mini Castle Crashers figures the Behemoth had in their Chonku Chonku machines at PAX.

This thread needs more Molly love. :(

Eliminated:
Ms. Victoria
Leduc
Adam
Hubrecht *11
Andy
Hive
Ottomo
Samson *12
Yu-Wan
Regina

Wow my top 12 got decimated :'(

Was easier that time to start from the bottom than to start from the top :/. I'll add my new list for reference on the next poll *sigh*

1 Stanley
2 Panzerfaust
3 Black Dahlia
4 Scythana
5 Beowulf
6 Annie
7 Roxie
8 Brain Drain
9 Minette
10 Molly
11 Feng
12 Taliesin
13 Isaac
14 Marie
15 Beatrix
16 Umbrella
17 Venus
18 Ileum
19 Aeon
20 D. Violet

Hubrechet, Otomo, and Adam out? What's wrong with Skullgirls fans?

My current 20:

1 Beowulf
2 Ileum
3 Stanley
4 Venus
5 Scythana
6 Taliesin
7 Beatrix
8 Isaac
9 Panzerfaust
10 Feng
11 Roxie
12 Molly
13 Black Dahlia
14 Brain Drain
15 D. Violet
16 Aeon
17 Umbrella
18 Marie
19 Annie
20 Minette

A lot of people voted based on aesthetics and not mechanics. Aesthetically, Adam has nothing. He was made intentionally bland, therefore people in general assumed that he was bland.

That's disingenuous. We had a poll about this and storyline got the short shrift when it came to primary consideration.

Both aesthetics and mechanics were practically equal with each being a concern for around 40% of voters.

[edit] Wow I can't finish voting yet because I have a hard time picking the new features ideas and I probably should think hard on a write in suggestion.

World Tour/RPG kinda flummoxes mes because RPG varies from type and has so many individual components that I wanted to know a little more about what RPG aspects they were interested in doing.

Then I have a question for replay recording/sharing. I wonder if they would consider built in editing tools.

Boss Marie vs the World sounds exciting. [/edit]

A few casualties for me, but nothing major. I hope folks vote for a canonical storyline, it'd be nice to have a canon story that they can build on in future titles.

1. Annie
2. Minette
3. Marie
4. Feng
5. Molly
6. Beatrix
7. B. Daliah
8. Roxie
9. D. Violet
10. Scythana
11. Venus
12. Aeon
13. Ileum
14. Umbrella
15. Beowulf
16. Isaac
17. Brain Drain
18. Taliesin
19. Panzerfaust
20. Stanley

I find the futile attempts at knocking her out hilarious.

Her villification when she's such an adorable looking character really amplifies the humor for me.

Anyway, my top 5 included: Venus, Minnette, B. Dahlia, D. Violet, and Isaac. I don't remember the rest. I'm pretty sure I put Marie at 20.

Everyone should pick OVA! >:(

Canon story, mini-games, and world tour were my choices.

1. Annie
2. Aeon
3. Venus
4. Isaac
5. B. Dahlia

last. Minette

Alex just confirmed he's got some Annie concepts floating around he'll clean up and release when he has time.

Get hype!

Hype hype hype hype hype hype hype...

For the in game stuff:

Canon Story
More Tutorials
Replays (Sharing and Recording)

For the merchandise:

OVA (All you fuckers better pick this one somehow, Skullgirls fights with dat sakuga? Hell yes.)
Art Book
and I had a hard time picking a third. I chose Plushes though.

Finally:

And before anyone says anything about meta voting, I don't do that. That's just how I'd place them in order of personal desire. I have nothing against them.

Edit: Thank GOD I saw this image before I submitted my vote, I almost screwed Molly out of a 10th place vote.

Peter, assuming no delays, you think the winner will be revealed Thursday early am or at Salty Cupcakes?

----------------

I find the delusions that someone other than Molly will win hilarious.

No, actually, I'm crying. :(

------------------

I picked collectible figures, OVA...and something. I hope it was plushies.
Tutorials, Canon Story, and Replays (please Replays!)

My top 10 remained mostly intact, just losing Hubrecht and Ottomo.

1. Roxie
2. Beowulf
3. Isaac
4. Panzerfaust
5. Molly
6. Scythana
7. B. Dahlia
8. Annie
9. Ileum
10. Umbrella

Also voted for OVAs, Artbooks and comics. More tutorials/replays/canon story I think. Mighta been world tour, had tough time deciding world tour versus canon story.

Ah, as I expected, most of the characters I actually wanted (Hubrecht, Samson, Yu-Wan, Adam) were removed. Ah well, I expected it.

Feng
Umbrella
Beowulf
Stanley
Illeum
Issac
Panzerfaust
Aeon
Roxie
Brain Drain
Marie
Annie
Taliesin
Beatrix
B. Dhalia
Scythana
Molly
Venus
Minette
D. Violet

Past Roxie, I either have no interest or dislike certain characters.

D. Violet especially, she's absolutely terrible and an eyesore.

I picked Canonical Story, World Tour and Replays for the game, and comics and plushies for the other stuff - can't remember the third thing I picked for that category, but I trust my scatterbrained judgement enough to know that it was a sensible choice.

I'm never sharing my character votes again, though - I'm taking those to the grave.

Except for Molly - I put her at #5 for Beckx's sake

I would like it if as many people as possible write in:

Another game genre for skullgirls merchandise.

I would love to see SG universe expanded into either an open world action/adventure game, or a platforming beat em up with the ability to move in the back ground and foreground as well as hop up or down into other platforms.

Heck even a party rhythm game with more laid back jazz, down tempo, grunge and similar music would be awesome.

I'm surprised by the plush love. I consider them the lowest form of collectables.

Thing is, Alex already has other games in mind of different genres so if they work on something else I doubt they'll go back to the SG universe.

I think some people from the dev team have already expressed intrest in making a beat'em'up at some point, although they never went into any specifics. I can't remember if it would have been an SkullGirls game or a new IP like NEO0MJ suggested, though. But making suggestions like that for other genres probably wouldn't hurt.

Just from a casual perspective, and given the vibe across the internet, I don't think anyone who didn't give a crap about this game before (from a characters perspective) would have their mind changed by Minette whereas a bunch of other characters have at least a chance at drawing in new blood. It doesn't help that she would likely play like characters I don't enjoy playing as (Frank West in UMvC3) and takes inspirations from characters I feel are super annoying (Osaka from Azumanga Diaoh or that book girl from Aquapazza). Seems like a lose-lose-lose situation from my perspective.

Well whatever game they do I hope aesthetically it is as groundbreaking and stylistic as skullgirls.

It kind of sucks when too many FPS games follow the modern warfare/WWII model or so many RPGs follow sword, sorcery and dragons. The creativity and non-conformity in aesthetic design is seriously lacking compared to the 80s and 90s of gaming.

I don't pick characters based on drawing in new people without taste. I pick characters I'd like to use.

Boys are weird.

Depends on how much time it takes to make the victory art.

Those people may very well disappear when they get their asses handed to them on a silver platter. I want to be proven wrong.
So we all voted for canon story mode, right?
See:
Tutorials, Replays, and World Tour mode.
Stuff that makes it easier to share content and learn the game is more important. We'll have five new "what if" scenarios as is for now which is pretty cool.
