Oh, I definitely think FFXIV is going to be released on the PS4. Square has already said that it'll probably happen. But it'd be really bad section of Sony's conference if that's all Square shows up to announce. And it'd result in even more negative press for Square for hyping a port.

I'm probably 90% certain that won't be the only thing. They'll probably lead with it though.

thats just a rebranded Apple TV


so people are starting to say that PS4 is getting 500gb and say that 500 gb is big.

please someone give me some hope and say that PS4 will come with a 1tb drive since they claimed it would come with a very large hard drive.



500 gb is small and Sony should be ashamed if they launch with 500 gb after lying at the PS4 meeting.

it should be 740 gb. it seems like 60 and 250 gb are doubling every 2 years for the same production costs.
the current top model ps3 has 500 gb, the previous model had 320 gb, 250 gb, 160 gb, ....
to be honest, i could'nt care less if only we get a sata2 plug

I don't know. Bear in mind that FF13 took up just under 40GB on a dual layer disk but 32GB of that was video files. While it might be nice to be able to copy EVERYTHING to the HDD, video files aren't really needed, they can play from the BluRay just fine.

Obviously that goes out with window for digital releases.

It'll also depend on whether we can use our own drives to expand it or if we need proprietary ones. If they let us use our own 500GB is fine for the majority of people I would say. Anyone who wants more can drop a larger drive in.

As I've said before, I'd prefer a model with no HDD that requires you to buy one (not going to happen) as I plan on putting an SSD in it anyway.

Yeah, when they said please be excited for E3 I doubt they were talking about FFXIV, but it would be great to see FFXIV on PS4, as the PC version is quite beautiful.

Sure would be big news to announce FFXIV and FFXV/Versus coming to PS4

Also FFXIV could be a launch title

If they are planning to announce Versus on PS4 as rumors suggest and they'll still lead with FFXIV then they really don't understand what their fanbase wants.

Then your expectations are unreasonable: With the 2,5" format, there are currently no drives bigger than 1TB available with standard 9,5 mm build height. Even keeping to the more widely available 1TB models, it is unlikely they will offer it for a base console as these drives tend to be too expensive at the moment for a low-end SKU.

500 GB is plenty, there may be bigger models available but we certainly won't see 1TB (the current maximum) as a standard. No one was "lying", you just decided to filter the message through a distorted lens.

If the HDD turns out to be user-replaceable, I'm going to install an SSD in my PS4 anyways :p

Probably bigger chance of a Shenmue 3 now that i think about it.

I wonder how important the PS4 is for them, considering the Wii U is not doing well and DQ10 did not post the best of numbers on it, and how irrelevant the Xbox brand is in Japan.

Would love if Square announced 3 games on the PS4, no ports, FF15/Versus and 2 other games, new JRPGs running on the same engine but otherwise totally removed from FF. I doubt that will happen but...believe? =)

But I want to believe. SE wants to redeem itself right? The fact that I'm buying FFXIV doesn't help does it?

Open with FF14 (announce PS3 release date and PS4 version)
Trailer for FF15 / Versus as a PS4 exclusive for 2014.
Close with teaser for Kingdom Hearts 3 for PS4 (who knows when it will release).

That's how I see things going down, especially if the rumblings of a Sony / Square partnership hold any water.

or it might be buy the first run ps3 version and you get a free digital version for ps4 when it launches. this would increase the sales of the ps3 version so people can have access to the ps4 version later down the road. i have a feeling they will do this for beyond and gt6 as well so people do not have to worry about getting it for ps3 even if ps4 is around the corner. that is just my random theory anyways.

It makes sense to announce KH3 at some point what with the HD remasters. The start of a new generation is usually when we see Square show off a slew of games. Now if they had common sense and KH3 is several years off (likely) they would maybe hold off announcing it for a year or two, but I'm banking on Square Enix to be Square Enix.

Why announce more than one PS4 title if you have to focus on three other major titles coming later this year?

The last thing I want from Square is making more empty promises. They already showed a trailer for unnamed next iteration of Final Fantasy. Who knows when we will see that! Square hasn't yet shown it being capable of developing two big budget titles at the same time. After Versus gets released I expect Square to start development of that unnamed Final Fantasy title and a sequel to Versus. This is enough for Square's plate.
 
would it be a smart move to hype up PS4 FF14 if it's finally about to launch on PS3?

i think there's a small chance they'll mention it coming to PS4 at E3, but i think they'll definitely focus on the PS3 version if they do talk about it.

my guess as to what they'll talk about is FFvsXIII and this supposed new FF title for PS4. (expect another showing of that game engine trailer) then a release date/window for X/X-2 HD.

Agni's Philosophy is a tech demo, not a game. They currently have 2 major games in production - FF XIV (which is nearly finished but will be an ongoing thing) and FF XV (Versus) which has been in production for many years and will probably launch sooner than expected. They have a B Team on Lightning Returns which is also nearly finished and out this Fall.

So yeah. 1 game to finish after those 2 launch this year. I'm pretty sure Nomura's team will move straight onto KH3. Square always show stuff earlier than they should so there's a good chance it'll be teased.
 
I wonder if Square will dare show off Versus/FFXV for the PS4 and not mention a release date.

Same for The Last Guardian.

All of these are planned to release in 2013 (except PS4 FF), so SE won't want to miss out on this marketing opportunity.
