Comes on 3 days after my graduation, perfect. I was scared it was either during or the day of my big day. I'm looking forward to what Sony has up their sleeve.

Well this is certainly news....is this your rumor or is it based on something someone else on GAF said?

I think there was a rumor floating around 2 months ago that it would be cross-gen.

Nah the original rumor said that sometime a while ago, Sony decided to help fund Versus and it switched from a PS3 game to a PS4 one under the title FFXV.

It's a big deal if the rumors turn out to be true.
Is there anything more to the rumours then Versus XIII is now XIV and is now ps3/ps4 exclusive? I guess that might be cool but FF's brand power is in question at the moment and cross gen no less would hurt its impact.

Edit
PS3 version canned, next gen only.

Oh... Well that might do good early in the cycle.

/edit

If thats the big gun then Sony might have some trouble. I hope they would have more reveals on that level. Another one or two big surprises on that sort of level could do things.

Like if Agent was still a thing. This would be the time to show that.

I haven't heard anything about Agent.

I think it depends on how the game looks, to be honest.

If it ends up looking like crap, then it'll get shrugged off.

If it ends up looking good, then there will be a lot of genuine excitement.

I don't think Square would make the title a mainline FF game without it being worthy, but the flaws of FFXIII need to be addressed for the western market.

"The Last of Us" gameplay... on PS4. I think that's the reason why they postponed the game release to after E3, could be a cross-platform title.

Why should they damage the ps3-version?
I doubt they would announce a ps4-version before the ps3 release.

Versus has always been exclusive, nothing to say otherwise.

Forgotten about this since the silly thing has been taking so long. So Sony is throwing money (and development resources?) at a long delayed project just to move it from PS3 to PS4? Not seeing much of a megaton there.

The game is being developed by a good amount of people who worked on FF7 and KH. Fans have wanted a good FF all generation.

I thought the last rumor said it was ps3/ps4.

Not sure what I want. Next gen only would result in a better game, and probably a clean start for the series after this gen's debacle. Cross gen means I don't have to buy another system though.

Personally I don't think it's cross gen. Like TLG they likely had trouble getting the game together on PS3 hardware.

This is why I'm most excited for the game. The team involved, the promise of a world to explore again, airships, mechs, cars to pilot and a new take on the classic battle system with something more akin to KH. Composer, Yoko Shimomura is pretty special too.

But how many people from the development of the superior Final Fantasy, FF6, are involved? That's what I want to know. ;)

Not going to disagree with you since I'm one of them. Love the series but at this point I'm not sure if I have faith in SE to produce something I'll enjoy. Development hell makes me think it's even less likely.

Has there been any world slip from scej about the last guardian moving to ps4 or is that just speculation?

If Sony want to blow me away, I want TLG, FFV, and deep down gameplay and to be release in the first year of the ps4.

I'd like to see some Gaikai streaming demos.

If the latency is low enough to make it playable it's huge.

The whole PS2 / PS3 game collection on demand instantly available on your PS4 (only 9.99$ / month )

You go to bed : switch instantly to the Vita screen. I like the idea.

Can anyone here elaborate on what exactly Judges week is? I have always heard about it, but i have never actually understood its purpose. Is it so that select game journalists can get early previews/interviews before all the mayham starts, or is it for competetion aspects like best of E3 awards?

I always find it hard to believe none of these people let information they have leak out into the public.

If they announce tlg as a day one, ffxv as an exclusive and show one more timed or true exclusive, I'll be happy.

To be honest you'll likely get your 3rd party timed exclusive and exclusive FFXV wishes granted, The Last Guardian will almost certainly be a 2014 title though as they already have a packed launch and spreading games wisely during a consoles first year on the market is vital.

Yeah I've set the bar as realistically low as I can go. If they deliver tlg in 2014 rather than launch I would still be happy.

The third party timed exclusive is the big one for Sony. If it is something big like destiny, next gen gta v, or assassins creed, then it will set the ps4 up well for next generation and should get them a nice hardware customer base quickly.

Interesting, thanks.

So I guess allot of the stuff that gets nominated as game of the show may seem unplayable to us, but according to the game critics site the judges have to be able to play it to nominate it.

Clears up some confusion in that reguard.

Playable can mean not playable to the public - much like Last of Us was last year.

Although Assassins Creed is cross-gen so I'm not sure it would make that much of a splash, unless you mean the next instalment?
A timed exclusive I could potentially see happening is Capcom's next IP as they showed a prototype at Sony's PS Meeting. Simply because Playstation has more selling power in Japan and install base won't matter with both consoles starting from scratch.

I understand, i just remember few years where games won best of show, or best in their genre, and people complained because all we had seen was a CG trailer, or Scripted gameplay segment, atleast thats the way it looked i guess.

Its better knowing that the Judges have to actually play the games they nominate imo.

Ah, I thought that ac black flag was next gen only. I'm not a fan of the series after buying ac2 and feeling gypt so haven't kept up. But I know a lot of people like it.

Yeah, I'm talking about a next gen title that would also be a system seller, one of the big series or something new but from aa big developer,, like destiny.

Deep down, the capcom dragon slaying game, would be my preference, as I first mentioned, but that trailer was too good to be true with those animations and fire effects.

Also, I'm not sure if it would be big enough as an exclusive to sell consoles for Sony though.

Agni's Philosophy is a tech demo, not a game.

WHAT!? As someone who's never really liked Final Fantasy, something about Agni's Philosophy looked infinately more enticing. I don't know why, but it is true. Are you saying I'll never get a chance to play Agni's Philosophy?

Hmmm. Interesting.

Probably. They clearly said it isnt and wont be a game. I would expect something similar in the future though, considering the very good reception and the fact that SE got feedback through a pool on their site, which will mostly reflect how people truly loved Agni's premise.

Personally I don't think it's cross gen. Like TLG they likely had trouble getting the game together on PS3 hardware.

Oh man, you imagine the the flip out that would occur if there was a live demo of The Last Guardian to close the show? Sure a bigger name may be better, but this would ignite the blogosphere and forums.
