Man.
Dying for rumors and leaks here.

This time 7 years ago (or was it 8 ?) we at least had a few rumors about the shape of the console itself and iirc closeups of a few details.

Because of ourcolony. I hope MS' marketing division starts sending out nextbox assets this week. They will leak for sure. :P

If you want rumors, google "Durango site:pastebin.com" :D

I approve of this tactic mr Aaron, as long as you keep your head straight about what we want to see.

8 DAYS!

8 DAYS!

I'm quite surprised there were no hardware leaks at all. Running it pretty thight. Hopefully they show the box. Personally I don't care (as I didn't at the PS4 reveal) but the buzz will be bigger if there is something to show.

I'm not that desperate.

oh, who am I kidding.
I just went there :P

heh, soundwaves transferring data.

Anyway I'm just curious in the last some rumors about the sound card. I'm deaf person that meaning it won't do much on me. So I hope not they spent on it too much research, as I'm pretty happy with 16 bit sound card.

I searched linkedin again and found that 2 people are calling the next Xbox "Xbox Next" - I searched for that string some weeks ago and found nothing.

Probably means nothing.

At Microsoft it has become customary (in last few years) to refer to the next version of a product "something Next" on public forums regardless of its code name, official name, etc.

Ex: Windows Next is a reference to the next version of Windows (a.k.a. code name Blue). But back in early Windows 8 days, we used to refer to Windows 8 as Windows vNext, etc.

Summary: Means nothing!

I laughed with the "expert dog keeper" 's insights on next console :)

Now I need to find a pastebin with an expert cat keeper, so that I know if my cat will tolerate those terabytes of sound bandwidth that will be unlocked in da future.

IF MY CAT DONT LIKE HOW YOUR TERABYTE SOUNDS, THEN NO BUY!!!

:)

I genuinely wondered how cats would react to kinect, if they happened to be able to see the infrared dots of the depth sensor. Considering how a single laser dot can get them excited, a full kinect would drive them nuts.
But since there's been no report of feline nervous breakdown, I suppose that everything went fine.

The one huge change MS has to make.

Diversify the library.

I don’t mean that in a superficial ‘just have less space marines’ way either.

One of the big mistakes, in my opinion, is the line they have drawn between their hardcore audience (lapping up COD, Halo and Gears) and their casual offer, which has largely been Kinect games.

The problem is that to establish Kinect, Microsoft has had to give it a fairly large share of Xbox’s marketing ‘voice’ and hence the perception has been that Microsoft are less interested in hardcore gamers… this despite the fact that the likes of Army of Two on 360 outsell AAA Sony games like Uncharted 2.

One thing Sony has been very good at is offering a broad ranges of titles for different tastes – with family and casual titles ‘in the mix’ of it’s normal run of publishing. What Microsoft have done is the equivalent of Sony saying ‘Wonderbook is our casual offer’ and then promoting the hell out of it with few other casual titles in the library.

Microsoft needs, badly, to remind everyone it’s about the games and create games that segue across both the hardcore and casual spectrum, where the input device is the right one for the title / experience, not the one with the most buzz or perceived to be the 'one for that audience' - thats how new experiences can surprise and delight both the hardcore and casual market.

There’s bound to be cross pollination in this approach… Say you are one of the many people that bought an Xbox for Kinect and have played a few games, there are literally no ‘bridges’ in the library that span genres to entices you to try something outside of that space. Not even in simple ways like putting iconic Xbox characters in Kinect titles to build recognition… or simple feeds (like livearea on vita) that show titles other people play.

the xbox 360 kinect does nothing to my cat.
or at least it did nothing for the time that I had it connected.

but this hilarious pastebin I read 20 minutes ago, its about the next xbox, and how the magic box will transfer data in ..audio waves with tremendous bandwidths, and that there is a chance that it will ship with ..dog ear protectors and such lololol

Diversify the library.

I don't get complaints like this at all, the 360's game library could hardly be any more diverse.

I don't think that there's a hard line drawn between Kinect games and core games either, at least not by Microsoft. They've been trying pretty hard to make Kinect ubiquitous across both core and casual experiences, and I can only see that trend continuing. Many open-minded core gamers who also happen to own Kinect seem to be quite happy with games like The Gunstringer, Kinect Sports and Dance Central. I don't see many better examples of transcending the core/casual division, Kinect or otherwise.

This time 7 years ago (or was it 8 ?) we at least had a few rumors about the shape of the console itself and iirc closeups of a few details.

This time in 360's life in we had a fully orchestrated reveal teaser... rumours about the logo and design of the box, abstract shots of trees from Kameo, close ups of bits of the controller and console.... they went to town on social / viral stuff.

That they have everything so locked down this time is really different.... they had a very deliberate drip-drip-drip of PR 'leaks' going on last time.

Guess they really don't want the competitors to know what is happening... no reason to hide it from customers.

The leaks that have come out so far have obviously been produced by MS to create buzz to the event on 21st (especially that it will play games offline "leak" from last week so more people will watch it now). I thought this was obvious? Why would they be able to lock down things about this console so tightly and not care about other specifics coming out. MS is playing the consumers and media.

Xbox Next gets Respawn's shooter.

PS4 gets Shenmue III.

Next gen is over.
What does Wii U get? Half-Life 3?

I hope so too as I will definately need them soon to be able to prepare graphics for the E3 thread. Assets will certainly be released on the 21st, but it would be wise of Microsoft to supply at least something a few days before.

The mind simply boggles at the possibility for tedious level of detail and boring menial task minigames 8GB of RAM could bring Shenmue3.

And a BluRay disc...over seven million pointless collectible figurines. Groundbreaking.

In my mind there is only one question worth asking: what did we do to deserve this?

This week is some kind of Pre-E3 press briefing in LA. Do you think MS will show something there?

Nobody is going to bankroll a proper full-on Shenmue sequel now. Even on internet forums there isn't much interest in another game.

Cut out the next Twisted Metal, Starhawk and Playstation All Star budgets and use them for Shenmue 3. Some neogaf insiders have long hinted about 3rd parties taking sides this upcoming gen. Shenmue 3 realistically will sell most on Sony's platform.

I can hear the teaser trailer voice over now "The team who brought you Dragon Age 3 partners with Sega, the company this series nearly bankrupted, present Shenmue3!"

DLC Capsule machines.

I guess we really are going to be seeing a lot of 3rd party exclusives this time around. Interesting times ahead. Only E3 can give us a better picture.

I'm not so sure of this. They control everything about any information about hardware design with the reveal happening on their campus. I really don't think you are going to hear much this week.

CONTROVERSIAL OPINION: Halo 4 is not only the most true game to the books and the story but it's the best Halo game there has been with the best campaign and multiplayer.

So any bets being taken whether or not Microsoft will succeed not to have a leak blowout before the reveal?
