Damn right you are.Welp, looks like I'm buying Hard Corps: Uprising soon.
Yo dat bass.
I have the soundtracks for darn near everything Ishiwatari. Dude's already been inaugurated into the awesome hall of fame (which exists in my head).
lol gamespotThe grating metal soundtrack and awful voice-overs don't help when concentration is the key to your survival.
Yo dat bass.
Aside from Metal Gear this is also giving me some amazing Blade Runner vibes.

Minette would probably be the most interesting character to add to the cast. What would be really interesting is if her own teammates could be characters she serves and then a snap-in puts them where they currently are on-screen (think of the cross-up potential!).It is decided. I am voting for the Dagonians. Not for Minette, but for Starfish:

Actually, I'm convinced by the arguments about how much fun Minette would add to the game.

Minette just has so many interesting ideas that could be built upon. I see far fewer creative options for a lot of the other characters.
I AM SO HYPE RIGHT NOW
You people have no idea. Oh my god. This is just what I've been waiting for. I've said this before, but as someone who spent their childhood with their imagination utterly captured by space, I'm enthralled. The quasar, the Galaxy Cutter, the Destruction Pillar (haha, I totally see what Alex did there), and that season two power up (her level three super?). All of it looks spectacular. Seriously, you guys. Seriously.
EDIT: Holy shit, did anyone notice? Annie's eye returns to her socket when she transforms.
EDIT 2: AND SHE BECOMES AN ADULT
1 Annie
Well yeah, because she fuses with Sagan

My response: nah bro.Minette is the opposite of interesting
Seriously, if SNK is that difficult to deal with, I"ve always sad the fans could probably outdo SNK at this point. I'd love to see a Lab Zero quality team work on making an SNK game.
My true dream project would bomb so hard, so I'd settle for a new game with SNK's soul. Skullgirls has a very strong soul, but it isn't anything like SNK's, and I have real doubts Mike Z could make a good SNK-style game. Get Fersis to design it.
Minette is the opposite of interesting
I'm okay with this. Obviously I'd rather have one of my top picks, but she's at #4 for a reason...Browsing some of the results in this thread makes it almost painfully clear that Black Dahlia is probably going to take this round if we're at all representative of the base. Instant-runoff almost ensures that the majority of the less popular picks are going to go straight to her and she's almost always in that spot of second most likely pick after a person's top 2-3 spots.
Yeah, I'd be fine with Black Dahlia too.I'm okay with this. Obviously I'd rather have one of my top picks, but she's at #4 for a reason...
Mike and the team set out to make something comparable to Darktalkers, the versus series and Guilty Gear. The plan was never to go with something overtly SNKish in the first place. People gotta get that. The fact that they managed to take from so many outlandish games and produce something fun is promising. I believe they'd pull it off better than any other American dev could and certainly better than ASW or Capcom would so it's worth a try.Maybe SG's relative success in the Japanese PSN would help.
I'd like to see Mike Z tackle a less Capcom-inspired system, but on the other hand I'm also a bit weary of how the franchise would be handled, as I don't see a lot of love for it in the current L0 output - the Fatal Fury games seem to have focused on their setting first, and gameplay second, so the controls change significantly every few games, and the daddy of the series, Takashi Nishiyama, is now head of his own company, and the current writer for all SNK fiction, Akihiko Ureshino, as far as I know doesn't speak a word of english, so it would be tricky to keep the tone of the classics.
Still, with enough communication at the level we've seen from L0 lately could be maintained for such a project, this would have my curiosity, attention, money, and whatever work I'd be able to put into it.
I'm pretty sure Ravi speaks and writes Japanese fluently(or someone on the team does). They've done like half a dozen interviews with Famitsu already and almost all of them were before the PS3 version even hit Japan ten weeks ago. Somehow they managed to get JP fans on board enough commit $92,000 to the IGG campaign and that is nearly the same amount Smashers donated for the fight against breast cancer. Clearly they're better at communicating with Japan than most American fighting devs... well, the one other American fighting game dev lol.Japanese fluency would probably make things easier, I'm not sure that skill exists in the core Lab Zero staff, but it would likely help.
I should have specified that I meant the West in particular.Working with the outside hasn't been much of an issue for SNKP, but a lot of that in recent history has been contained in Asia, with their characters appareaing in other games like Lord of Vermilion, Queen's Gate, Lost Saga and that chinese game Xuan Dou Zhi Wang.
It's sad that people blame Mike instead of circumstances outside of his control when it comes to the button scheme.Hopefully he can get that mindset out of his system with SG tweaks and the characters to come, and a 4-button system (maybe an extra just for throws like FF1 would be nice) would ease the load on the animators and make eash individual attack matter more.
I tend to worry about Mike's Capcom-centered philosophy that shows so much in SG, but as a grappler guy, it's probably not beyond him to do justice to something a bit different.
Infinitely easier said than done.Seriously, if SNK is that difficult to deal with, I"ve always sad the fans could probably outdo SNK at this point. I'd love to see a Lab Zero quality team work on making an SNK game.
lolYup. This is pretty fucking vanilla. I'm sorry I doubted you Q.
The only interesting thing is the transformation and the potential altered special moves that brings.
Everything else is Ragna/Sol but not as original or hype.
Fuck this character.
Looks like we've got a new space bro in the family.Final Round Votes~
I've been a reluctant Annie voter this round while putting her in my 3rd or 4th slots each round. I told myself that the game needed another zoning character and that I'd like to see a shift to completing characters that are relevant to the current arc of the story ... but a combination of already getting my absolute top in terms of gameplay and design with Eliza and being a ridiculous Space / Astronomy / Sol-Badguy fan makes me far more willing to vote on a character based on their theme rather than what they'd contribute in other areas.
Fuck it.
Let's reach for the stars.
Annie, Dahlia, Minette and Beowulf are the definite contenders. Aeon will stay haxxing the votes as usual. Feng and Panzerfaust are unlikely, but who knows what could happen.Browsing some of the results in this thread makes it almost painfully clear that Black Dahlia is probably going to take this round if we're at all representative of the base. Instant-runoff almost ensures that the majority of the less popular picks are going to go straight to her and she's almost always in that spot of second most likely pick after a person's top 2-3 spots.

Yeah, I've heard him speak several times at Salty Cupcakes. Ravi never goes into detail about who does the translations so I assumed it was him. Sometimes I have no clue who does what over there outside of Mariel, Mike and Cristina Vee.I'm 99% sure Render speaks/writes Japanese and does all the Japanese communication for the team. I remember him speaking Japanese on an episode of Salty Cupcakes a month or two ago.

Instant Runoff Voting has its flaws, and they can be exploited.Black Dhalia is what Creators want. That's one of the reason why I don't want her to win. If she won then I will have no problem with calling this poll rigged.![]()

I put Annie, Stanley, and Dahlia as my top 3.
As for which game I'd like them to tackle... I picked FIGHTER'S HISTORY. A restaurant that I used to go to always had a small selection of arcade games, and that was one of them the entire time until it closed. That whack-ass game was a huge part of my childhood. I flipped out when I discovered there was a sequel, even if neither the original nor the sequel were very good games.
Of course Garou is the better answer, but it's not like anyone else will vote Fighter's History anyway. And I didn't really play much of Dynamite, I just know that Karnov is basically better than everyone else. But hey, we can wish for playable Ox...What's wrong with Fighters History Dynamite? The control scheme changed from 6 to 4 buttons, but the game still felt solid, even if it's not terribly balanced.
Ryoko Kano is one of my favorite character designs, walking that fine line between simple and iconic, I kinda hope she'll make a return someday, maybe in some NGBC2 since Mizoguchi was in KoF MIRA.
Still, Garou is the superior choice in this poll.
You sure as hell won't see any opposition from me if the gears start moving on a new Garou game. That's clear enough, which is why I didn't really care about SG for a long time - I bought the asme out of sympathy when I saw the initiatives bahing the donation drive, and donated for a shot at helping to shape the cast.
The issue I took with the path SG took is that people willing to play a 6-button game and/or something assist-heavy and/or lots of airdashing stuff are already playing other games with that sort of thing, mostly from Capcom and ArkSys.
Since SG blanded a few different influences, I couldn't help but wish some of my personal preferences had made it in as well, although that wasn't the case, I can deal with that. I figure by now there's enough know-how in the team to do something different within the genre.
So, if I can indulge in some wishful thinking I will, and seeing Garou being considered in that poll is nice, so I can't help but hope that idea has legs to stand on.
First time seeing her and I like her already. At least she has more common sense than Makoto who is just asking to have her neck broken. What's wrong with Fighters History Dynamite? The control scheme changed from 6 to 4 buttons, but the game still felt solid, even if it's not terribly balanced.

This logic is so tortured. lolStanley is also a fish, but as he does sports, he for sure uses deodorant (with fresh sea smell, like a true man) so he is better than minette.

They just give us an idea and this is just a tiny tiny sample of the stuff Mike would have to go through. I'm pretty sure that Mike probably goes through like a hundred different pieces of art before they even begin to animate heavily.1. Feng
2. Annie
3. Panzerfaust
4. B.Dhalia
5. Beowulf
6. Minette
7. Stanley
8. Issac
9. Venus
10. Aeon
How it goes.
Trinity girls are pretty awesome, but I don't want to see them added as DLC. If a SG 2 isn't coming, then tough luck--I think there are better concepts to go after with a DLC slot. Same with Issac--his potential/complexity screams sequel material.
#TeamFeng 100%, but definitely will rep Annie too. Her concept art is awesome, though I wish they'd shown less of the GG-inspired stuff and more of the outrageous stuff like the beam attack(s) or the mini-sun. (Quasars being like Ky crosses is somehow disappointing...)
Panzerfaust is 3rd because I want some Stroheim-tier-ego up in here, plus Big Band needs a bro bruiser. "My arm was created to surpass Skullgirls!" Canopian Science > the world.
Beowulf is slightly edged out by B.Dhalia, but still think he'd be a great addition. B.Dhalia took it for story in-ties, plus her concept art/tech looks baller. Also, I would love to see a TF2 weapon skin for her grenade launcher...
I was fairly torn on where to put Minette and Stanley, and their placings are the result of that indecision. If either of them had seen concept art, they might have gone higher on the list.
You're a good man. Personally I hope it comes down to rush punches versus big dippers.Feng

Yeah I did. I don't mind either of them winning.

I expect a lot of stuff in the concepts for every character to change or even disappear by the time they become playable.
