IGN Forums Nintendo E3 Rumors: Biggest Mario to date, Retro's Game, Goku in Smash?

They've been reported by 2 Nintendo Fan Sites and I don't know exactly where the rumors are in the IGN Thread (16 pages), but APPARENTLY the guy who's been saying those rumors has been right in the past. (100 Year Old Gamer.)

He says:

1. Nintendo will hold 3 to 5 Directs between now and the end of E3.
2. The New 3D Mario will be the biggest we've ever seen and will look like nothing we've ever seen.
3. Retro's game is a futuristic FPS everyone wants them to do (heard that one before...)
4. A certain "Super Saiyan" was teased to be in the next Smash Bros.

I have no idea... but it's always fun to laugh.

Retro's FPS - is that another Metroid Prime? Is that really something everyone wants?

#2 certainly sounds great. I would love to have my mind blown by a Mario game.

3-5 directs before end of E3 is a lot. Have they even announced one date? Or do you think they'll start right before E3?

YES PLEASE!!! But doubt the rumours if its that way lol, Namco will rather make their own Smash with Jump characters

Open World 8 bit Mario?!?!

Also is this 'everyone wants them to do' an ongoing gag or just the obvious Metroid?
 
3 out of 4 are at least plausible, Goku in super smash is uber ridiculous, of course if it did happen the melt down would be glorious

This is Nintendo-speak for 'will contain slight variation on NSMB assets'.
 
One of his posts mentions that there will be a Wii U Nintendo Direct "on or before the 30th" (of this month". I guess we can base his "credibility" on that, but as always, this should be taken with a big load of salt.
 
As much as I would love to believe some of this, the last one kills the believability.

Also, please do not put Goku or any other horrible anime characters in SSB. God that would be aweful.
 
Wasn't one of the rules of Smash that all characters had to originate in video games? That alone tells you this is BS.
 
Well Namco Bandai is helping with development and they produce the Dragon Ball games as well

But I think they'd rather pick one of their own creations such as Pac-Man since getting Goku in such game could be difficult

If they add anime characters, then they should add Luffy as well
 
i heard Grand Theft Auto V doesn't actually exist and it's just a viral marketing campaign for the next 3D Mario game. oh yea Final Fantasy Versus XIII? it's actually being co-developed right now by EAD as cross-over with Legend of Zelda. i've been right on stuff before.

Depending on your definition of "open world", we've already had two in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine.

I thought the only requirement was that the characters have to be part of the Nintendo library of games somewhere.... somehow.

You must be new to GAF; this has been brought up many times.

Okay, I'm sure you've played Super Mario 64. The levels in that game are pretty open. Now, imagine a game where all the levels are connected. The game notifies you when you enter a new area, and some areas are blocked off until you defeat a boss.

Futuristic FPS? Well there goes what little hype I had for Retro's game, especially if it turns out to be another first person Metroid. And if it is a new MP, hopefully it won't be motion controlled like MP3.
 
Well, if he's been right in the past, and knowing how lenient the Nintendo rumour scene is, someone has probably reported them. And he has a post history, so surely someone can source where he successfully predicted or leaked something.

Otherwise it sounds like bullshit. And personally, I loathe the idea of polluting a franchise like Smash with characters that did not originate in the world of videogames. Bollocks idea.
