One more week! I'm in Europe so after I get back from work on the 21th I can turn on my Xbox, have something to eat and watch the conference. Hype!
Although in the ad on the dash they mention COD Ghosts as one of the games in the conference so a bit less hyped for that.

Where is this FIFA stuff coming from? Is there a rumour?

Anecdotally I know a lot of people who play FIFA on PS3, even if they own an Xbox 360. A lot of people still associate it with PlayStation.

Microsoft did strike an exclusive Kinect feature deal with EA. I don't see why they wouldn't evolve the deal to other exclusive content as well.

But FIFA will never be platform exclusive for non of the big 3.

Things are going to get interesting next gen. MS being aggressive in Europe oh yea!

Edit. I had a feeling they would prioritise the region.

Yeah, but that's sort of a misnomer - PS3 doesn't have Kinect, so it's exclusive by virtue of it existing. Similarly, the PS3 version had "exclusive" Move features.

Rumors of EA and MS having some sort of partnership for next gen. But imo there is no way in hell FIFA would be an exclusive on anything in this day and age.

Now that doesn't stop their being exclusive features.

The fabric cladding looks acoustically transparent. It'd be hilarious if Mark Cerney did laps of the car park and beeped his horn all the way through the presentation.

i think theyll have enough watts inside to cover outside sounds :D

but yeah would be def funny!

Prioritize? Since they still have to get non-english speaking countries on a similar level to the US/Japan/UK with regards to Kinect voice, apps etc, I'm all for it.

That was a pretty good video with some reasonable complaints and suggestions. I don't agree that they should abandon grand Kinect titles, however, and the vision needs to be pushed even further (while keeping it grounded within the device's realistic limitations), but there should definitely be room for smaller titles as well. Mini-game collections I'm not that fond of, but thinking outside the box (like his Kirk game suggestion) is exactly what I want from Kinect - not motion controlled facsimiles of already existing genres.

That said, I think aiming all his complaints at Microsoft is misdirected, it's the development community at large that needs to take notice. And of course, we have to see what the next Kinect is going to be capable of first.

It's pretty bad the way they've shunned those markets. I expect it to be among the first things they try and correct.

Thing is Microsoft did that micro-apps suggestion with Kinect Fun Labs. Problem is a lot of the Kinect stuff on PC side are these little enclosed apps and without some kind of Kinect App Store it's not really viable to release on the system.

I'm huge Forza and PGR guy but if Sega GT 2013-14 came out on Xbox 720 I'd buy it day one.

So many feels... so many good memories.

I was going to say that's a really blurry screenshot but that is actually how the game looks. One of the most aggressive vaseline filters I've ever seen.

gaffers.... what news of THE TENT?

To think that tent will shortly contain all of hopes (halo) and all of our fears (kinect).

Also....

ONE WEEK LEFT!

Thanks for the english tips :) ill try to do better

I think that all the sites based their words on the existence of the superdae leaks...
yes that exist...
kotaku edge vgleaks all based on superdae sdk leak

from edge
"Our insider described the screengrabs from the Durango SDK on vgleaks.com as “entirely legitimate”, although they contain much of the same information we revealed on February 6th, and were circulated to developers working with the console last year."

they talking about superdae sdk ...and the specs are based on that ..

but superdae himself admits on twitter that the leak is old ....and ps4 specs looked better because of this

"DAE
‏@superDaE
@cryengine1007 Durango info released in past was old, which, when Orbis info came out, made Orbis look a whole lot better. Derp."

for this reason i dont take vgleaks edge kotaku ..and everyoen basing on superdae leak as fact when him said for long time that durango>ps4

The other sites have confirmed that they have information that is both newer and not from superdae, and all the sites have different sources, some have multiple.

Yo FordGTguy, can you make me a Gears Judgment one with only on Xbox. I would definitely rock one of those as i'm playing it at the moment and loving it. :)

That was a pretty good video with some reasonable complaints and suggestions.

I mostly agree with his points, but I don't understand how they could be complaints when it's a big part of what MS did with kinect. They already have many games based on mini-games compilations, also made cheap standalone mini games (like all the sport spinoffs), games for special events (like the mars rover landing), etc.
Kinect is a lot like an arcade experience indeed, and that's where it will shine. Have something simple enough to be understood and enjoyed from the first second, even if you won't play it for hours.

I don't think specs crossed my mind once when I was deciding whether to buy a 360 or PS3. It's just so completely and utterly irrelevant to gaming. I know I'm going to get crucified for that comment but fuck it.

"Halo 5 looks amazing but I just can't get over that 176GB/sec bandwidth in PS4!"
- nobody ever

Exactly... specs are interesting, sure... but what matters is what happens on screen.

We simply won't know for sure until both consoles are on the show floor at E3 - all we'll have seen before then is tightly controlled PR pieces.

Also... I am mindful of "Xbox 1.5" and how MS surprised everyone with how close to PS3 the 360 was in capability.

Sorry but I don't understand this. Specs *are* responsible for what happens on the screen... sure those rumored specs don't mean that games will look like shit, but there is a possibility that PS4 games/versions could look even better, if Microsoft won't upgrade them. And specs don't only affect graphics but also gameplay etc. like size of the game world, npc count/diversity, animations, physics, AI, ...

I've seen the Durango GPU overview slides from early 2012 - the speeds noted there point to the usage of DDR3 ram. So no - his claim is not legit (or at least the "always has" part) unless Durango is MS' Argo. ;)

Early 2012 ..more than 12 months ago is a fair amount of time and if xmas 2013 is the target release date thats close to 2 years

Not like MS has piles of money to change anything is it

On paper 360 was 'never' going to keep up with PS3.

After PS3 launched 360 did a bit more than keep up.

What I meant is that we need to see the reality of how artists use the power before making any judgement as to what it really means.

It's not linear anymore. In the 16bit era it was easy - more sprites at once, more colours and better resolution - you can draw a straight line from that.

1 - we don't know for sure what's in the next xbox (so lets have the discussion when we know)

2 - we don't know for sure what the customisations made to either system will mean in the real world.

3- I've had more fun with halo this gen than any Sony release... and of those games only the campaign of Halo 4 genuinely impressed me with graphics. On the other hand, God of War Ascension is probably the best looking console game this gen and it is sinfully boring. It's about how it all comes together in the experience.

Most people don't get cramps if games look even better on some other system, otherwise all console gamers would be spending days crying their little hearts out.

That said, I don't think we'll be seeing a major difference between PS4 and Durango multiplatform games even if the rumored specs turn out to be true. The difference in raw power (lower than the widely misreported 50% once the CPU is also added to the mix) just isn't big enough for anything like that.

It's all rumored but the CPU is identical in the leaks so it's all about the memory and GPU. (GPU that has 150% FLOPs of the Durango.)

I think many will dissapointed if they think the specs are going to be radically different from the leaks we have seen.

Egh, Sony (PlayStation) has been a long running partner of FIFA. That's why people associate FIFA with playstation. EA has the FIFA licence. I doubt Sony will allow MS to have exclusive FIFA content.

It would be different with these specs. Xbox 360 had better GPU, better RAM, PS3 had better CPU - they were about equal. PS4 has better everything, as it seems.

Of course not. But when I buy a new system, and one console has better specs, I will consider this.

If you add the CPU in, the processing power difference would be ~46%, not 50%, right. But memory bandwidth is still +150% for the 8GB, which can't be fully mitigated by eSRAM. And then both systems seem to have different amounts of reserved RAM. I just don't see how games will look the same with these specs, and I hope Microsoft has made an upgrade, because it would be better for all gamers.

This is news to me. I've never known anybody to associate FIFA with any platform in particular.
