Hollow Knight Silksong Special ANnouncement Set for August 21

If they make you waste a fuckin upgrade slot just so your position appears on the map again I'm gonna lose my mind. That was one of the dumbest design choices imaginable in Hollow Knight.

Otherwise, hot damn, I can't wait!

There is no way the game lives up to the hype. Best case scenario, it's just as good. Hopefully not bigger, as HK was sprawling enough already. It's a 10/10 game I have no desire to replay because it's so damn big and exhausting.

That's pretty much what I've kind of thought the last year or so. It's been in development hell because they potentially haven't been able to live up to the standard of the lightning in a bottle the first one was and their compensation is going to be some 80-100 hour mega sprawl map. I'm hope I'm wrong.

HK was perfect length, perfect gameplay, but during two seperate replays, I've given up when you make it towards the bottom on the map as it's a grind.

What happens was, and this is the funny story, They had the game all wrapped up in 2020, and listen to this cause it's so funny, when Matt cleaned his house from covid and threw out all the masks he accidently, haha, through out the code for the entire game that was sitting on a flash drive which his cat brought next to the masks. So basically they had to redo the entire game, omg oopsie, from scratch and they also added Dame Helen Miran to VO Silksong.

The cat died of a tragic car accident when Matt ran over him 4 times.

It's been 8 years since original Hollow Knight. It took Moon just 5 years to release Ori's sequel and even original game was light years beyond Hollow Knight visually. FFS what they hell are they doing for so long when the base concept, assets, animations etc. were done 8 years ago and Silksong doesn't look all that different in comparison to original game, outside of new character and combat stuff which was done years before today?

Comparing Silksong to Ori 2 is kinda silly. Team Cherry started Hollow Knight as just 3 people, and for Silksong they stuck to a small core of ~10-15 devs and relied on outsourcing for animations and assets. They deliberately didn't expand the team, to keep control over their hand-drawn, dark, super detailed style - which is insanely time-consuming. Moon Studio, on the other hand, has over 100 devs and a painterly, glowing style that scales much faster. 8 years for Silksong? Totally reasonable if you want everything polished and the world to feel alive. And just to be clear, I don't think Silksong is "uglier" than Ori - it's just a completely different art style.

Assuming a shadow drop today, as people on Reddit are saying they are able to pre-load the game on Gamepass.

I never played Hollow Knight, but I decided to check it out this week because of the Silksong hype. I can understand why the game was popular when it was released 8 years ago, but we've definitely had better soulslike metroidvanias since then. Maybe I'm missing something with Hollow Knight? Still looking forward to giving Silksong a try.

You should still play Hollow Knight, it holds up. Top 5 Metroidvanias out there.
My only beef with the game is that it's very hard in places and you have to focus, get in the rhythm and time... every... button... press methodically. Mash the button and you die.
But I still played it for 127h and I'm going to return to clean up a few more achievements some day.

You can get a PC key for less than 8$/€

loved hades , HUGE binding of isaac fan , dead cells and a few other but could never get into Hollow Knight , dont know why it never clicked for me

It's amazing how many people are waiting for this announcement. I know some here like to kinda shit on the game, but I do feel like it connected with you beyond the game.

This is why idc about Neogaf anymore. Bunch of pseudo gamers.
Every time one of my favorite games ever comes out I hop on here and there is someone desperately interested in selling me that the game sucked.

I've heard people hate badly recently on:

Lies of P
DK Bonanza
Mario fuckin Kart(how?)
Somehow every Mario(and most Zeldas, Pokemon, basically anything Nintendo but Xenoblade)
MGS3
Balatro
MH Wilds
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
Hollow Knight - there was a whole thread of haters on this one
Constantly on BotW and TotK
Split Fiction
Death Stranding 2
Oblivion Remaster
Resident Evil 4(both of them)
Wuchang
Wukong
Metroid Dread
