It doesn't make any sense for a variety of reasons. And, I've heard nothing of any 7970 in any dev kit, quite the opposite in fact.

There was an alleged leak of an internal Microsoft newsletter to employees that clarified that the new Xbox could be used offline as well. This is still just a rumor as much as any of the other rumors though.

I don't think that's actually happened. The closest there is to that is an email Arstechnica claims was sent from management at MS to employees. Do I trust Ars far more than Edge, Loltaku and Vgleaks? Yes.

If the rumors about a new engine and new movement (peak, lean, roll) are real, then I can't wait to see what Ghosts look like. I know that all of my friends are going to be playing it this holiday, so if it's actually an awesome looking, semi-fresh experience compared to past games I'll be very happy with it.

Well, seemed like a pretty cut-and-dry intentional leak to me. You don't send that email out to however many people are involved in Durango development and expect it to remain in house.

But, yes, until confirmed publicly it's still a rumor. Although personally I'm 99.999999% sure it's straight from MS.

Yeah the nice thing with the "only on xbox" trend is that even if it's silly, it doesn't have the cult of personality aspect of the Kaz/Mattrick/Reggie/Balmer/Cerny-fications of avatars.

i dont know much but i heard stuff in pm's especially back then. a good source told me durango dev kits were always unremarkable and in line with 1.2tf although he didnt know the specific model.

anyway it's on it's face stupid for a million reasons. nuumber 1 being it just doesn't even make sense for your dev kit to vastly outpower your planned retail.
