If they did that ( unlikely) and brought it over to the UK ( also unlikely) then I would be there day 1 and use that function.

Always hoped for something like that.

actually there is a decent chance that could happen in the UK, we have pretty good internet options for TV. Sky as a satellite service also offer an internet only service for a subscription fee that gives you live TV and VOD. MS could tie up with them. Or with BT to offer IPTV through durango.

Bored? Nah, go watch the old conferences as I'm doing momentarily, there's a lot of cool but nowadays half-forgotten stuff to be be found there. All those memories...

Jumping on board for this. Helps if you get the GAF thread open and follow the reactions/meltdowns.

I still remember the outpouring of unbridled joy at the Crackdown 2 announcement at E3. Hindsight is a bitch.

This has been a little more leak free than the PS4, correct? Like we knew about the controller, etc. before the reveal.

There has been precisely Jack and Shit for leaks and info so far. I prefer it that way, tbh.

It has, although im not sure im expecting any major changes to the 360 controller, pretty perfect as it is.

Hoping for more game stuff to come out although at this point I hope they can keep it leak free as its so close.

Did you read Kotaku article on DAE ?
There's no doubt he knows.
He hacked Microsoft computers and leaked legit stuff, all the info he had was real.
Might be outdated, but he certainly isn't full of shit.

Strange though, a few months ago he implied MS had some trick up its sleeve.

He doesn't really know anything

He only knows some stuff intended for devs, and devs really don't know anything

Aye but it is not the same model somehow.

Nice! I'm really exited about this, this will be the make or break for my main console next gen.
Hopefully no big leaks before either. Damn, I feel like a child the night before christmas.

The dearth of info right now is maddening, though I am in favor of no-leaks at this point.

Hopefully NBA playoffs, gaf and Star Trek will help the next 5 days go quickly!

I have a feeling after Tuesday there's going to be a lot of people saying, "They didn't show us much that already didn't leak." If what's leaked already is true, we know a lot. And if that turns out to be true, then they're not running a tight ship, and my confidence in them that they've earned will start to dwindle. I reserve the right to be surprised and amazed though. Please don't change the controller too much. It's far and away the best in the business.

Well Zero games have leaked. We're not bad at speculating, but VERY old specs are the only real "leak" we have.

I'm sure we'll get surprises.

All they need to do is fix the d-pad and the controller will be perfect.

Yep, a new Dpad ( well, kinda fixed in the new controller) and that would be good enough, I have a feeling they may have a touchpad or something similar too ( preferred they didn't)

At the end of the day, E3 is around the corner and I am sure they will want to keep a lot of surprises for that too ( like SONY are doing)

My main expectations are like 2 to 3 exclusive games, 2 to 5 AAA exclusive content/DLC and the media aspect detailed a little more with the controller and console shown. Price I think will be E3.

His other tweets are more insightful. Sounds like retailers have been briefed enough to have pre-order pages ready. And that next week's press conference is only about the product, not about the business model. And he speculates that we could see that stuff at E3.

I'm ready to pre-order. Just waiting for the go-ahead.

While Xbox 360 is mentioned in the press release, I see no reason to why we wouldn't be able to get more information on the next generation Xbox from this event. I mean, it's after XBOX: A New Generation Revealed so it's an excellent opportunity to further demonstrate the new console (or Kinect 2) to a select audience.

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--International Data Corporation (IDC) and GTIA L.L.C. today announced that three experts on transparent computing from the Microsoft Xbox, HP Consumer PC, and Intel R&D teams will join IDC Research Manager Michael Palma in the "deep dive" session entitled "Transparent Computing: Natural Interfaces for the Client and Beyond" at the SMART TECHnology World 2013 conference in Menlo Park, California on May 31st. Joining Palma are:

“Transparent Computing: Natural Interfaces for the Client and Beyond”

Ilan Spillinger, Corporate Vice President, Interactive Entertainment Business Hardware, Microsoft Corporation

Mike Nash, Vice President, Consumer PCs & Solutions, Printing and Personal Systems Group, Hewlett-Packard Company

Dr. Achin Bhowmik, Director of Perceptual Computing, Intel Corporation

Transparent computing, also called "interactive computing" and "perceptual computing," encompasses touch, gesture recognition, reality augmentation, voice interaction, facial recognition, and other technologies that will change significantly how human beings interact with electronic systems, including PCs, consumer devices, and embedded systems. Already familiar to users of Microsoft's Xbox 360 Kinect and users of HP PCs with touch screens, and developers using the Intel® Perceptual Computing SDK, transparent computing will be deployed in billions of systems across multiple industries.

"Transparent computing will be a defining element in the transformation of embedded systems to intelligent systems," said Palma. "Having these leaders from the Microsoft Xbox, HP Consumer PC, and Intel R&D teams testifies to the fact that implementing transparent computing will be transformational but challenging. This deep dive session is the best opportunity for executives to hear the perspective of real customers of transparent computing and determine whether their activities are in synch for intelligent system market success."

"Building a NUI system that is capable of reaching a broad audience is not an easy task. I look forward to engaging with the executives and Smart Technology audience and sharing my perspective on what it takes to build such a complex system people can connect with easily," said Microsoft's Ilan Spillinger.

Now, this is a very exclusive event and I expect no videos and very little information coming from it, but I wanted to bring it up due to the mention of transparent computing (which I think is a huge part of the new Xbox). Foremost regarding Xbox this relates to Kinect but of course there are many more applications for this as well (as described in the press release, reality augmentation for example). Exactly what it could mean for Xbox (at least for launch) apart from gesture and speech recognition I don't know.

Gary Taubes at IBM described transparent computing very well:

Responsive to your every word and gesture, future interfaces will let you focus on tasks instead of technology.

So other than the bubbles UI, what else was leaked/hinted at?
I haven't been following the thread, but looks like there is hype for the thing.

I wonder how significant that Michael French 'changes to the model' / retail tweet is... I mean, it's hard not to think of some retail-affecting things after all the rumours.

He's just teasing people on twitter without giving any real info, also mentioned something on "wild DRM".

The stuff about there being a retailer briefing and 'the model will change' sound legit. It was part of an article he did. The 'wild drm' stuff I took to be sarcasm.

Yeah, I think the winkyface was to indicate sarcasm.

I'm not sure I'd read too much in to the model change; it was always going to change next gen when all three console manufacturers have day one digital for all games in place.

Do you really think it's going to be all digital?

Like I could come home with just the console and buy the launch games on my console on the spot?
