Animal Crossing: New Leaf comes out in a month.

Balloons can be hit with your net in NL if they're close enough to the ground/an edge and
only drop really ugly balloon furniture so it's alright to ignore it after filling your catalogue

I think the picture of the
balloon furniture
on the ACNL wiki just made my eyes bleed.

Hope you don't get this guy, then:

His home is full of it.

This picture shows off his colours even better!

Truly the best villager. I'm actually secretly hoping I get them so I can take all sorts of screenshots.

Is that...a Midna hat? How do I get that?!

yeah, Animal Crossing's appeal is kinda hard to explain

you either got the bug or you don't, there's no real way of kowing if it's your kinda thing until you play it. It's whatever you make of it.

I'm kind of nervous about getting caught up in the hype but the game being absolutely boring. Is doing stuff fun?

It's hard to explain the game without it coming off as the most boring thing ever. Maybe see if you can get a hold of one of the past games for cheap and see how it goes?

Nah I'd rather give the 3D (supposedly best-yet) one a go and let the chips lie where they fall. Same with Pokemon X (even though I played White for a few hours and was pretty disinterested).

Is it at all feasible to keep restarting a new file until I get Hopper in my town at the start?

I have no idea how many villagers you get at the start or how many there are total but I'd be willing to do this if the odds of getting him aren't too bad. It broke my heart deleting my town on WW because I let weeds take over by not playing for months. I miss Hopper and his cranky ass.

I'd pay like three dollars or something to Nintendo to just let me pick him at the start of my town as a villager.

Also there are some gameplay videos on GameXplain that show some things. Think there is maybe 5 of them. Not sure exactly how much they show but it's at least an hour of gameplay if not more. I love AC because it's relaxing and I can play casually and not really need to fret about missing anything or coming up with some strategy to kill a boss or anything. I can collect things, play house, talk to villagers, customize patterns and music (I remember doing the beginning of a Tetris song on WW!) and just goof around. At a certain point I got bored because I wished there was combat and killing things but then I played Rune Factory and found out it was really boring to me.

Are they bringing back that feature from City Folk where the grass deteriorates as you walk on it?

Yes, but in smaller does and it's reversible by planting flowers and trees on the dirt.
It makes really pretty paths, though, and as long as you don't full run all over you'll be fine.

Ok good. My entire town was dirt in City Folk because the grass took years to grow back.

I know you start with 5 villagers. I don't think there's an official villager count but it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was 300+.

I preordered a physical copy but I'm really tempted to get a digital copy instead. Decisions, decisions.

Buy physical copy of AC + 2 other games
Register VIP codes
Sell physical copy on day1 for €5 less than its msrp
Get digital copy of AC as the gift game
Profit??

303 IIRC. Everyone from City Folk (except a monkey), some Japanese Gamecube version exclusives and all the new ones from NL.

It was a bad idea to look at the list of badges/achievements for this game.....
There is no way I'm pulling that many weeds!
(I totally will)

As far as I can tell I still have everybody added who's posted -_-

Will go back and add everyone I haven't added yet as soon as I get off work in 7 hours... ZZzzZ

The more music you goys post from the game, the more excited I get! It is SO damn good!

I always get unlucky not to have wolves in my neighbors :(

Anyway in case people forget, here's my FC:
4141 - 2034 - 2627

PM me so that I can add you people as well!

Me too. My chance to understand the hype everyone feels.
I really wasn't planning on getting it. Shibata and his wonderful so many f*****g games program left me no choice.

And now I'm hyped. Thank you.

Me too. I wasn't going to buy AC, but I had two games already on the list, and managed to find a third for ~£20. Essentially getting Donkey Kong Country Returns+AC for £20? How could I say ever say no to that?

Haven't properly played an AC game since the Gamecube original, but now my hype meter is through the roof.

I am off to bed (at 5, lol), but before I go, I made this a couple days ago, not gonna use it:

It's up for grabs, and all that

I hope the spreadsheet in the OT later on with FC includes gamers who HAD bought the game as well as including available times of the day. :3

Does the game have time travel still? I really don't have the time to grind fruit every day, so in these games after a couple of months I prefer to TT and live off the monthly interest.

Of course.

Though the OT spreadsheet should say if someone is a TTer or not, I think. I want to go legit for this one.

So stocked for this game...guys add me in preparation for endless hours of animal fun:

I also bought a 3DS for Animal Crossing.

I just find it relaxing to listn to the music, run around and jus pick up fruit. It is the ultimate chill out game.

I bought a second 3DS for Animal Crossing. Ugh.

I guess this is a silly question but what's so good about animal crossing? Never played one before.

Charm, relaxed gaming, the cuteness, the collecting. The collecting mostly. Its simpler than Sims, because it doesnt punish you for not doing some things, but I guess it has a similar appeal.
