the school i work at blocks twitch, and i could give less of a fuck what my students do during since they have 2 weeks to go before classes end and they already finished most everything that was important/cared enough to actually try to do.

I use to use a circumventor in high school, but it is very slow and I'm not sure it would work to stream video.

Could you select your text, inverse selection, switch off the text layer, go to your GIF layers and delete the selected area from them?

Write the text, select alpha, clear, merge down, copy then paste new image.

FYI The recorded PS4 conference wasn't up until like the night after the event. I remember spending two hours trying to find it after it was over but the internet was just full of little bits and clips here and there. Hopefully Microsoft will be more efficient in getting a recording up faster.

In Photoshop documents, it's a matter of saving it as a PNG. For gifs in ImageReady, choose the "optimized" view to see if your setting have transparency enabled. Different styles of diffusion can help/hinder based on how the edges look. The output settings have options for things like transparency, though I've noticed even if it isn't checked sometimes, transparency will be on for the "save-as optimized" function.
