Animal Crossing: New Leaf comes out in a month.

Well, I have the money for one 3DS game, either Fire emblem or this.

Or lego city but I hear that's bad?
I don't know if you already bought other Nintendo titles, but remember that Nintendo has a deal going on where if you buy three games out of a list, you'll get a fourth game for free. Both Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem are eligible, as well as Lego City.

I'm actually going to buy Fire Emblem (after Luigi's Mansion and Monster Hunter) and get Animal Crossing for free :D.

New Leaf is like the true sequel of Animal Crossing/Forest.
They didn't just add content, but tons of feature as well.
Also, is it true that you don't have the boring "tutorial" at the beginning? (working for Tom Nook for like 45 mins)
Yup. But you have to do some random crap in order to become mayor (do chores for neighbors, pluck weeds, plant trees and so on to get points)

To answer my own question based on what I can recall about this game (and feel free to correct as needed):

- Dream Emporium allows you to upload a copy of your town for others to visit online even when you're not around, at NO risk to your town. They can purchase/collect items from your town before returning to their own. You can likewise tour uploaded towns yourself.

- Tom Nook runs a neighborhood of model homes, containing replicas of homes of other users, both local and online (StreetPass, SpotPass), in which you can buy copies of any given piece of furniture, etc, including pieces with customized patterns.

- The ability to create patterns that can then be turned into QR codes for instant sharing with others -- no need to painstakingly recreate patterns pixel by pixel. Also, you can place patterns on virtually anything, including individual pieces of furniture, and in the end, you can take screenshots of anything, anywhere, anytime, meaning you can share shots of your custom home and town.

- As mayor you can collect community contributions to fund benches, bridges, fountains, playscapes, windmills, lighthouses, totem poles, archways, igloos, lawn ornaments and more. You even hold ribbon-cutting ceremonies for them, and have a secretary that can accompany you across town, and your own office, as well.

- Homes and the all-new camping tents can be individually placed; the exterior of homes are also now fully customizable, right down to the architectural style and hedges. Also, your basement can be fully customized like any other room now, and you still have multiple rooms on the main floor of the house.

- You can go on a picnic, eat popsicles outside, walk about town drinking coffee, and on that note, you can work part-time as a barista, and at night, you can go clubbing at the disco, one of many shops in the dedicated shopping plaza across the train tracks, which also includes a dedicated gardening shop, shoes/socks/boots shop, and more. Isn't there even someone you can hire to pluck weeds for you?

- You can wear individual pieces of clothing on individual parts of your body, including swimsuits, in which you can go swimming and snorkeling down by the beach, diving for treasure or collecting fish. There is also an island to sail to with minigames to play with up to four players, locally or online, including timed hedge maze races and whack-a-mole.

- Something to the effect of 1.5X the number of items in City Folk are available in New Leaf. And again, all of the furniture can be customized by way of the new alpaca characters.

Hmm, what am I missing?

Ahh! How have I been missing this thread? It's gonna take me forever to add everyone, omg :(

I'll be slowly working my way backwards from here adding people :) If you'd like to add mii, here she is:

custom patterns are no longer limited to the preset palettes. You can now create custom color palettes to design with.

Fucking wet dream after City Folk DESTROYED the color palettes and I could no longer recreate designs I've had since the first game.

This is honestly my most hyped feature.

Why did this make my jaw drop? why do I enjoy Animal crossing so much? I will never understand.

DUDE; you forgot the best part: The BEST villager, Cheri, is finally back in this game! Gone since the GameCube version. WOHOO

also many other villagers returning, but obviously not as good as Cheri <333

Is Limberg back?

Limberg is True Ultimate Villager. <3

Oh yeah!

Luigi's Mansion

Fire Emblem

Another Fire Emblem code from a friend
=
My first Animal Crossing, free!

Have you tried this yet? I too will have two Fire Emblem codes as of tomorrow, but someone told me multiple games didn't work with Club Nintendo. If not, I'll have to mug my brother for his Mystery Dungeon code.

Are we getting a US/EU OT for this?

Pffttt yes we will not be banished to Community just because some Eager Eddies imported a whole damn 3DS.

Can't wait for Animal Crossing.

Any recommendations on games that are part of the free game promotion?

I already have Luigi's Mansion, and I wasn't sure if I'd like Fire Emblem.

Yep, I can confirm that this works.

(EDIT: However, my copy of FE was digital while my friend's was retail, I don't know if this is important)

Do you have Donkey Kong? That's like, guaranteed good. And confirmed superior to the Wii version in every area but slight graphical downgrade. Fire Emblem is pretty good. I'm not a major strategy RPG guy myself, but I really enjoyed the Sacred Stone game included in the ambassador promotion, and there's a demo of Fire Emblem on the eShop if you need a taster.

Woo hoo! I will be fully qualified for sweet-ass 100% free £0.00 Animal Crossing as of tomorrow. Life is good.

I might grab Fire Emblem and Donkey Kong then, those were the two that stood out to me most anyway. Thanks for the suggestion.

I'd say FE is a double hit with 97% chance, with around 33% critical, for just about anyone. Don't defend.

Forgot about Monster Hunter! That's the other decent one. Lego City, Castlevania, and Mystery Dungeon are all pretty... meh in my opinion.
Thanks, but I'll probably go with Fire Emblem and Donkey Kong, and I already own Luigi's mansion. Monster Hunter seems like more of a overly complicated game to me, I have it for PSP and it seems pretty confusing.

That means I can have Animal Crossing as my free download game and I can always have it with the system.

Added a bunch of folks from the last few pages. Would be splendid if you could confirm them! Thank ye. If anyone adds me after I've posted just quote me and I'll add you up too!

Ask my permisson before you chop all my trees down or use my toilet.

When I saw this thread, I hoped it would have been a lot older. Everybody I know loves AC but I have not tried anything in the series so far..

You're not alone! Animal Crossing is awesome. You should definitely try it if you're looking for a relaxing game.

Good thinking. I was exactly the same as you actually, I don't get Monster Hunter in the slightest. But I know a lot of people do :)

I think I'll leave the friend code swapping until closer to the 14th if that's okay chaps.

So many friend codes... I'll repost mine, I think I got everyone so far.

I had no idea you could register the same game twice. Since I had two Fire Emblem codes, I have only one more game to get before I can get AC:NL for FREE!

The big question is.. Luigi's Mansion 2 or DKCR?

Can you throw me your code, Lucent?
