They are idiots, its only a box it does not matter. I much rather see MS first party titles.

You won't see any produto being revealed without showing it, not even a DVR just calling how it can record crystal clear images, or a Bluray saying how good digital images are handled or a TV with fine tuning display being explained and at the end you not taking a look on how it is.

The stuff you're talking about is the nitty gritty of the hardware. Of course folks care about it but that stuff is not always immediately obvious.

The rumoured specs indicate it'll have HDMI in and out, and also optical audio. That's pretty much it.
In the end a console is going to be a box that you rarely ever have to look at. The software around it is far more important.

Its nice to see the box, but I don't think it's a big deal if it isn't shown.

so no leaks?

wow, MS is good at this.

Completely disagree. Maybe it doesn't matter to people like us who are a little more savvy to the industry, but for the general consumer it's a somewhat big thing. I don't think it'll hurt Sony in the long run since we'll see it at E3, and no major PS4 marketing will start until after that.

for you and I maybe but to he rest of society for whom this will actually be a News story that they knew nothing about, associating a picture not only makes it real, it allows them to connect to it and helps create mindshare. Especially if it is pleasing to the eye.

Good point.

I'd say now, within six months of launch, it's far more important to show the console than in was in February. Given that this is going to be on TV and everything, they're not just going to have the hardcore audiences watching so they'll definitely want to show it. It's also a way of one upping Sony right out of the gate.

With regards to the Next Xbox, further media leaks seem highly unlikely. As one insider revealed to us:

"When Microsoft wants to run a secret project, they divide it into tents, which are cross-discipline teams. The first you know of this is you're asked for a one-to-one webcam chat, where it's explained to you that it's pretty much Fight Club, and that you're not allowed to tell anyone that you've been talked to about "joining the tent".

"You sign a load of paperwork, and then afterwards they give you some indication of what the hell you'll be working on. The bit I find crazy is that you have to find time to work on the tent project yourself; your line manager isn't allowed to know what you're working on.

"Microsoft sends out a list of stock answers that you're allowed to give if your manager asks you where all your time is going, and a phone number to call if they don't believe you. If they call that, they'll get confirmation you're working on a project, but absolutely nothing more."

The tent was leaked before!!

That isn't strawman, now no one can say anything without someone thinking i'm attacking MS.

A straw man or straw person, also known in the UK as an Aunt Sally, is a type of argument and is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position. To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by replacing it with a superficially similar yet unequivalent proposition (the "straw man"), and to refute it, without ever having actually refuted the original position. This technique has been used throughout history in polemical debate, particularly in arguments about highly charged, emotional issues.

Yeah it was.

You tried to twist the argument(strawman) to make it look like I said that the external design of a console would stop people from buying it, I merely said that the external design can be important.

Its an announcement of a consumer product and they showed off the controller. It was a pretty big fuck up.

Lets see Nissan announce a new car at a big launch even and all they show off are the wheels for the car.

Fail.

That comparison isn't the same at all. They showed the content that the console would be delivering, the things you're going to be looking at most of the time while you own the system.

So what is everyone's MS Conference snack going to be? I'm thinkin Guiness and Chex Mix.

Everyone has to take some pictures to share on the thread, got to see all the unhealthy set ups, I'm expecting heart attacks and diabetes all round now so lets not disappoint.

Got my friend visiting to share this with, last time we got some serious snacks in it was not pleasant, remember having a sugar high.

Very poor comparison. You play consoles for games and content, not for the plastic box, while the look of your car definitely matters when you buy one.
