Ok fine, Apple launch a new macbook and only show off the fucking OS. It was a fuck up on Sony's part. The fact that's what mainstream media reported on is the icing on the cake.

Funnily enough I actually didn't realize that they didn't show the console until someone pointed it out. I was just impressed to how many games they showed. Still, MS pretty much has to show the console this late in the game.

You don't show your game console to people you know, you do show your phone. You show games, not the plastic case nobody cares about. Once again, poor comparison.
People were happy with the PS4 showing, youtube video had million of views and was #1 long after the show. They showed great content and games, that's what matters.
I'm more worried about MS if they only show one game like the rumor says. That would be a fail. Gaming is about content.

I think they'll show 2-3 games and some teasers for E3. Ghosts, a racing game, and a Kinect game from Rare are my predictions for the 21st.

And thats why the conference is split up into 2 parts my friend. E3 is 3 weeks away and if Microsoft shows too much they wont have anything to fill an hour and a half conference at E3. E3 is about games and thats where they will show them. This is a product unveiling on the 21st and unlike Sony they will actually show the product and what it can do.

It's not a poor comparison. It's something people care about. Less so on GAF obviously. It could be an actual giant pile of stinking shit but if it was full of kick arse exclusives GAF would still buy it. With good reason. But the mass market wouldn't. For something to be successfull and enter the main stream conciousness that "Here it is" moment is pretty big.
That video of Mattrick taking the 360 case covering the slim model is still shown all the time. Pictures of Steve Jobs holding iPads were the standard lead photo on news sites after every Apple announcement.
I'm on the fence about if they'll show Ryse or not. That could be poised to be their big launch title so it would make sense to show it on the 21st but they'll also want to make a big deal out of it at E3. That's a game I think we'll get a trailer for on Tuesday and then gameplay at E3.

depends how heavy Kinect is.
Even if it's a hybrid, it still would be a poor title to choose as the "big" launch title.
remember, gamers is the largest market for console launch, that's not to say there aren't gamers that would be excited for it.

Ryse is the game that they're likely going to be using to sell Kinect to the core audience and will almost definitely be the visual showpiece of the Durango launch since it's coming from Crytek.

Sony showed what the PS4 can do... It showed 6 games if I remember correctly. And it won't stop them to show a lot more at E3. So you actually can do both.
If MS shows only 1 game after that, it will make people doubt their focus is still on core gaming, especially with the rumored inferior specs.
I have ZERO interest if Kinect is mandatory to play it. There is nothing they could show that will ever sell me on motion controls.

they will fubar the console release if they really do plan on using Ryse as their showcase title and it's heavy on the Kinect end.

There was no rumor of there being only 1 game. They might demo/hands-on only 1 game. They'll show more than 1.

Wonder if Epic is there for a visual showpiece. Not so sure about that Ryse title. Rare really knows how to use the xbox 360 so i would love to see their work.

A new Viva Pinata would be gorgeous. Epic's game will likely just appear in trailer form at E3. I don't see it coming this year.
Would be totally down if it's a new IP. I want more Gears of War, but not for a few years. Let it breathe a while.
