I think this is the most likely case.
For a one hour reveal, MS is sure cramming this full of content.
Specs, revealing the actual box, talking about the OS, lots of "vision" talk, IllumiRoom, CoD, Fifa and a few more unconfirmed/rumored games (PGR, Alan Wake, etc). There's going to be no time to breathe during this thing!

Would be awesome if MS used the reveal event to announce games from existing IPs and their E3 conference was all about new first & third party IPs.
I could at least see the idea of there being 2-3 console prototypes all with their own massive amount of documentation. What if the system that is going into production was not the one the specs leaked for?

).Considering Halo 4 was released last year, I don't think we'll get Halo 5 until 2014 at the earliest. Unless they've had two teams working side by side this entire time (but that just seems risky to do for a brand new studio, even if it is a proven IP).
It just means the next iteration (v = version). It's standard MS nomenclature. There's Windows v.Next, Office v.Next, etc.

Yeah, as unlikely as it is, there's the remote possibility that MS might be able to buy next gen FIFA exclusivity for 2013.
Will it pay off for them though? Unless it has a lot of exclusive features or a hook that makes people buy it over the 360/PS3 version, I can't see it being that much of a factor...

I think it depends on the overall package. I can certainly see advertising for 'exclusive' next gen COD, Fifa, GTAV, along with first party efforts paying off. At least in terms of xbox vs PS4 sales it'll give the xbox a massive edge, surely that's what they want? To get out in front of the pack fast?

Despite what some people may tell you on here, Mr. Thurrott is a very trusted and respected guy when it comes to Microsoft related rumors, so it's kind of crazy to see how much his trusted sources were wrong about, or maybe just how much was top secret or changed later on.
That's exciting, because that signifies to me there's something big enough to keep under wraps as strictly as they have. Who knows? We'll find out soon enough though!
