I don't understand where the League rumor came from. The game is literally impossible without some major overhauling, and even then mechanics like last hitting would be near impossible.

It's alright. A lot of people are just getting anxious this close to the unveil, especially with no real leaks.

You sly dog!

During our morning meeting, I sneezed once, and fake coughed twice. Not over doing it, but just the right amount.

Its a win win, if I call in sick tomorrow, I laid the groundwork, and no one really wants an ill person in the office getting everyone else sick.

If I show up tomorrow, ill look like a real trooper.

Someone hook me up with the only 'on xbox tag' for my avatar. Asked in the last thread but it was closing time and I had to go home to the places I will be from.

People said the same exact thing about Minecraft

Minecraft can be played by a monkey succesfully, and is in first person, which is what console players are already very much used to seeing.

Halo Wars controlled really well. I am not saying they could transport the game 1:1 to a controller, adjustments would need to be made for sure.

While I disagree that it controlled really well (I thought it was decent though), even assuming that it did, you'll never get the precision out of it that you'd need for something as fast paced as Dota/LoL.

Really? I'm a 90% console gamer and love league and MOBA type games. Quit making assumptions about things you know nothing about

Congratulations, you're an outlier.

Point me to a multi-million selling MOBA on consoles.

I also want to just point out that I believe this in general, this isn't tied specifically to the Xbox in any way, since I know emotions are running high and people are ready to snap at perceived slights against their favored console.

They came from a fellow poster on here who's allegedly been correct about rumors in the past. It was LoL, Hawken, and Dead Rising 3 if I remembered, and I think he mentioned something about Insomniac coming out on stage to show off an exclusive. He kind of hinted at that last point instead of saying it point-blank like the first three.

I'm not saying it's true, just telling you where it came from.

LOL

I'm wrapping up the last two weeks of unemployment until I start my next gig so tomorrow is absolutely free as a bird - got my Doritos and Mountain Dew lined up and ready!

It's not impossible imo, and keep in mind that everyone would control the game the same way.

The Dead Rising one seems to be collaborated more than the others. We will see though. As for LoL and Hawken, those would also be great gets for any console.

Did you miss the part where it would still be on PS360? Do you also realise that whatever next gen system it comes out the first fifa/cod w/e is not going to do anywhere neeear the numbers PS360 version have been pulling?

You're over-dramatising the (possible) situation.

I think even the every man is going to be aware just how note for note similar the PS4 and Durango (god I cant wait to stop saying that) are in hardware, and that any "exclusive" is going to be a totally dubious bought one or promotion driven situation. There won't be a "oh, couldnt get our engine running due to weird architecture..." shit you can throw like you would with this gen and WiiU. There will be no weaseling out of such decisions, only doubling down.

Imagine all the "ifs" EA would be facing even throwing the Durango a timed exclusive. What if MS can't make launch this year? What if PS4 is bizarrely a sensation harkening back to the PS2? What if Durango has an even faster RROD scandal attached to it? If always online is in there, and FIFA supports it, imagine for EA the severity of facing another server meltdown ala Sim City?

Some things just aren't worth a bag of gold coins pushed over the table.

It's only an hour long? Hopefully the filler shit is kept to a minimum.

I'll always give Microsoft the props when it comes to running a snappy, quick moving presser/stage event. Now, whether the content is all that great is another matter entirely.

What I would absolutely love to see was if some recent Kickstarter projects like Broken Age, Torment, and Shadowrun: Returns found their way to consoles. I have a really crappy laptop that only runs Linux so it'd be hard to play them otherwise.

It speaks nothing of its 'popularity' in a wider sense - ask the man on the street what LoL is and he'll be clueless.

ask the man on the street anything related to video games and he'll probably be clueless...in gaming there's nothing more popular than lol though.

but dota 2 seems to be the one to watch going forward.

Movie makers are already looking into failed and successful Kickstarters:) I can see companies doing the same. Its a great place to get a group in at the ground level. If I was a manufacturer or publisher I would be scanning it daily.

Games like Guardians of Middle Earth have solved problems like this. I had the same doubts as you until I tried that game, and I realized that it could totally work. It won't be the same as the PC version, especially since you don't have a mouse, but they can find a way. Because of this, it's highly unlikely that people on the console will be able to play with people on the PC though.

Not really. Everybody knows Call of Duty, and Mario etc
Heck, there's a good portion of GAF who've never seen LoL, that speaks volumes.

I dont believe huge franchises like Fifa and COD are gonna go timed exclusive even for next gen only, but, if stuff like you say above happened, they can just come back in a years time without too much damage ya know? These are annual franchises, and initially the next gen install bases will be low anyway by nature, so your downside exposure (and upside) is limited.

There are other control schemes as well. Kinect and even Project glass.

thats true i guess, but i'm not sure why. the numbers say more people play lol than anything though. cant argue with that. there's also probably lots of people that dont post on gaf that are wrapped up in lol and dont know such things as ps4/720 exist.

maybe it's bigger in foreign countries, or maybe...i dunno lol. it's like facebook or f2p stuff a little bit i guess, different markets

it does crossover some though. i dont know what the hot ios or facebook game is, but i do know about lol and dota2. they are hardcore games imo.

theres some mom somewhere that knows all about candy crush 2 and has no idea what a call of duty is, ya know? different circles.

Everyone has their own tastes in games. For example, I don't really know about any of the popular JRPG's. That doesn't mean they aren't popular though. I just don't personally pay much attention to them.

The numbers don't lie. These games are incredibly popular. In a single year, LoL had one billion hours of game time. All of Halo had two billion hours of game time from 2004 - April 2012.

I had a perfectly distracting weekend and now I'm going to a concert. I'll probably be drunk when I get home. See you tomorrow guys.

A new Perfect Dark could be pretty sweet. Outside of Resistance I think it has the craziest FPS weapons.

Some hot new MP could be cool too.

Yeah, what I was meaning to say is that the number of current players isn't really an indication of its popularity as a whole - there are loads of other factors that attribute to somethings popularity. LoL no doubt has the potential to be huge but as it stands it's not really an earth shattering scoop for MS (if it is indeed true.)
