Raise the flame shield: Your "controversial" gaming opinion.

Female protagonists in big action games are silly because females are always in the kitchen making sandwiches.

Cooking mama is the best game of all time.

I look forward to EA published games. Games, outside of a few RPGs, should be no longer than 6 hours. MMOs are a complete waste of time and money. Blizzard is highly overrated and has never made a game that is worth it's hype. ME3 is the best in the series and the original ending was great.

99.9% of the appeal of Grand Theft Auto 3 came from the shock value of getting hookers and shedding blood in 3D. GTA1 and 2 and 1979 were far superior. 3 and on were just lacking. not terrible games, but probably the most overrated games ever. They're just above average, but had lots of shit to do so simple minds were entertained.

For all that I'd just stick to Elder Scrolls.

That's how I feel about open world games in general.

- Playstation Network is terrible. It feels dead...nobody is EVER online. On Xbox it always feels like things are happening, people are chatting in games (unlike on PSN), that there is a community.

- Halo 4 is the best Halo game to date. + Halo multiplayer is still good (even though it's different, go play Halo 3 if you disagree - it still works and there are still plenty of matches going on).

- Uncharted 3 is not fun.

- PS Vita is better in almost every conceivable way than the 3DS - even the game library is better.

- Top Spin 4 is the best sports game on consoles by a mile.

Music and sound effects are 10x more important than resolution/fps/polygon count/whatever.

Call of Duty multiplayer is fantastic. Also, Call of Duty games past 4 are basically map packs + balance patches, so Black Ops (1) is the best CoD multiplayer for having the best maps and decent balance (even though that is achieved by making all guns the same).

The Asura's Wrath as much of QTE game as Guitar Hero is.

People who didn't buy FEZ because of Phil Fish should have 50% of their games/movies/music taken away.

-I think the gaming press's hard on for the sexism debate shows how desperate they are for legitimacy. Its pathetic and it shows.

-Sony's arrogance is what made me be much more "pro-MS".

-The Dual Shock is a deal breaker. The stick placement sucks, the sticks themselves suck (fingers always slide off) the DS3's triggers are a deal breaker. They're terrible. You cant even lay the controller down without depressing the trigger. I think the PS3 is awesome, and so it the suite of software and services, but that controller sucks.

-Killzone's graphics are the best of this generation.

-Killzone's joystick controls feel..off. Because of this, it wont ever get near Halo's near perfect joystick controls.

-I feel like Sony fanboys are the most annoying out there (basically went into hiding during this gen, stuck to themselves, and only recently came out in full force with the announcement of the PS4's awesomeness), Nintendo fanboys are delusional, and Xbox fanboys dont realize that MS is swindling them every chance they get (and will get in the future).

-Sony is hardcore gaming focused, care about the gamer. Nintendo's motto is "the customer is never right", and MS is only in the game for the $$.

-GAF is a hivemind and its effing annoying.

-I think the more linear, psuedo 10-hour games is the sweet spot.

-I think people confused "good UI" and the purging of redundant and boring gameplay mechanics with making the game "too easy." Yes, your loot no longer degrades, thats a GOOD thing.

People who whine about the negative practices of big companies like EA, Sony, etc. yet continually buy their products need to stop whining or speak with their wallets.

Just look at the SimCity fiasco. Fucking pathetic. As soon as news broke that the game would require always-on internet and had forced multiplayer components, everyone threw their arms up in the air yet preordered the game anyway. Then when the game came out and you had the usual server errors, people whined again.

I'm fucking tired of gamers screaming for quality games and better treatment yet constantly throwing their money at AAA shitfests without even batting an eye. And then they wonder why the AAA companies are 'too big to fail' while just rehashing the same IP over and over while dumbing down gameplay and not doing anything interesting in that regard.

Would it really be the end of the world if you didn't play the latest AAA game? If you don't like the DRM, or the company, to the point that you vote EA worst in America, why the fuck do you buy preorder their products like SimCity?

If you want better games and better treatment of customers (e.g. no draconian DRM), stop fucking supporting these practices and rewarding said companies. Blizzard, EA, Sony, etc. will never learn or change if the gaming community constantly rewards them for their ineptitude. And you know what? I don't want them to learn or change if they're unwilling to do so. Fuck 'em.

Controversial opinion..

Nintendo is doing just fine and it's much too soon to even come close to calling the wiiU a failure or success for that matter.

The negative attention is the result of a snowball effect of negative press and not through any direct fault of Nintendo's

Also I thoroughly enjoyed other M.

I'd rank XIII in my top 5 mainline FFs (haven't played the sequels or MMOs yet, though).

NSMBU is the best 2D Mario.

I actually kind of like Mega Man Starforce, despite seeing how it was a downgrade more than an upgrade from Battle Network. I'm guessing the fresh setting/characters are what put it ahead of the back half of the BN games for me.

Oh, and I liked Persona 3 more than 4.

I don't get why there are so many xbox fans here on neogaf more interested in the xbox infinity than the ps4. Faulty 360s, paying for something that should be free, near abandonment of the hardcore in favor of kinect, losing nearly everyone and every development studio that made the xbox brand what it. Why are you supporting this? I mean the excuses for xbox live on 360 were that your friends were on it, well here is your chance to change this. Another was that the 360 had the best version of multiplatform titles. Well it seems like it's most likely the PS4 will have the better versions this time (due to the much better GPU and ram).

I like Star Force as well! High five!

Unpopular opinion:

I would actually like the Vita to get discontinued as soon as possible. I want SCEJA / SCEA / SCEE / WWS to devote 100% of their resources into making PS4 the best system they possibly can. It's annoying that right now, their resources are still split into trying to prop up a dying console.

I don't want anyone to lose their job--instead, I'd like any Sony studio / partner working on Vita games to begin work on (or convert them into) PS4 games.

I feel the Vita is such a failure in the worldwide market that it should be discontinued immediately in Europe and the USA, with a staggered discontinuation in Japan within the next year.

Sonic adventure 2 is a masterpiece and no game will ever compare to it.

Sonic 06 is mediocre and dumb, but by no means unplayable. It's even kinda fun, sometimes.

Ocarina of Time is a 3D rehash of LTTP. It's also pretty mundane.

Final Fantasy X is garbage. Nothing about it was even decent.

Final Fantasy XII was a fantastic game that took the series in the right direction.

Final Fantasy XIII ruined everything XII put into motion.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is a better stealth game than any MGS game, and way more fun to play.

Rainbow 6 Vegas is still maybe the best single-player shooter of the generation.

Dead Island is a better single-player RPG than Skyrim.

1. Wind Waker is the best Zelda since LTTP, hands down. The other 3D ones are unbearable.
2. FFX is the 2nd best game in the series, after VI.
3. FFXII is a good game but mostly soulless.
4. FFXIII ruined everything that XII put into motion.
5. Super Mario Sunshine is a stain on an otherwise perfect series.

Skyrim is the most boring critically-acclaimed game this generation. I seriously don't understand how the press loved it so much.

edit: hmm, upon further thought this one doesn't really seem too controversial.

Cool to see all the Mario Sunshine love in this thread. I would say it's my second favorite Mario game after Yoshi's Island. I found the FLUDD mechanic to be very fun and unique, I feel like having the jet pack made the 3D platforming much less frustrating and much more interesting, yet the game was still able to maintain a nice level of challenge.

LOL

Mah man.

Flying in Skyward Sword is worse than sailing (which was actually fun).

The gamepad's touchscreen isn't actually a gimmick and is completely misunderstood.

I think this is controversial? Double Dash is my favorite Mario Kart.

Also from a casual perspective Brawl is a superior game compared to Melee. I know they fucked it all up for the competitive scene though.

Double Dash is awesome, I don't really get the hate. It was also the last home console Mario Kart with the superior mini-turbo system, it had amazing tracks like Wario Colosseum and Rainbow Road (probably my favorite Rainbow Road), fantastic music and it's the only game that doesn't make me choose between Toad and Peach. Character-specific "super" items, can't believe they removed that.

This was my experience with the game haha. Daisy all day err day, with Toadette riding shotgun.

I couldn't believe this either.

I agree with all of this. I feel bad for the 20 Gaffers who own one, but no use supporting a dead handheld.

Nonsense. It's only been out a year and a half...

Aliens: Colonial Marines isn't the worst thing ever. Its not even one of the worst games I've played this year.

Its not very good mind you, but it has its moments.

Goddammit Aquarmarine. Think about the poor Vita saps including myself. lol

Bioshock Infinite is an "ok" game. It's not the next coming of Christ, it's just overrated.

Also, Chrono Cross is a fantastic game and is just as good as Chrono Trigger.

Final Fantasy VIII is my favourite in the series. The Junction System was one of the best things to happen to FF.

And finally, The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword was one of the best Zelda games in the franchise, easily top 3.
