It is a bit silly though isn't it chubs? Sony just needs to show a little respect for the competition and see what they have to offer. Thats what Microsoft did for the playstation meeting.

Show respect? What did they do that was so bad? I could see if they leaked the specs or one of the titles they are going to show.

Sony reeking of desperation today, it isn't attractive. They should've just kept quiet for the day rather than marketing looking like a pack of idiots.

Oh please. If Microsoft was the one doing it, everyone would be high fiving and talking about how aggressive MS. It's jockeying for position going into E3, nothing more.

"In case" NeoGAF goes down? Don't you mean WHEN NeoGAF goes down?

Guess we will find out during the pre-shows...if GAF starts to slow down then,we can forget it during the conference...oh well after show posts should be fun as well....I really hope it wont crash though...***fingers crossed***

You should get a download for the Live player app...I got it and it patched yesterday but so far,for the last 2 events,it never worked for me,all I got was a black screen,no sound,nothing...maybe its a Canada thing...

Okay. I'm looking into that right now.

I noticed something. Sony's reveal conference was at 6PM EST, which is a convenient time for (east) USA but a fucked up time for Europe since it's the middle of the night.
Microsofts reveal conference is convenient for EU but much less convenient for US.

I guess that Sony think they have EU market covered and focus on US and MS has US market covered and focus on EU. This will be a very interesting gen.

Allright guys im all set up, got my stash, got some drinks and a pizza all ready for the show tonight. I'm actually pretty hyped although I probably wont be getting the new Xbox. But still it's a new piece of hardware moving the industry forward so I'm anxious to know what direction MS is taking it in.

I'm pretty sure we won't be seeing many games, which disappoints me because just like with Sony, it is all about the games for me.

Also I love that tweet by Sony..slow news day lol!!!

Jeez, its a joke, not like they came out and said that MS is releasing a pos. The industry would be boring if it was just everyone kowtowing to each other.

Also, it has been a slow news day so far technically.

Agree with this fellow GAFfer.

It's like the "come at me bro" from Killzone Twitter to Rockstar and then the "why don't you come at me bro" from the other way around.

That was pretty funny and clever, I wish those fans could take it easy like the big guys do.

Desperation like Microsoft rushing to schedule an "Xbox reveal" event after Sony did one?

Eh?, its been 2 or 3 months or something and this reveal is right before E3 like it was with the 360, if anything it shows confidence that they didn't even change their plans after the PS4 reveal.
Please keep the fanboy shit out of this thread thankyou.

Ahh I've missed the console wars. Things really got far too calm these last few years, but now everyone gets upset at the drop of a hat, just like in the good old days.

Desperation like Microsoft rushing to schedule an "Xbox reveal" event after Sony did one?

hahahahaha, seriously? Please enlighten us to what date MS should have revealed on to not make it a "rushed event in response to Sony"? That's such ignorance to make the leap to this assumption.

So you don't think the fact that they were forced to delay their event shows that they prematurely rushed to schedule the event in the first place?

LOL

You really think there's a narrative to this like that?

Microsoft dwarfs Sony in every regard. I'll tell you they aren't rushing or doing anything prematurely.

Oh i'm not offended or mad at all at anything they did. The slow news days thing was actually pretty funny but at this point it doesn't look good that a company is releasing videos and buying twitter positions on the week of the Xbox unveiling lol. All in good fun I guess.

didnt realize it was an all day thing for guests. should be a lot of great write ups and maybe even some hands-on (?)

Hands-on were confirmed.
Architectural panel sounds we're getting specs :)
DF will surely write a good summary if they attend.

People need to realize the amount of churn of management chain was pretty high during the life of 360...so many names who were there at the beginning are not even at Microsoft anymore. Especially high compared with a company like Nintendo! Shane Kim, Ed Fries, Chris Satchell, Robbie Bach, all gone.

So what is interesting is that the very top layer of management chain has been more stable than ever, besides some departure at 1st party studios. What this means is that whatever we see in a few hours, is obviously the vision of Don Mattrick and his management team. So even though I work at Microsoft (in a different division), I am interested to see what vision they have for gaming, and I will ask them hard questions internally if I see things I don't agree with.

...and yes, their plans have been more secretive than almost any other project I have seen at the company...so basically no one knows anything besides those who need to know

One of my reasons to be hopeful is that one of Microsoft's "Mark Cerny" style guys is https://twitter.com/BoydMulterer who seems like a really good guy, this guy helped create XNA, loves indies, and also spearheaded this thing called Xbox Live :P

They are doing what any business would do; trying to get consumers to focus back on them. I think Sony's marketing is crap honestly and that is why I believe that MS will capture the US again this gen btw.

MS's event seems to be much more of an all day event with interviews from developers and the hardware team and even maybe some hands-on demos. It is going to be an enormous news day today.

I hope MS is going to try and erase all of the bad press accumulated between the Sony event and now all in this one event by being as transparent as possible.

Arrogant? I'm sure there are only about 50 people in the world who pay attention to tweets from @PlaystationEU. Actually maybe it's a little more than 50. They do have 161 followers after all.

Not really. MS wants to be on the evening news in the US and EU. Sony kinda fumbled that one.

And it's working. Have downloaded the update and I've got a green screen saying just over 3 hours to go. Fab.

Awesome man; thanks for the twitter link.

I think Microsoft will want to show something that will blow the best (graphically) of what Sony had (which was Killzone). They probably don't have anything that will be the scale of Killzone so I guess they will show a game with a smaller scale but greater details.

Please god show Alan Wake 2.

Also, the comment I made regarding the twitter post is more about what Microsoft said after Sony's press conference (a great day for the industry) than anything else.
