(OH SHIZNITS) Devil May Cry 4 confirmed multiplatform PS3/360/PC

I'm willing to bet it was in development for the 360 a long time ago. Hell, it may have started out on the 360 for all we know. Simultaneous release? How could they be starting on it right now?

I call BS. They've been working on it for a while now.
Of course. I'm assuming DMC4 was meant to be multiplatform all along but was forced to keep quiet out of respect to Sony. Possibly another Assassin's Creed situation.

You just don't up and decide to port the game to another system and announce it as a dual release. This has to be planned from the beginning.

Wow as if this wasnt big enough...

Japan, March 19, 2007-In respone to the suprise turn of events in which Capcom announced that Devil May Cry 4 will not only be going to Sony's PlayStation 3 but also Microsoft's Xbox 360 and PC, Capcom made a second suprise announcement.

Capcom Co., Ltd., a world-wide leader in the gaming industry, has also announced that it will release a collection of the first three Devil May Cry games on Xbox 360 entitled Devil May Cry Trilogy: Definitive Editon. Each game will be revamped to update the graphics up to the standards of the Xbox 360. Each new version will also include new material such as additional selectable characters, harder difficulty selections, and other bonus material. Online play is not confirmed, but is being considered.

"We chose to do this to to give our Xbox players who have never played a previous Devil May Cry game an oppurtunity to do so, as we here at Capcom wish to give our games the greatest reach possible", says Mr. Haruhiro Tsujimoto, vice president and COO of Capcom. "This release will allow those who have never before experienced this series to get a taste of it before the fourth release comes out."

The only release date set for Devil May Cry Trilogy: Definitive Edition is TBA, but Capcom has said that the game will be released before Devil May Cry 4.

Capcom will continue to strive to develop new and original games that appeal to a broad audience around the globe.

I think I hear Tina calling for you...

This is a good move by Capcom because the PS3 install base just isn't there yet to support such an expensive product exclusively.

Besides, the game will probably sell more on X360 than PS3 in the west.

How did Sony **** up?

well i don't know i consider it a pretty major **** up that they've essentially managed to lose almost all of their major third party exclusives, one after another. and since it's almost guaranteed MGS4 is coming to 360, and FFXIII looks like a piece of shit (even if it DOES come to 360 eventually)... well yeah, there's no good way to spin this. Sony should have realized if they were going to charge as much as they were for the PS3, they needed big first AND third party games to back it up and say "this is worth it." It is their responsibility to court third parties and, if needed, pay for those critical exclusives. They failed so hard it's almost embarrassing.

But, the giants fall hardest... and Sony has to learn their lesson. If PS3 only had DVD, Sony will be saying that for years to come.

After RE4, this doesn't surprise me.

I'm also not that surprised that Sony let this one slip away. They have Heavenly Sword and God of War now to pick up the slack plus they picked up Ninja Gaiden (and probably NG2).

Its been clear for a while now that Sony has been shifting its focus away from 3rd parties and more towards its own internal studios. I think if Sony does try and secure any exclusives they will be ones that fill the gaps in their own first party lineup, such as FFXIII.

Precisely. Just knowing how software development works in general, this is the only conclusion I can come to.

up all the backs we've condemned
we face our consequence

we think we've come so far
on all our lies we depend
we face our consequence
this is the beginning of the end...

Just got home from work and I'm sure I'm not the first to say......And so it begins.

Well, it's the safest thing to do. You can only depend on yourself in this day and age. It's like World War 2.

So Im a little behind on the industry. What are the chances of FF13 coming to the 360? Does MS have any current deals running with Square, or any hints?

It seems Sony doesn't care anymore about exclusive title and will concentrate on first party games I don't think it's a good idea.
I mean if they don't secure MGS4 and Final Fantasy they are pretty f***** up I bought a PS3 for sequel of titles I played on PS2 not Sony first party games only

Are you mad? MGS2 is was a huge huge factor for the PS2 and it sold a shitload of systems. I'm sure MGS4 will be the same.

Not sure. It rode the PS2 wave, and help a bit selling systems into the fanboys, but MGS isn't a series that gets into the casuals, just into the hardcore. GTA did it in PS2, Wii Sports is doing into the Wii, what game will do it for PS3? Who knows...

You knows what if funny on Gaf:

What people don't want you to know is that the xbox system is also losing exclusives. Like: Rainbow Six vegas, F.E.A.R., Oblivion etc. It's no fair, when the other system trips everyone doesn't seem to mind. But, when Sony trips, OMG IT'S THE END OF THE PLAYSTATION. This has got to be the most grueling console war Sony has ever embarked on.

this is just :lol

When FF comes out in Japan, PS3 exclusive. In the west...eh, see if they have time to port it over.

I think FFXIII is probably the one game that will stick with PS3

KGKK said:
How does it exactly make it less appealing? It is still coming out for the PS3.
Because if you purchased a PS3 with DMC4 as your most anticipated title, you feel stupid for spending the money you did with the PS3 when you could have saved it.

...aside from Oblivion, none of those were ever expected to stay exclusive to the 360. Hell, F.E.A.R. has been known as multiplatform since it was announced for consoles.

Sony are losing FRANCHISES. Big titles that made the PS and PS2 what they were. Oblivion and FEAR being ported over a year later isn't as big a deal as a Sony franchise becoming a multiplatform franchise.

None of those were Xbox Exclusives in the first place

:lol WTF is all this shit about the game now being not as good because it's not exclusive anymore?

Aren't you all the same people that were pretty damn happy/satisfied with the game in all the previous pics/movies. What happened to all of that?

Oh.. right..

Utterly unbelievable how badly Sony ****ed up this generation. The PS3's insane price has destroyed them. Figures, first Sony system I'm interested in from day one and it turns into a flop.

You see what i mean put Bioshock if you want :lol

FFXIII is all that's really left as far as exclusives go. Big ones.

MGS4 sells best in the U.S. so I don't even see that as a PS3 only game anymore. MGS games never sell more than 2 million in Japan.

As far as first party, both platforms have amazing games coming.
