Sure, or you could trade, sell your fruit at their town for higher profits, shop at their stores, etc. You can also play games on the island and look at their houses and stuff.

Nintendo has a cool Japanese site made for easy uploading to Twitter and Tumblr right from your 3DS. I assume they'll put up an English version soon.
