SHOCKING NEWS: Xbox One Voice Commands During Demo Weren't Real Time

applausecquut.gif

It's reversed.

I understand that the conference stage is a less than ideal place for these kind of technologies *points to Nintendo E3 2010* but if you're gonna show it off, show it off. Bring it, or don't. Nut up or shut up, as they say.

How is this breaking news when the source is just speculating and hasn't even confirmed it?

Nevertheless, pretty much all stage presentations are staged and prepared beforehand so no one fucks up.

If you were putting this presentation together, would you not have done the same thing? Better to be safe than sorry.

No shit. Game demos are also typically all scripted to to make it look good on stage. The kinect stuff being shown off in other videos in closed off rooms looked impressive and was real.

People ITT using this gif as some kind of "proof". This is from a choreographed Cirque du Soleil event, as I'm sure most people are aware.

You know what is worse than the demos being faked? The friggin fake ass M$ love fest reactions to those fake demos by the paid M$ staff!

How dare employees show some pride in their work.

The lack of logic on this board over the past few days has been appalling.

Are people really shocked by this? The big three always show some bs at their conferences.

That said, im not going to shit on MS like everyone else in here, I actually have a kinect and the voice commands work perfectly.

Makes sense they wouldnt risk it live in that tent. It would probably pick up all sorts of background noise.

It wasn't real!

Next you'll be telling me that he wasn't even playing Forza 5!

or that there wasn't a live basketball time on at the time of the keynote!

the price is right bit was real though. that was actually on tv at the time

Came to post this.

Its really strange because it worked great on some 360's.

It worked fine on my 360. If you had the stream interfere with Kinect, chances are you never went through the Kinect audio calibration, or you moved things around since the audio calibration.

Without a good audio calibration, Kinect can't filter out the sound coming from the speakers.

This part definitely irritated me because it wasn't just the concept, but the apparent speed of switching (and having "Instant" in the name of whatever they're calling it), that I think did color mainstream press impressions. For an old dude like me who remembers rabbit ears, switching channels/inputs in modern home systems always just feels too long, and the presentation was certainly giving the impression that they had somehow solved that problem.

Why does it even matter? If it doesn't work as advertised when the actual system launches, then we can talk and MS will be called out. To bitch and moan about a presentation, come on man.

Oh hey look, the sleaziest underhanded game company in the business is doing sleazy underhanded shit.

Shock

And

Awe

One of my friends thought he wouldn't need a cable box and subscription if he got an Uno. He is not the only one either after reading the thread that confirmed this. I just feel bad for these people.

Yes, it may or may not have been faked (probably is) and everyone who has watched any sort of conference is going to assume that, though the problem is, is that the presenter was passing it off as if it was real time at least when Nintendo messed up the Wii presentation and having problems with the remote was at least real time.

the price is right bit was real it was on live tv at the time, everyone seems to ignore that

The point is we don't know the actual responsiveness. He kept gloating about how fast it was and "let's see that again", which is more annoying than anything knowing it was fake.

It's just one more aspect of the conference that had left people uncertain, confused, and feeling generally negative about the system. MS used to be much more personable and up front about their products in conferences, and now it feels forced, uninspired, and pure marketing shenanigans.

I know this is a funny prospect, but at 1:44:18 and numerous times afterwards he issues the "command" with his hands outside of his pockets.

That said, surely it's more believable that one of the many xbox reps that are in the tent (and audience lol..) are pressing the slideshow button? xD

I think you're just getting more experienced and now see the strings attached to the puppet. There's a reason older people are more cynical.

This article is completely BS! They did a live demo of it with the press and it works just like it did on stage. The thirst to see MS fail is getting out of hand like neogaf only has a 116,000 members even if all of them didn't buy a xbox one Guess what they have an 80 million plus user base. In fact the sold an xbox 360 for every gaf member last month in the us alone on a bad month. Stop whining and complaining don't like tit speak with you wallets creating and fabricating stories is just ridiculous at this point. 116,000 people can't decide a console race even if fanboys on here will like to think so you get no money from sony or MS buy what you like making up bs to to wear flags for either side is getting stupid.
