So PSEye is confirmed to not be a standard? I didn't know this...

8GB GDDR5 is about the only "expensive" thing I can think of. The GPU is good but not crazy for 2013. No cell, no new blu-ray, should be cheaper than a launch PS3 which had a $500 SKU.

I don't know much about inflation, but 2 year after PS3 launch there was economic bullshit, deflation and stagnation. Also, what are people willing to pay for today? $500 is pushing it, they need a $400 SKU at least, if not cheaper, IMO. I could see $430 as someone said though.

It'll still be nowhere near what the BOM for the PS3. That cost them $840 dollars to make at launch and they sold it at a gigantic loss.

This, basically. For $500 I'd expect the kind of system Xbone fans were dreaming about prior to the reveal with a 2.0+ TFLOP GPU.

Sony has been preaching about affordability every time they're asked about the price which is a stark contrast from telling everyone to get 2 jobs back in 2006.

I'm not expecting the Ps4 to cost more than $450

Ps3 was so expensive because of the Blu-Ray drive. At $599 it was still the cheapest Blu-Ray player at that time.

8GB DDR5 may be expensive, but not Blu-Ray drive circa 2006 expensive.

It was ~700€ yeah.

Euro was not as strong as it is now though, it's almost equal to a GBP now (though Sony and other companies still seem to "think" US Dollar = Euro lol)

Back then PS3 launched at £425, which was around €630 back in March 2007. EU still got ripped off though.

I can't believe it's only 2 weeks until E3. The hype is starting to become almost tangible.

Actually quite excited to see what next gen 3rd party titles are going to be unveiled. I'm sure there are a few launch games for both consoles we have yet to hear about.

Also they really want to match MS's CoD with Destiny apparently. Exclusive DLC and now gameplay reveal at their conference. Funny how Activision has a similar deal with both of them now.
Could get either way of course. At least Activision is putting a lot of marketing dollars behind it and is making sure to plaster CoD and Halo all over it. Could help Sony if they are able to capture some of the mindshare for the PS4 version.

Funny considering it is Bungie. Everything can happen in this industry...

will there be a way to watch this unspoiled after it airs? I have a 3 hour exam the day after this thing airs at some ungodly hour of the morning in the EU :/

Why not go to bed super early and then just get up at 2am and watch it live, then get a few extra hours and you're golden.

Sure, there'll be a gametrailers cache up right away and Sony will upload it to their own servers a few hours later, just follow the spoiler free thread that someone will inevitably make on gaf.

In the end it benefits Activision. COD has that brand loyalty on the Xbox, and most people who pay on there are willing to shell money out for the DLC.

Why not do the same thing with Destiny on the competing platform? I think Destiny is activisions next big thing. Isn't there like 3 games planned? It would do well for Sony, Acti and Bungie to make the game sell as much as possible on PS4. It's going to sell well on Xbone regardless.

then why's BruceLeeRoy saying M0dus doesn't really know anything? I thought Bruce was some type of an insider too, or at least knows people >_>

Well there's a difference between working for Sony and knowing Sony's E3 plans. That being said I have no idea what m0dus does or who his connections are.

M0dus works for Sony, so I would think he knows something. Look at his tag.

Are you sure M0dus works for Sony? :P

I just want news on TLOU multiplayer. It's the only thing standing between me pre-ordering the special edition or waiting for the price to drop.

I am still not willing to jump on the game because they haven't shown of MP.

I'm not very keen of buying games at $60 given how Sony supported Starhawk which was the last game I purchased at $60.

I'm totally convinced on the single player, but given that I can't find the game for less than £39 and the Joel Edition is £44 I figured that if the multiplayer sounded enticing enough (heck, they keep hyping it up enough) that I'd take the plunge and pre-order it.

Otherwise, I'll be waiting for a price drop.

You're probably the only one waiting on TLoU because of the MP component.

Your post leaves me feeling bitter but you are right on the most part.

I think I've spammed neogaf enough asking for Last of Us MP footage.

I plan to play it alot, actually even if its as bad as Uncharted 3 as some people make it out to be, so I may as well preorder it now.

Still too many unanswered questions about PS4 that could kill the hype...

Will Sony include the PSEye with every PS4?

How much RAM, how many CPU Cores, how much GPU resources will the OS use?

Used games? Always online?

Would a bundled PSEye kill your hype?

The OS footprint for PS4 doesn't seem to be that taxing but it is a legitimate concern.

Sadly I expect some sort of used games controll from Sony, I just hope is morr friendly for lending games and private selling of games.

Including a PSEye with a PS4 would mean that Sony wants to copy MS's idea of making the PS4 an all in one box

And doing so will increase the amount of specs reserved for the OS

Not really, it could be to assure that all PS4 users have it and Devs can implement it more freely.

Who says the Eye has to use any system resources when it's connected? They've never said it was required, even if it is bundled in. This isn't Kinect where they're focusing the usability of the console with the camera's ability to recognize voice. PS4 will be running 1 OS, versus 3. So pretty safe to say that the OS will be using around 1GB of RAM.

Not really understanding the thought that since MS are acting like a bunch of clowns, Sony has to follow in their footsteps.

And what's the problem with PSEye being bundled? And yes, it's obviously going to be bundled.

there is no problem, people are being weird lol.

It's always sad when I read a post on what Sony is doing and that is the only logic applied. Because MS is doing it, or all third parties will get together and force 100% parity on all systems.
