I watched the whole Nintendo Direct video and I am really excited to play this. Game design has been going to shit, conventions turning more and more mindless/automated/robotic. But then even going back to older, better designed games it is more than I want. I'm tired of objectives with all sorts of various shit getting in my way. Now that I am an adult that is basically what life is, so I don't want to fight things in my play time.

This game has no levels, no high scores, you don't kill anyone, and if you play together it is because you are sharing something. It has kicked all conventions to the curb and made something completely new. It is also something with a lot of freedom; freedom to select different sorts of challenges and aims, to be creative with every aspect, to interact with others with little risk and many benefits, to play as long or short amount of time as you want when you turn it on. It's very exciting.
So true!

Yes, and it's even in the prologue.

The script is pretty funny, the gameplay is just the weak point with the first one. I literally fell asleep once during a fight.

The first one was great story wise, with the many video game references, but I HATED how the healing was random. You had almost no control with how your players are healed, and I thought that was pretty stupid. Luckily they got rid of that with mk2.

good lawd is this what I get for having not played an AC game for 8 years?

Tom Nook? Gyroids? Were these even in the GC game?

All I remember is that mole dude who got mad at you for changing the time.

Well, for starters that GIF is from the GC game. Lol.

I'm totally making a Gyroid room.

The script from the first was the best; I guess it helped that there was more voicework in that game.

No more ugly grass deterioration right?
It's still here but not as ugly as City Folk?

From what I have seen grass deteriorates slower, grows back faster, and it isn't as harsh as in CF. The paths it make can actually be good looking.

So yeah, a lot better in that regard.

I'm pretty sad that Nintendo didn't take the opportunity to add back in all the missing villagers from every version. We're so close to having everyone, to stop short like this is really disappointing.

Plus, I really want Ketchup the duck.

IIRC, it was really easy to edit villagers in the Wii version. if someone happened to get the textures and make them hi res, they could be applied to a blank villager and be in a town.
Doesn't help that City Folk wasn't very good/is soon to be outdated, though.

Yeah but the Wii was hacked while the 3DS hasn't been, so far.

I'm surprised by the amount of villagers anyway, it's a good thing.

Yeah, I was just pointing that out as a last resort of sorts if you really wanted the villager.

We are getting a lot of them. 303~ IIRC.

(i use iirc a lot sorry)
