Animal Crossing: New Leaf comes out in a month.

They're fantastic games, but I don't believe they're as good as Link's Awakening (although if you're going in mainly for the dungeons/puzzles, you may prefer them to Awakening).

Like what Robin64 said, it's better to view them as a whole. I found myself preferring Seasons compared to Ages, personally.

Thank you for your opinion matching mine ;)

Most people seem to prefer ages that I've asked. Most people have also played ages first, which is why I wonder if there isn't a bit of bias there (maybe slight fatigue once you get to the second game for instance).

An aside, anyone got the leaf pic handy? Feel like adding it to mine. Either clean or New Leaf will work.

So why should I play these games? The GBC zeldas are the only ones I never played, and Minish cap is probably my favorite zelda game in the series.

My brother was just at the Zelda Symphony in London, and I nagged him to bring his 3DS.

He got like 250 Streetpasses... :P
I was there as well. But I just managed to scrape past 100 (for the achievement!) because I was meeting someone there and it would have been rude to keep playing on my 3DS.

Yeee

Nothing beats going to PAX for Streetpassing. I really wish the limit was more than 10, since all I use it for is collecting the rest of the puzzle pieces.

I've always wanted to play the Capcom Zelda games but have never gotten around to it. I got Minish Cap in the Ambassador Program so I really should play it. I started Spirit Tracks this weekend though and am loving that one so far.

If you have to ask "why" about playing any zelda game, you're doing it wrong.

That said, it's probably best to take such questions to the offtopic thread that just popped up.
Well I was only asking since I saw them on sale at the eshop, and was wondering if they're worth the price.

But from most of the responses in here, I'm going to assume that they are.

Good morning, CrossingGAF!

So, went out and about this morning. Picked up Tales of the Abyss, and after a couple of hours of play, I am pleased with the purchase. Mostly since the AI aren't as dumb as I thought they'd be.

I also picked up this:

If they make a Pokemon reference or two in New Leaf, I'll be happy.

So, any news in the world of AC?

My, your desktop is messy! x)

Wow, that's a first... I can now come back 5 or so hours later and not collect codes. LOL, but yeah once OT goes up and the launch (bundles and 3DS being bought), FCs is going to skyrocket.

Yep. Messy desktop is messy. I give zero fucks about it though, lol.

I'm the same way. Messy desktop too.

Could someone convince me to buy a 3DS? Please? I want one but $200 is quite a bit, and New Leaf isn't quite enough to push me over the fence.

Well you're asking for what its worth. I can tell you right now that a lot of people love the Swapnote feature here (notes with drawings and handwriting). There's this game, Luigi's Mansion 2, Etrian Odyssey 4, Fire Emblem: Awakening, Harvest Moon: A New Beginning, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, Pilotwings Resort, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask, Resident Evil: Revelations, Rune Factory 4, Super Mario 3D Land, Tales of the Abyss, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward... AND that's just physical. I haven't even covered the digital or eshop.

Remake of DQVII, Shin Megami Tensei 4, Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, Project X Zone, Bravely Default in the future.

How time consuming do you guys reckon this game will be? I've been trying to clear my backlog so that NL is the only game I have in circulation and I'd like to know if it's worth it.

Super Mario 3D Land, Ocarina of Time 3D, Fire Emblem Awakening, Virtue's Last Reward, Kid Icarus Uprising, Mario Kart 7, Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, Professor Layton, Donkey Kong Country Returns, NES and Gameboy Virtual Console...

You get out of it as much as you put in. There's no penalty for only playing a little other than getting and seeing less stuff. So for some of us, it will take over our lives. For others, just ten minutes a day.

Once you get into the swing of things, I usually only spent about 40 minutes or so a day playing.

It's worth it, if you get into it, it can easily consume you. Especially if you start visiting other towns and trading.

Look at any games list to see the support. There are mountains of awesome games for it. Lots of developers on board for it! There's StreetPass, Swapnote/Letterbox and AR Games, and things like this community! It's probably the best $200 you can invest into video games at the moment. And Animal Crossing should be heavily on your radar because it's content to cost ratio is astronomical. I'd wager there's more to find, collect and do in Animal Crossing than in any game released in the past couple years. Best value ever.

Hahaha, I'm the complete opposite. Everything on my PC must be super organized! :P

I-It's getting a sequel to A Link to the Past. That's everything I could want and more.

Also, Bravely Default, Kid Icarus: Uprising and Ace Attorney 5. : )

First post on Neogaf and would love to be involved with this Animal Crossing community. I'm getting it Day One. I have no friends on my friend list but I'd love to add you all and get acquainted with your towns and what not. Add me on the list as well.

Kid Icarus Uprising
Fire Emblem Awakening
Super Mario 3D Land
Donkey Kong Country Returns (if you haven't played it before)
Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon
Final Fantasy Theatrhythm
eShop and VC games
Upcoming games like AC, Mario & Luigi, LttP 2, Ace Attorney 5, Yoshi
Full DS backwards compatibility

Plus I'm probably forgetting games and not listing good games I haven't played. A 3DS is totally worth $220 for the AC bundle.

Hi, I'd like to add you to the master list of FCs, I just need to know your GMT and if you're going to cheat with time travel in this game.

Can someone help me out with 999? I just finished the game, and I absolutely loved it. It was an incredible ride. I love point-and-clickers (and I also love Hotel Dusk, Layton, Phoenix Wright, Walking Dead, Monkey Island).

However, I know that I got a bad ending. The ending blew me away, shocked me, struck at my core, but it's very obvious this is a game that has multiple endings and that it will take a bit of work to get the "right" ending. However, Animal Crossing is right around the corner... and I don't want to be tied up with 999 by the time that comes out. I want to be fully invested in AC on the DS.

I have three choices here:

1) Minimum amount of work: read what's essentially a transcript of the good ending

2) Ideal amount of work: play the game one more time and use a walkthrough to make sure select all the right doors and get the good ending

3) Maximum amount of work: continue to play the game without a walkthrough and find out the correct path on my own, through multiple playthroughs

Is it worth it to go down path #3?

Welcome, be sure to say whether you will time travel and your time relevant to GMT for the sheet.

In 999, you have to get a certain amount of endings before you can get the good one. However, they let you blow past text you've already seen so subsequent playthroughs should go by faster. I recommend getting a couple different endings then reading online about the requirements for the best ending.

You have to get every other ending to get the true ending anyway, so it's really out of your hands. Trust me, do it. Just do it. It's worth the effort, especially if you decide later on to buy the sequel.

This x100.

No Time Travel. EST (eastern time). Thanks so much. I'm glad to be apart of this, going to be a great game to have fun with this summer, I can just tell.

Thanks. You're added to the sheet.

God, you guys. It's been on for 30 mins now and I have to say, the 8pm theme is just wonderful.

Soooo relaxing. I can easily see myself watering my flowers to this tune.

Gah... this thread is seriously killing me... I really don't want to start a new town (or revisit an old one) in the older games just to abandon them in a couple weeks, but it's getting harder and harder not to.
