So I have been thinking about this for a while and I would like to separate what people are hoping to see of Final Fantasy Versus XIII showing up and what your realistic expectation is.

My realistic expectation: A five minute trailer for the game showing gameplay and story. Release window revealed. Renamed to Final Fantasy XV.

What I hope to see: An on stage demo of Final Fantasy Versus XIII renamed as Final Fantasy XV. Release date announced. New trailer released. PlayStation 4 exclusive. Playable on the show floor.

Personally I think most of it's ready and Sony told them to put it on hold after that 2011 trailer.

Release sometime next year. Maybe March (That would be a lot of Final Fantasy games on the PS3 in a 12 months span), but likely Fall 2014.

Well, you can expect a new Final Fantasy for the PS4, at the very least.

Things which suggest it's Versus rebranded;
- A few 'insiders' explicitly stated the game has been moved to PS4, and is dropping the XIII branding. Verendus has a ban bet that it will be there, he also claims Sony has some involvement with the game.
- Nomura himself has said the game is still in development but it's reveal has been delayed for reasons outside of his control, which will become clear (a platform shift?)
- Versus XIII as we know it uses elements of the Luminous engine (for lighting I believe?) which next-gen software will also use.
- Agito XIII was another FNC title which dropped the branding to become 'Type 0' so it's not an unprecedented notion.
- Nomura in interviews detailed the ambitious nature of the game, discussing the changes in concept (world map changes etc) which implies the game was pushing the hardware since its inception.
- Roen, clothing designer for Versus XIII dropped the Versus name from their website (despite having finished the work for the game in 2008) and had only 'Final Fantasy 15'.
- The official 'Noctis' fragrance has dropped the Versus branding (and is now named 'Noctis Final Fantasy') and is incidentally due to release 2 days after E3.

And as mentioned, Hashimoto at PS Meeting said a new FF will be at E3.

The trailer will be similar to the one we saw a couple of years back. CG footage, ingame cutscenes, gameplay, battle footage - everything. It'll have a release window (probably Winter 2014)

Only thing I'm wondering is if it's PS4 exclusive or if there will be a PS3 version as well.

I realistically expect it to be a pile of shit because they have no idea how to make good games anymore. Anything other than that will be a nice surprise.

If they show anything, it'll be a trailer and it won't contain any gameplay whatsoever.

I'm expecting a trailer followed by gameplay on the PS3 or PS4 then Sony announces a publishing deal for the game just like they did with FF7. In fact, i expect Sony to treat vs just FF7.

Realistically, I expect to see Final Fantasy Versus XIII renamed Final Fantasy XV and moved to PlayStation 4. Too many recent events foretell of the name change, at least. I'm hoping if not a release date, we at least get a release frame. I also suspect it's the Final Fantasy game Hashimoto teased at PlayStation Meeting.

We all know it has to be Renamed 15 at this point.
There would be no benefit to keeping it related to 13 at all. Especially with Lightning Returns later this year.

With that said I think we'll get the typical 5-7 minute trailer square likes to do with gameplay, story, and cutscenes shown throughout. Then a gameplay demonstration depending on how far along with it.

The only thing that bothers me about that is once again lightning returns.
Since they don't want to entirely usurp that game from being shown and what not.

For whatever reason I'm pretty excited for this game. I really hope the rumors are true and its been moved to PS4. I hope we get gameplay and a release date, but at this point, I really don't know what to expect.

The former is what I think is more likely... which is awesome.

Yeah he had his goofball moments but every FF character does at some point, especially if they "serious" types.

I'll say this, exclusive or not I really won't care unless I see a flyable airship. After being burned on Final Fantasy games several times in a row now, that is my requirement for what a 'real' Final Fantasy is.
